It most certainly is! Usually the first few lbs are water weight and that can fluctuate dramatically. I've found it go as high as 10 lbs!! Can you believe that?? So that's one. Second, measuring with a tape measure is honestly a much more reliable method of determining your successes. Muscle is much more compact and dense…

For the males: Women are, for all kinds of reasons that I could list off from parental examples to media to social compartamentalizing, insecure and emotionally needy. Not all women but I'd say 95% of us. Including me. I just can step back and look at myself and other women and see what's common. Your wife is being…

Awesome story. thanks for sharing!

Kity: I haven't noticed! How often do you weigh in? That's a great profile pic btw... where have you been? Or have i just been missing your posts lately?

Oh, and I'm NOT a proponent of 'starvation mode'. Not as its used here anyway. It's an ongoing debate... I know; and I'm sure some folks will tout it at me... I'll probably opt to not respond to those posters. I'm not here to continue an old argument. I'm only interested in finding people who are struggling with the same…

You may not be doing anything wrong. Here's what I've discovered (and had confirmed) for ME: My body fat is about 32% (memory is questionable); which means my muscle mass is way lowl; which means that my metabolism is super slow; which means in order to lose, I have to be at a major major deficit which isn't terribly…

Guys: Duh.. Hellooo? Your women are feeling insecure, unattractive and VERY worried that you're doing this to attract a NEW and MORE attractive, sexier woman. I mean, did you look like this when you got married/involved? My guess is that you didn't. You need to step up your game to make her feel desired and important and…

Wow! We're halfway there! I did 2.28 miles last night- but sent it to Lee. I was on my ipod. This REALLY makes me want to walk more... alot more. I think this is what I've been missing. Some sort of immediate outcome. Maybe I'll do something like this for myself and see how far I can get.

I've compared it to Jiffy Natural PB and Nutella came up WAY short in so many ways that I didn't find the price tag worth it. Although I would like to find out where to get that "better than peanut butter" or Wonder stuff or whatever it is also! THOSE I wouldn't mind trying. Especially since I like PB&J once in a while and…

put it in cardio. no one really uses strength for that reason.

In!! Said I would be for June.

76 days totally smoke free today. Gained about 30 lbs.... I know the pain. Hopefully, you've been somewhat active and kept your metabolism up - I did not so it's going to take ALOT for me to lose. But if you've stayed active, in spite of everytihng else, you'll do great. It'll still take time, but you'll do it. you're here…

thanks everyone!!! I'll do one more at 100. Maybe a final at 1 year.

Thanks Wolff. The principle at the school I'm interning at used it today during their graduation and it really hit a deep spot for me. Concordancia: This particular version is attributed to him (as no other clear author has been identified for THIS version) in spite of its stunning similarity to Bessie Stanley's. There are…

Morality is a philosophy that can be modified, codified and devalued as easily as the days change. Someone already mentioned Kant; and if you're at all familiar with the history of philosophy, then you know that this is an age old conversation about what morality is and where it comes from. It's about as elusive as proving…

weeding can burn some serious cals. I count all my yard work as I'm rarely doing just one thing and will spend some time hauling rocks, some time weeding, and some time shoveling.... so for me, it's kind of a no brainer. and I'm like the other poster - a full time student on my butt wayyyyy too much.

Raw or cooked? Many confuse the two. Often, the measuring is cooked and the weight is raw, hence the drastic differences. You'll note it most on pastas. Although, eating the raw amt once cooked is alot less so you're consuming alot less cals..so not necessarily a bad mistake - but it can be a frustrating one.

I totally agree that some of the organizations make tremendous donations, which is fabulous, yes. AND - one player could make that same donation 10x over even without a career on ONE YEAR's income. That's a little bit outrageous. So for an ENTIRE organization or team to donate a few hundred thousand when they're paying out…

I'm gonna' get alot of chips & beer thrown at me for this... but I'd love for the majority of pro-sports (U.S., primarily) to go buh-bye. I take issue with players making 16 Mil to throw a ball (or catch one) or a puck. please go away! **ducks and runs as fast as her fat *kitten* will take her!** (don't hurt me!)…

You're going to get different answers from different people. MFP is supposed to calculate your deficit in already. 3,000 cals is a whole lot so basically, eat however many you want. Just try not to go over that max. If you're under and you feel good about where you're at come the end of the day, then I say you're good. for…

5'1". 5 lbs on me is 10 lbs on most everyone else.

We're totally on the same page. That was another inquiry/suggestion I was going to make - get him tested for gifted. Many ADHD kids are. These days it's called "twice exceptional". In your case, it'd be thrice. :-) Sometimes, this gives enough fodder for positive reiforcement, feedback and esteem so as to help counter some…

Ouch, Lizzie. But it's okay - it's not a zero tolerance district, obviously, or he'd be expelled. And frankly, alot of 8 year old boys would do something like that so don't worry about whether or not that's "normal". It is. Boys love weapons and they love to show off their "toys". Even grown up boys. Okay, so I don't think…

Lizzy, do you have him medicated? Normally, not a first suggestion I go with as I'm not fond of kids and medication if at all avoidable - BUT this sounds pretty severe.

The question to ask yourself is : is this something I'm willing to deny myself for the rest of my life? Learning moderation in our favorite foods is probably one of the hardest - but most valuable - of lessons. That's what I'd do anyway.

Funny. Diet Dr. Pepper is the only diet soda I will drink. My norm is full blown pepsi. LOL

and you've earned every bit of that success. :: hugs :: so proud of you!

it's the weekly deficit that matters, not the daily. Get in an extra workout or two this week and you're fine. You don't want to make it a habit, but 600 is manageable. Don't stress.
