I'm a salt-fiend and throwing away that little bag of MSG sodium stuff would make me cry.

27 for maysn?

I always manually reduce the number of calories burned that MFP says. I just *know* I cant be so lucky to lose burn so much, so I don't really trust it. PS. - If your a college student, you probably have access to a gym at your school. While I never really trust those machine either, it would be nice to have free access to…

I hear ya, girl. I'm adding you as a friend.

WARNING - TMI - I'm Reagan, and I am a scale addict. I dont lose sleep over it, but I would be lying if I said I didn't weigh myself before and after a good poop.

You probably dont want to hear this, but 20 pounds in a month is do-able, but not really healthy. Judging from your height and weight, you are gonna be able to do it, but you will likely gain it back. The truth is you are over weight, the good news is you are absolutely not morbidly overweight. If you were, I would say "go…

Well, I'd be lying if I said I didnt start running just because I have an old treadmill, and was looking to burn calories to trigger weight loss. BUT, BUT, BUT..... I can honestly now say I am enjoying how I can run faster and am not as out of breath. I am noticing changes in my endurance that I definitely like, so even…

BIG THANKS to everyone who answered!! It was awesome to come back to this and read all these great responses. I am sorta pleased to hear that breaking up my run into shorter more often runs is pretty much the same at the end of the day calorie-burning-wise. I remember growing up hearing the philosophy of "you have to keep…

Any running is better than no running in my opinion, so I agree with the above poster! I only started running/jogging daily about a month ago, but I am already up from 5.5 to a comfortable 6mph. For shorter distances, like 2 miles I can do 6.5. Four weeks ago 6.5mph felt like a sprint to me and I was red and out of breath.…

Thanks for that. I run on a super old treadmill, so I am not sure what type of device would be good for me.... a HRM to track my heartrate and see what I burn? I feel so technology-dumb. I just got a smart phone a few weeks ago, and am only really learning how the heck to use apps now. Do those apps just work by tracking…

Wow!!! You look great! You must feel amazing and so proud!

I agree that this is an issue that will be best handled by asking your doc. That being said, if you do decide to run, and are already struggling to get your doctor-instructed amount of calories in, you will need to eat even more and take in more calories to make up for the ones you burn running. It might just make things…

I'm an obsessive weigher - I weigh multiple times a day just for the thrill of knowing howing much I can sweat or poop out, haha.
-
Wow. I am so glad I found this thread. This was driving me crazy. AND, this might be TMI , but - even on my "normal" days my weight fluctuates about 5 pounds (lowest in the morning after a sweaty workout and a healthy poo, then the highest at night after a big dinner and chugging my 2 liters of water). BUT, with my…

Ummmmmmm........ Can't tell if this is for real but "ew" and "haha!" are my first reactions.

1200 is the lowest recommended for a female losing weight that MFP will give you. If you are looking to lose 30 pounds, I would not go below that, and would actually reccomend more calories, but I dont know your lifestyle/habits, so I cant say for sure. I'm also given 1200 a day, but I always eat back the calories that I…

I make every meal huge by adding veggies to it. I use 0% Plain greek the way you'd use sour cream. Switched from sugar to Stevia. I always drank a ton of water and was never a soda person, but I did like fruit juice, and no longer drink it (unless its a little and fits in). I gave up booze. (For now. Let's see how long it…

I love posts like this!! Great job, girl! you look amazing, and must feel great!

Thanks!! I am gonna google a healthy recipe for that and try it. I know I like it in general, but for some reason never really thought of having it around the house or making it.
-
Greek cucumber yogurt dip - I never see this in the supermarket. Do you make it ? Any tips on where to buy this?
-
Wow - I thought my sour cream post was clever, but I guess it took me too long to write it because by the time it got posted you guys beat me to it! Great tips about the salsa - yum. Glad to hear other people are doing this too.
-
A tip that I use often (and wish I thought of earlier) is - I use non-fat greek plain yogurt as sour cream - On a baked potato with chives and salt and pepper, or a scoop on top of some homemade chili. ALSO, DIPS! I use Liptons onion soup/dip mix with greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and seriously NO-One (evenly my…

I've been weighing myself obsessively (basically every time I use the bathroom to pee - which is often because I drink so much damn water). I know this is not good, but it's sorta fun to see my self lose 3 pounds of sweat after running, and then gain it back in literally 10 minutes after I chug a ton of water. I wouldnt…

I'm in that over-excited newbie stage, myself, and when I dont want to take a "rest day", I just take a longish leisurely walk - that way I can log something and mentally give myself a feeling of accomplishment without putting my body through stress that day.
-
Reallly? That's wild! I assumed the original poster was a spammer do to the weird vagueness of the initial post. If not, I give her the same advice as everyone here has.
-
I might sound like a horrible person for saying this, but honestly, your friend might be jealous of your weight loss. I went on a "weight loss journey" with a good friend, and she was bigger than me to begin with, but smaller than me as she progressed and I stayed the same. I am a skinny-fat body type, and she was a…

Thanks for your reply. Good luck to you. To be 100% honest, I am not really looking to lose weight on shakes, or protein powders. I think that's a great jump-start for some people, but FOR ME (I stress that, because I cant talk for anyone else), I just want to learn how to eat more naturally and be more active. I'd be…

I dont know about men, but in my opinion, as a woman, I think our sex drive does increase. Not so much because we are actually hornier or whatever you wanna call it, but rather because of the gained confidence. Feeling comfortable and even better yet - proud, of your body can make everything much more enjoyable.
-
Very well said, and truly inspiring!! You look amazing!!

I guess you missed my post completely! I definitely weigh much less than I look! I basically know the reason, too. I have zero muscle, but have soft fat sloshing around. Charming, right?
