Not all FF dressings are created equal, so keep trying. Read the label and make sure you're getting natural ingredients. Even if it's not fat free, all you really have to remember is NEVER pour dressing over your food. I keep the on the side, dip my empty fork in to coat, and then eat. I find that I use a minimal amount of…

The calculators they use here (or Kinects) are nothing more than generic formulas that will never give you an accurate measure of your burn. I, too, recommend getting an HRM or Bodybugg (which I use) to track your calories out. I created a custom exercise called "bodybugg" and I enter the values manually everyday.

Type II Diabetes is reversible if you're committed to making a lifestyle change. You're here, so I definitely think you're interested! :) Just google "reversing type II diabetes" and get started! Good luck! <3

I had mine out in 2003.... I was overweight then, but nothing like I am now. I do know that my gall bladder removal had nothing to do with my weight gain. My weight gain was due to chronic pain (back injury), depression and not giving a crap about what I ate. Fast forward 8 years... I have my pain and depression under…

A 5pm weigh in is a tough one! eek.... who decided that was a good time? Honestly, I think I would be afraid to eat on that day, which doesn't promote healthy weight loss. :( Anyway... on MFP, go into Settings -> Diary Settings -> Nutrients Tracked. Be sure to have sodium and potassium selected so you can see those values…

look up a "Total Daily Energy Expenditure" (TDEE) calculator. That's the number they use to create your calorie goal.

to lose weight, you need a calorie deficit. To lose 1 pound a week, you need a 500 calorie deficit each day. You need to achieve your deficit via exercise. As important as it is to count your calories in, you also need to count your calories out.

The amount of water you're drinking is fine, so don't worry about it. With high temps, it is so critical to hydrate! About the scale... since you weighed yourself on 2 different scales, there really is no way to tell if you lost weight or not. Best to start with that first weigh-in using your own scale.

Take the clothes you were wearing that day and weigh them, just to see what you get. I do that sometimes. A kitchen scale works perfect. Water weight is something that just happens. *sigh* Two weeks ago, I weighed in and only lost 1 pound. I knew I was retaining water though (ankles were swollen, felt sluggish), so I…

So inspirational! Thanks for sharing your success!

the absolute BEST thing you can do - when you have a craving, go brush your teeth!!! seriously. Buy an extra tooth brush and tube of paste to carry with you. This helps get that "taste" out of your mouth and it doesn't involve food. A craving only lasts about 15 minutes. Brush your teeth and suffer through the rest.…

I was never a milk drinker, so when I stopped eating dairy, it was no big deal to give it up. I found that I missed cereal though, so I picked up a container of soy milk to try. I almost puked it was so revolting. Needless to say, it took me some time to find the courage to try almond milk. What a relief! Honestly, I don't…

Listen to Jillian Michaels' podcast called "Debunking the Plateau" http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jillian-michaels-show/id418368811 She has a lot of great things to say about the reasons why we plateau, and it's helped me a lot. In a nutshell, you have to find your consumption "sweet spot" and it has to do with not…

MFP calculates your calorie allowance using your BMR (the calories your body burns each day at rest), daily activity level and your weight loss goals (the calorie deficit needed each day) . So, the calorie allowance you see has the calorie deficit already accounted for. Once you add exercise, it creates an even larger…

I love Trader Joe's Multigrain O's (basically multigrain cheerios in a TJ's box) with some almond milk and a banana. Pretty standard, but it gives me a good start in the am.

Listen to 2 podcasts by Jillian Michaels for some great info: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jillian-michaels-show/id418368811 First, listen to #3 - "Debunking the Plateau" Second, listen to #1 - "Jillian Talks Salt" I'll tell you one thing, joining MFP was a great step! When I started tracking my food, I was…

I felt the same way, but you know what I decided? It's my body and MY health and to H*E*L*L with what everyone else thinks. So I pulled on my workout clothes and hit the pavement. If someone wants to drive/pass by and silently judge me for the way I look, then they are shallow idiots. I've decided that the intelligent…

google these words - pasta dry to cooked conversion there are several sites that address this. Happy cooking!

Step one - realizing that what you're doing is unhealthy. Check! :) Step two - find a doctor and get help. I know it's hard to do and it probably seems impossible right now. Please know that eating disorders don't just go away. You need someone, a professional, to help you through it. Please don't wait.

I think you should get a bodybugg/bodymedia armband or a heart rate monitor. That's the only true way you'll know how many calories you burn during exercise. These exercise calculators are just estimates based on a standard. I have a bodybugg. I take my total calories burned and plug it into a custom exercise I created on…

Definitely listen to Jillian Michaels' podcast about Debunking the Plateau. Today. It helped me understand this topic in a whole new way. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jillian-michaels-show/id418368811

I looked at your graph. I see daily fluctuation (which is normal... water weight, or otherwise), but I also see overall weight loss (which is awesome!). I really don't think you're doing anything wrong, Lady. Daily fluctuation is just a fact of life. *shrugs* It sucks, I know, but 4 pounds in 2.5 weeks is great!

Just curious, but how do you definitely know it's not water weight?

The same exact thing happens to me. This morning, I was down 3, but tomorrow I can guarantee I'll be up 2. However, I've been here for a month now and I am losing. I've been listening to Jillian Michaels' podcasts, and she said that this type of weight fluctuation is normal due to water retention. She recommends keep…
