  • I culture HWC into yogurt. Had 1/4c of that with some smoked salmon this morning. yum.
  • I try to stay around 20g net carbs per day, and around 80g protein, and fill in the rest with fat to be satisfied. From a percentage perspective, that usually lands me around 75/25/5 for fat, protein and carbs if that makes sense? I'd have you scrounge my diary, but I've been a logging slug for the last few weeks.
  • Very inspiring! Great job. Progress pics are great inspiration.
  • Welcome, and good luck! Its a great way to live.....so many benefits!
  • Oh Granny..... xoxoxo
  • OH! Sorry I missed this one...been busy helping the neighborhood lay out compost!! My first name is... Jenn I chose my username because... I used to play a card game called spades...where you can try and go "Nill" by taking no "tricks" or winning no hands...you get extra points for "losing"...so it seemed appropriate. My…
  • Good Job!!! 2 lbs is awesome!! Thats about what I lost on my first week. I was already fairly low carb, so I don't think I had as much water weight to lose. Try not to focus quite as much on the scale weight. I know thats hard to do....that stupid scale is addictive...I know. Take measurements during your journey, and…
  • The initial app is free. they have a pro version you can buy for 27.99 yr, or you can earn pro version for free by taming your monster.
  • I'd also second the suggestion of trying to find another way to deal with the stress. The suggestions of going for a walk or getting out of the house are great ones. I used to stress eat at work A LOT, and constantly. My BG was running high all the time because of it....I never gave it a chance to regulate. I traded my…
  • I make my own jerky all the time! We love it. Commercially made jerky has a lot of sugar and carbs in it....and other stuff like MSG. ick. I don't worry about fat, as I follow a low carb, high fat diet, but these recipes are both low carb and low fat. Buffalo chicken jerky: Buy chicken tenderloins or take boneless skinless…
  • Good Morning ladies. I've been reading some of your posts with regard to Ashwaganda and valerian, and Rhodiola. All are great for cortisol/stress relief, and valerian specifically for peri-mental-pausal / mental-pausal situations. sorry if that term offends anyone, but sometimes, thats totally what it feels like (to me).…
  • HI. You may want to cut out that walden farm thing, and see if that helps. sucralose, or other artificial sweeteners can stall some folks. I understand your frustration though. I hit a really nice loss last week, and am now holding about 5-6lbs of water - which I do regularly. lose, hold water, lose, hold water. It stinks.…
  • Overall consistency over time will get you where you need to be.
  • This. Regardless of the lifestyle or WOE you choose, its this. You mention ..."True, I do love that I'm never hungry on LC and my appetite is low, but still!"...I guess my question would be surrounding the "still". Is there something particular that makes you want to reach for the brownie, or chips even if you are full?…
  • As an aside...I made a recipe a couple of weeks ago where you baked chix things with the skin on, and then deskinned them for a casserole. I took those skins and baked them again on a rack in the oven to crisp them up, turning them a couple of times and holy moly. They were to die for.

  • Try and check your ingredients though...some brands you find in the store will add MSG - especially the flavored ones... You should only see Pork, oil and salt (if you worry about that kind of stuff). If you like the spicy guys, try getting the plains and adding some tabasco. Delish.

  • I've taken to drinking mainly distilled liquors with seltzer or water, and they have no impact on my losses. I found a cucumber vodka (brand name EFFEN - which is too fun "hey you want some effen vodka?) Its great with some muddled mint leaves or basil leaves, mixed with seltzer. very refreshing. we also made our own…

  • The scale is just another tool in the toolbox that you can use for overall trending if you want, if you can do it without being obsessive. Otherwise its like having a little demon in your bathroom.
  • Good Luck, and welcome. make sure to come back and keep us apprised of the great progress you make!
  • JM, I feel so much better. Truly. Autoimmune flare-ups are more calm...less frequent and less severe when they happen. Inflammation and pain associated with autoimmune diseases has decreased substantially (amen)! Blood sugars are more normalized, which in turn means that frequent (daily / multiple times daily) headaches…
  • Yikes...sorry! How long have you been LC? Are you diabetic? How low was your blood glucose? You were nauseated before the run, so did you by chance check it before hand? Just curious. Have you had any kind of fueling issues previously while eating LC and running? If your body is on the fence with "fat-adaptation", you can…
  • 40+ lbs, and many many inches. I am still in flux, trying to keep the downward momentum. Over half of that has been since February. My main motivation though, has been a certain level of relief from many health issues I've had or have been dealing with. Just the relief from inflammation & overall gut rot is incredible.
  • Generally, I pair my burgers with some kind of sausage. And mayo.
  • OH! and OP, I am really glad your shorts fit! Good for you!!! You should very well be proud, and pat that hubby on the back too.
  • I am in need of some newer shorts...i have diaper butt. its hard to do yard work while constantly pulling up the drawers.
  • a low carb high fat (in my case also ketogenic) diet has helped reign in my glucose tremendously.
  • I have a mast cell disease (which results in the release of histamine throughout my body), and I take Quercetin with Bromelain (I use Source Naturals) is a natural bioflavonoid combo that can help inhibit histamine reactions. I need to take it daily, but I've given it to family and friends, who say it helps them within 20…

  • Agree. As a (fairly large) adult, I'm more worried about toxicity than sugars/carbs. That being said...I would feel differently if it were my much much smaller epileptic toddler. Think about it. popular brands of vitamins, toothpaste...mouthwash, especially those things geared toward small children...are generally laden…
  • I'm not trying to sound like a crunchy hippie...Its not really about diet sabotage or contributions to obesity per se, at least in my opinion, but more a general awareness of the *potential* toxicity of things we take for granted and come into contact with on a daily basis. The generic "we" tends to focus greatly on what…
