I'll chime in that I AGREE COMPLETELY! My Mom (78) has Parkinson's and osteoporosis. As soon as she was diagnosed with Parkinson's over 10 years ago, she stopped being as active (she was never as active as it sounds like you are) and has deteriorated since. Now, her doctor is having to push her to do PT so her strength and…

That is SWEET. You're getting paid to work out.

Also, check with your employer. Here in Virginia, state employees can get discounts on health club memberships. I don't need a discount because I use the local rec center which is free, free, free. (Read: paid for by my town taxes.) It's not the most swanky place, but I really like it and they have everything I need.…

I'm just gonna be over here reading that article while I eat my KIND Healthy Grains Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt Granola Bar.

I do this too. Mine are http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RDJAJ3Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Pretty affordable, wireless (I love) and I can jump music, control volume, take a call, handle the dog, all that.

I'm thinking it's pretty damn easy these day then...

Wear what you want, when you want, how you want. If you look like Zac Efron, Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum in a tank, expect me to stare and look goofy.

As very well explained above, stretching and having a gait analysis done to find the right shoes for you. In terms of the actual run, I've found that if I start with a good warm up walk uphill, I can avoid shin splints. If I start off going downhill without the warmup, I get shin splints every time. Walking on an incline…

Sooooo, if you set your MFP goals to lose 1/2 lb, 1lb, 1.5 lb, etc, the calorie goal they give you for the day already includes enough of a cut to lose that amount. If you then exercise, you can either increase that deficit by however many you burn during exercise and lose more, faster, or you can eat some or all of them…

How old are you? How much do you weigh? I'm 42, 5'2". When I was losing I started with a net of around 1400-1450. As I lost, i had to cut that and would net around 1300. If you're younger, you should lose fine with more. Do you weigh and measure your food? When I started weighing and measuring, I found out pretty quickly…

Laughed out loud. Last night as I'm benching my trainer starts telling me how we're going to ask to work in with some newbies who are (of course) curling in the squat rack. Midway through my last set she got a lot more forceful with her Push! Push! Do it! Get it done! Then I realized it was so that as soon as I racked she…

I love my Nutri Ninja. Not all that expensive and it's a workhorse. (That's high praise from someone who burned out 3 blenders in the year prior to getting the Ninja.)

Being all, yeah, I just noticed I had dropped a size... that is AWESOME.

I hate WalMart, but I'm on a budget. Mine was less than $20 and works great. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Professional-Electronic-Kitchen-Scale/38241740

Man. That's my kinda peanut butter jar.

At this point when she tells me to look at myself doing something (presumably so I know what it looks like when I'm doing it right) I usually can't decide if she actually wants me to look or if she's teasing me. She's a super fun trainer.

LOL, better make sure you aren't packing it in some of those cancer causing plastics. I wonder how I've made it this long.
-
LOL. Me too. Most of that is at home, but my trainer has caught me checking myself out more than once and teases me mercilessly about it. "Oh look Linda! There's another mirror!"

OMG. I had never seen the one with the horses and the... unfortunate... spandex pants. That was wonderful.

As an addition: I have never once had anyone say anything rude or anything negative to me at the gym. And when I started some of the stuff I do now, I know I made some mistakes. My gym is a free one provided by the town I live in so we definitely get all kinds of people! While everybody isn't necessarily interacting (gotta…

Hey, this is a copy/paste of a reply I made to another thread last week about unexpected results of weight loss. But it fits here, because i was like this too. So, here goes: So, here's one that didn't really occur to me until early this week: Community When I first started going to the gym 8 or 9 months ago, I was…

YES! And I've always liked bigger guys, but now I definitely want guys who can be/are interested in being active. If someone's main topics of conversation always seem to go back to food, their motorcycle and television shows... we're not a match.

About $320. Thinking this through was fun.

This sounds like me. Went from a 36/38DD, have lost 60 lbs and am in a 32/34 D. My boobs were the last to lose, and for the longest time I didn't think I would lose there at all. That was fine with me. They are... different than they used to be, so I'm focusing some of my lifting on chest exercises. :# A little duct tape,…

Humidity is our skin's friend.

I've been wanting to take a sauna a lot lately because winter and, well... warmth and humidity. Want all the warmth. Then I saw this article the other day. I recognize it's complete paranoia on my part to not go because of this, but whatevs...…

Yep. I run and walk on the treadmill and will get shin splints if there is no incline. Set at least a low incline, stretch before starting and that should help. It does for me!
