I inherited 4 grown step kids when I married. 3 were fine with it; 1 was livid. While logically she knew differently, I think deep down she hoped her parents would get back together. It took a few years but she eventually came around. Live your life. Love your husband. This is their issue...not yours. They may come around.…

There's a saying.... "if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!" The same holds true for weight loss! Weight loss NEVER goes according to how you want it to go. I tend to be a planner with an all or nothing attitude. "Planning" my weight loss has shot me in the foot many times. As such, I'm now just taking this…

FOR ME, processed sugar is an addictive substance. Too much and I start craving more sugar, as well as refined carbs (breads, etc.) When removed from my eating, the carb/sugar cravings vanish. Initially, it's not easy to do as I tend to have sweet teeth (not just a sweet tooth!), but it's worth it in the long run. I try to…

I didn't really start dropping weight until I dropped my carbs to 50g and my sugars to 25g. I tend to flux between 50-75 carbs and up to 50g sugars, depending on what I've been eating (e.g., they'll be higher if I've eaten a sweet potato vs. brocolli). And... like others have said - the cravings (for carby or sweet stuff)…

I didn't get married until I was 37. Had my kid at 39. You got plenty of time! (People used to ask me why I was single - BECAUSE I DIDN'T SETTLE!)
-
If you had told me I would have married a man who had been divorced twice, I would have laughed. But, what I realize now is the relationships/experiences he's had have made him who is today. Everyone has baggage. It's how you carry that baggage that defines who you are.

I have an all or nothing mentality. It's always been my downfall. I'm trying not to stress about anything too much this time around. It's a lot easier to stay on task if you aren't giving up because you had a jelly bean.

If you tell a non-runner you run 7 miles at a time, they'll consider you an ultra-runner! That's more than a 10k. The vast majority of the population thinks running 1 mile is far. Embrace your runner-ness.

I'm Paleo with a splash of cream in my coffee (and an occassional sprinkling of cheese). I like to think of myself as 90% Paleo, 9% Primal and 1% Oops. At this point I'm very rigid about logging. I've been teased for logging A SINGLE BITE of a brownie (or what was my best estimate). I do so only because (a) it keeps me…

Your food doesn't have to be his/hers. If he's watching his weight, whole foods are good for him too. The easiest way to fix that is one person goes shopping for the family. What you cook, he eats. My hubby isn't paleo, but he eats what I make for dinner. If he wants fries with that, he makes them himself.

I just tell people I'm eating real food and have stopped eating processed cr*p. It's really hard for people to argue with that! (I don't mention sugar or bread, because then I get the - it's bad to eliminate a whole food group. Since when is sugar and bread a food group?!?)

Try the uncured bacon. It has a very small amount of Turbinado sugar (a.k.a., raw sugar), but none of the nitrates. (probably not 100% paleo, but I refuse to give up my bacon. :drinker: )

I haven't yet switched over the family. If it helps, my son becomes an absolute BEAR (and I mean the growling snarling kind) when he's hungry or over-tired. I can pretty much, based on his disposition, tell if he's tired or hungry. His personality does a 180! I'm slowly incorporating primal into their eating - but until I…

If you drop your phone on the floor do you stomp on it until it breaks? No, you pick it up and keep moving. Quitting after 1 bite of pancakes? PLEASE! Make this something you can do forever. If that means having a bite or 2 or 200... incorporate it into your day and move on. 1 bite of pancakes with syrup couldn't have been…

MFP is notoriously off when it comes to determining calorie needs and macros. I highly suggest going to the scooby calculator and determine your goals there. It is absolutely NOT HEALTHY for a male to be eating 1270 calories a day. Here's the calculator: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ To lose weight, it's…

Write it off. My big question though is this... you are a male, WHY are your calories set at 1270? That is really, really low for a male. I'm female with about 40 more lbs to lose and am consuming just under 1500 (based on TDEE-20%). I just did a quick TDEE-20% and if you were 6' tall, you should be eating about 2200 to…

I live in a very small town in the middle of a very unpopulated state. I think I've seen one attractive person (other than my hubby) in the 9 months I've lived here. Not that everyone is ugly, but having grown up around TV in L.A. and worked around the music industry in Nashville, there's not much here I'd consider…

I don't have sugar cravings since eliminating most sugar from my diet (My one sugar treat is my sweet creamer in the morning - even with the creamer, I try to limit my sugar grams to 25-35). The first 3 days suck, but once I was off sugar, all carb and sweet cravings went away. Trust me that's saying something for me. I…

Oh well... darn! I live at 6834 feet above sea level (very high altitude) so baking tends to be difficult under normal circumstances much less trying to figure out baking with weird substances - regardless of how good a recipe is. The only thing I've tried to bake (pre-paleo) came out horrid due to the altitude. I was kind…

The only stuffing I ever make is a sausage, apple and onion stuffing with sage. Very simple. Just adjust the ingredients to how much you want of each.

OK... you need to read my play by play of C25K. It took me 3 or 4 tries just to get through W1D1. I eventually got up to running 50 minutes (after I switched over to C210k). I wrote a journal entry after EVERY workout (at least until I had to stop due to inflammation). I'm wanting to start up again soon! Here's the link:…

if it doesn't make you sweat, it's not exercise. If I'm shoveling manure, digging holes for trees - yes. If I'm raking. no

My percents are 15% carbs (56g), 25% protein (94g) and 60% fat (100g). I didn't start really losing weight until I dropped my carbs to 50(ish) and my sugar to 25. I don't eat fruit - most of my sugar comes from the 3 TBSP of creamer in the morning I refuse to give up. (we all have our "no-go" and that's mine. :drinker: )…

Your logging is pretty inconsistent (400 calories one day (did you skip dinner or not log because you didn't want to admit what you ate?), no logging on the weekend). For me, I find that if I "cheat" by having higher carb items, I'm FAMISHED the next day. I would advise you to log consistently - even if you're eating…

So.. if he doesn't love you because you're fat - and you lose the weight to keep him - what happens if something happens to you - illness, accident, whatever... that leaves you less than perfect? Paralyzed from an accident; bald due to chemo; with stretchmarks and bigger hips from children? I say be thankful you find out…

I eat uncured smoked (nitrate free) bacon. I didn't think there would be a difference, but after eating it for awhile, I tried some with nitrates and felt REALLY sick (thought I would puke). As for the salt factor - if the rest of your diet is strictly whole foods, the excess sodium in the bacon isn't going to do much. I…

I eat roasted nuts too and don't find a difference. Primal or not, I like and eat them. I lost 15 lbs the first 3 weeks of doing primal/paleo. Then it came to a screeching halt (3 week plateau). I now average about 1.25 lbs every week. It's frustrating, but I keep trying to remind myself that 1 lb per week = 52lbs in a…

LOL! ^^ This. It's not the weight loss putting her in ***** mood.
