I don't try to kick my sweet tooth completely. I just give myself portion limits. I allow myself up to 1-2 bite size pieces per day. I've gone up to 4 a few times with smaller pieces but I'm pretty good about meeting my limit and even that is about half a candy bar. That's only if I have room. I allow myself to have…

My suggestion... Don't lock yourself into a regular exercise yet. Do, however, lock yourself into a minimum goal of how many times per week you will work out. Try a bunch of stuff. Also, keep in mind that when and if you are ready to tackle a more steady routine or a training regime, you can still add in the other stuff…

By the way, this is a great question to ask up front because many people do over rely on motivation whereas commitment is really the key to long term results.
-
The simple truth: Committment is more important than motivation. You will wax and wane. All of us do. Make a promise to yourself that you will do it regardless. Then do it. Having said that, I do many different things to actively work on increasing motivation when it starts to wane. Some things I do include: *I use more…

This used to be me. I've lost weight 3 times (a few years after each pregnancy) without ever formally exercising. The truth is I did start moving more each time but I didn't count that. I hated the idea of regular exercise. Sometimes someone would get out for a walk or drag me half heartedly into a gym, but overall I was…

I go through cycles. I have an obsession for awhile and then I move on. Here have been some of my favorites: PB and Bananas on Wheat Toast Yoplait Honey Vanilla Greek Yogurt (do not like other flavors though I keep trying) Half an Avocado with Garlic Salt Quinoa Tabbloui Wasabi & Soy Almonds Scrambled Eggs in a Honey Wheat…

Look at my avatar! I did this recently too!

In my end of the world, we call it typhoon munchies. It is so common that most people plan out their junk food party during storm times. Because they happen frequently here, I've learned to at least plan out some healthy munchies but it is hard work not to give in and sometimes I still go over some and give into some…

I live in a foreign country. I do not have access to nutrition information like many of you do but I still do my best to guess and match it up as close to possible to something in the database. It is EASY to let those odd days get out of control and you can walk out tripling or quadrupling the calories without realizing…

Is this a ... never mind, the link address shows up in the quote and I confirmed what I thought... a Camel Spider!

Forgot to quote the picture.

All spiders in my house are automatically named Fred and we wave to them. Hi Fred! (Not a joke. My dad started it and I continued the tradition).

I'm gonna bump this topic because I'm looking for a good weight lifting log app. Jefit seems popular. I LOVE the stat section but I found the rest a bit clunky and cumbersome. Strong Lifts 5X5 was great if you follow the program strictly but not very customizable. I need new hints.

I went to Guam this summer. For a small island they have a lot of pricey tourist attractions and TONS of political ads everywhere.

Very close for me--less than 50 calorie difference with MFP being on the lighter side.

I own one pair of pants that fit and it doesn't have a button at the top. I think I will solve my FWP today and go shopping. I am good at solving my FWPs. Every morning I take a bath and forget to bring a towel with me. I just shout for my knight in shining armor to rescue me. Now he sets one out for me the night before.

First of all, you can do anything you set your mind to. Do NOT sell yourself short. It will take determination and perserverence but you CAN do it. It doesn't matter what she thinks. What matters is where YOUR mind is. If you are really ready, you will do it.

I am not having any issues with losing weight BUT my scale fluctuates very widely from day to day. I weigh in more often and take the lowest of the week and chart it out to help me see it better. In fact, as I get closer to goal, it comes off a little slower (as it is supposed to) and I actually thought I wasn't losing…

While you are getting ready for the day, say to yourself... This is what I WILL do today (insert exercise plan). This is the time I will do it (insert time). If that happens to fail, I will do (insert back up activity) before I go to bed. Maybe in the beginning don't say the back up plan part each day but have it already…

I'm not saying I haven't done it once or twice but now I have a lot more discipline in general than I did in the beginning. Here's what I did when I was trying to build that up: I told myself I have to. I WILL do xyz on xyz days. The only way I can get out of it is if it is a holiday, I'm away on vacation (even then I am…

My question is about spotter etiquette. I just added the bench press and knew I had to suck it up and ask someone so I did. No problem. The question is the person stood with me through all three sets including rest periods so I felt I needed to rush the rest period because I was holding the person back from their workout.…

I weigh 134lbs. 1600 is my maintenance. Really it is more like 1750-1850 once I factor in exercise. As hard as it can be sometimes, and believe me when I say I need this reminder all the time (body composition goals at the moment), it is best to focus on the journey. My advice: Reflect on what you are doing throughout your…

My only complaint is I wish the personal trainers wore something that identifies who they are.

I started being able to do this about a year ago. Mine isn't that sharply tuned though. I wake up within 30 minutes before the time I tell myself. I do set my alarm as a back up but I don't really need it. I have nothing useful to add to the OP except to say I feel my best when I wake up gradually to outside natural light…

60lbs is a significant loss! Kudos! You definitely need pictures to help you see it.

I've been here, as a married woman. My husband and I saw each other 15 minutes per day as we were passing. We had opposite shifts. We had one day a week every week that neither of us worked. We spent half of that day with just family and a few hours that night socializing with friends. Literally this is how we spent 4…
