I would like to get credit for not yelling at my kids when they drive me nuts. I also think you should get extra calories for going to workout when you really dont feel like it.

Have fun and do your best. I know this isn't your first race, but I teach a running course for beginners and thats what I tell my people before their first race  . You won't be the slowest even if you feel like you are. Good luck! be sure to post your results! :flowerforyou:

You can do this, the community here is great and you will get a lot of support. If food is your weakness I suggest making small manageable changes. Don't try do a complete overhaul because you are setting yourself up to fail. Start by cutting out things your know you can give up that often make a big difference. Look at…

as an in progress fitness instructor I say go for it. People have told me that they like me because I am not intimidating. They see me tugging my 2 kids to the Y and having bad days and they know that fitness is something I have to work at just like them. No offense but you dont get that feeling from a super skiney 20 year…

Im not sure what it is exactly, but personally I think it has to do with the fact that I have so much more self confidence. My husband is very loving and was supportive of me when I was struggling with my weight, but now I feel so much better about myself and I think it shows.

I teach a cycle class ( basically spinning without the trademark) so I know I am biased but I think its a great workout. You can push yourself as hard as you want regardless of the instructor. I have taken a couple Zumba classes and felt like a lot depended on how intense the instructor made it. With spinning if you need a…

Seated leg curl, find a safe way to weight your foot, (or not ) lift until your leg is as close to parallel w the floor as you can then let it down slowly. This is great for the quads, you can also do a modified lunge/ squats standing behind a chair or something else sturdy to hold onto. only go as deep as you feel…

Thank you all for the kind words, in case you cant tell, that is the same pair of shorts in the first and second picture :blushing:

Good luck, you will get there. I know exactly what you're talking about. I used to get so mad at how I looked and how I ate I took me a long time to admit that I had no one to blame but myself. Admitting where you are in the process is a great first step to getting where you want to be.

I teach a toning class, you can do a lot of body toning without weights using your body as resistance. Lunges, squats, pushups ect. You can also go one sites like active.com and find full body workouts that are great starting points. I would be happy to answer any questions you have :)

LOL DH did this, I felt so bad for him, I used to work the night shift when we were dating. He stayed up and made minestrone in the crock pot so we could have it for dinner when we got up. I came home from work and the whole apartment smelled like garlic. He said well it called for 3 cloves of garlic, yes sweety a clove is…

I have to deal with this too and I know how you feel, Ironically my family makes me not want to eat. There are a lot of overweight people in my family and we have watched their weight go up and down over the years. The last 2 years since I have lost all the weight I feel like they are always watching me waiting for me to…

Ok I made a recipe called "can't fail 5 minute fudge" for some reason I read the recipe wrong and added powdered milk. I cant remember how I thought it was supposed to be in there but it was awful and lumpy.

I am afraid of dogs, this sounds really stupid because we have 2 dogs. As a child I was terrified of dogs but I grew out of it. However, I'm a runner and am always terrified that dogs are going to run after me and bite me. A dog once ran out in the road after me, a car came between me and the dog so I could get away, I…

Well I cant stand olives ( actually one of the few foods I won't eat) so IMHO its disgusting.

I have been to more countries than states. I attended 7 different schools. I married someone that lived in the same house his whole life and I think he is the weird one. I am an army brat and we lived in Germany for 5 years when I was young, I also have a piece of the Berlin wall, we were living in Germany when it came…

I used to be terrified of automatic flush toilets, and for the longest time I used to think that I should be the oldest one in the family because my birthday is in January.

I have had a lot of comment made about my weight, and I wish I could forget them but I can't. However last night I was looking at my arms and realized I have visible tricep muscles. I recalled that my dad used to pinch the back of my arms and call me bingo arms. He meant it as a joke I think but he didn't realize how…

I confess that I have lost over 60lbs, Im in the best shape of my life and am working as a fitness instructor but I still feel like crying when I step on the scale. I confess that I have 22% body fat but I let the scale rule my world, I do this for other people, I should know better. I confess that I when I tell people my…

I confess that I weight myself at least every day sometimes more than once a day, unless I know I will be up then I avoid the scale with a passion. I confess that I went out drinking and dancing last weekend and didn't feel like a mom for a few hours, it was the most fun I have had in YEARS. I confess that my sister was…

Ok Im in, my goal is to do all my at home workouts this week. I work as a exercise instructor so I workout minimum 3x a week. I have a schedule that I am doing for my self at home that includes running and p90x workouts. I have been having trouble staying motivated to workout at home lately so a plan to do it just for this…

This is all great advice, the only thing I would add is to take a look at your shoes. Properly fitting running shoes that are right for your stride and foot shape are a must. Pretty much the only time I get sore from running is when I am in need of new shoes. Whenever your trying something new its going to take a while for…
