I'm on depo and was obese when I started it and am now overweight and still losing. It doesn't make me hungry and it's decreased the amount of water I retain when it would normally be my TOM. Different people react differently and as Sallerina says, if it does happen to increase your appetite, that's not something that…

I used to get to the gym at 5:30 and I can promise it gets easier and easier!!! My gym now doesn't open early enough so we've just canceled our membership and I'm getting back to getting up for a run at 5! I love the fact that it's "over with" (apologies to people who love their work outs - I prefer to be done with them!…

Soft tacos! Or else I'd probably either bake or poach them, toss them in some seasoning (cumin? chili pepper? Paprika?) and use them in salads for lunch!

I personally think it's more important to watch your sodium - fats, *if* they're good fats, can be good for you! And 2-5 grams of fat over is nothing! I'd say stick to the least processed food that you can possibly get (preferably not at all!) - that way you'll know you're getting quality fat and low sodium!

The small, frequent meals thing doesn't really work for me, so the only meal I have that's that small is breakfast - I tend to have a slice of rye bread (low GI), with a scrape of butter (the real thing - I try to avoid anything with ingredients that I've never heard of, LOL), and an egg (usually in the form of an omelette…

I've just started getting them and I actually don't think they're all that pricey. I'd probably spend £4 on snacky type stuff in my weekly shop! And even if nuts are high calorie, I find that they fill me up far better than biscuits or whatever else lurks around the office!!

Weirdly I get it from white bread - if I have a bagel for breakfast it's a guarantee I'll have it on the way to work, but if I have a piece of low GI bread and an egg I'm OK.... Odd because normally you read that it's acidic foods like tomatoes that usually trigger it!

Thame in Oxon but you can add me if you want....

There seems to be quite a lot of research that says green tea is helpful - would be interesting if it extended to "normal" tea as well. But without milk I'm actually not sure I could drink normal tea.... My colleagues and I are going to start a green tea challenge in the office next week - studies seem to suggest that you…

Sadly yes. I did find one shop in Surrey that sells them so have emailed for a price. Does anyone in the US use an Armpocket? I really, really like the look of them, but they're pricey. Does anyone have a Marware? Reviews online are really good..... ejb245, I did look at the Tunebands so that's a possibility. I fear I've…

I've had the worst winter ever for sickness - had flu in the run up to Christmas that took me around three weeks to shake and now I've got a head cold but it seems to have also triggered the cough that I thought I'd beaten. I think I agree with the above the head rule - coughing is no good when you're trying to exercise…

I had a horrid bout of flu just before Christmas and coughed for three weeks after - I only just went back to the gym yesterday. But I didn't gain because I also totally lost my appetite and sense of taste. Don't worry - just rest, drink LOTS of fluids, and you'll be back in no time!

Hi all. I'm in Thame, Oxfordshire but I'm actually American so I'll help you work out those recipe measurements. ;-) I'm back here after a brief hiatus (I just needed a break from thinking about calories) - I managed to almost maintain my loss to date but now I'm really ready to start losing again. Anyone please feel free…

Yep - mine too!!

Good post and SO true - I refuse to get on the scales at night because I'm a morning weigher and I know it'll really bum me out!
-
I'd really recommend it - I used to be a runner but let myself get VERY out of shape. This programme got me back into it!! I actually never finished it - I got to week 8 and had a week's holiday and when I went back to the gym I felt like the programme had sort of taught me to do it on my own if that makes sense so I eased…

I usually manage about 6 - any less than that and I feel quite thirsty when I exercise and I hate that feeling! I have one full pint first thing in the morning, I keep a jug on my desk at work that holds 3 and try to be sure to get through all of that, and then I have one while I work out and one with dinner.
-
I weigh daily but I don't actually think that works for most people - it doesn't really bother me to see small (1 or 2 pound) differences every day but I know it really bothers others. I only record my weight once a week though. I find that it helps me monitor my water and sodium intake and also keeps me honest about…

I think it depends - I don't think there's a single answer. For me it's a pint glass. I've noticed that Americans tend to think in cups (8 fluid ounces). Definitely not a shot glass though! LOL.

Agree with Greek yoghurt and houmous (though I have portion control issues with houmous - it's SO addictive!) I'm on a clementine kick at the moment. Pretzels if I want something crunchy.
-
I find that when I get lazy and stop weighing and measuring (I'm in the UK so I mostly weigh) my portions start to creep up. I weigh pretty much everything except stuff like frut and veg. I especially find that I under-estimate things like butter (I have a tiny little glass dish that is easy to wash and always by the scale…

I've got the flip flops and I love them. I'm not sure how much toning they truly do but I swear they encourage me to have better posture and it does feel like slightly more of a chore to walk in them.
-
No. I will usually count mowing the lawn because it's a big lawn and takes me a minimum of 20 minutes and I know from my HRM that it raises my heart rate to a zone that is akin to a light work out for the duration of the chore. Anything else, even if it's moving furniture to hoover, I look at as a bonus mostly because any…

From the British Heart Foundation (http://www.bhf.org.uk/Keeping-your-heart-healthy/preventing-heart-disease/cholesterol.aspx) it's specifically about eggs, but the information is relevant: "The recommendation on how many eggs you can eat has changed over the years and is a common source of confusion. In the past we…

I've arranged to get in to work at 8:30 so I can leave at 4:30 - that puts me ever so slightly ahead of the evening rush. I go home, change, and turn around and go straight to the gym - I don't give myself a chance to pause otherwise I would probably lose my resolve. I work out for 45 minutes to an hour then go home and…

Hi guys! I hope everyone's feeling good and nursing their injuries and illnesses carefully! I'm doing W8D2 tonight. I'm finding W8 pretty challenging, but I did manage D1 on Sunday, so I'm determined to do D2 tonight. I've decided that on my non-C25K days I'm going to try doing short intervals at a considerably higher…

LOVE it!! My husband and I watch it religiously! But yeah, that psycho lady has got to go - she really freaks me out. The only thing I don't really like is that it starts to be more about personalities and game play than losing weight and I find myself hoping that some of them don't do well sometimes, which I don't like…
-
Giving this a bump as I'm very curious about the answers!! I've tried green tea again and again but I give up every time because it tastes so vile. But if I had some evidence that it would help burn belly fat I'd probably commit a bit more!
-
Hi guys. Can I wade into your thread? I've been doing C25K for around 8 or 9 weeks now - I started out repeating some days but then realised that it was purely a psychological thing so I decided no more repeating and have forced myself to move on. I'm on W7D2 next and feeling pretty good about it. But I'm a bit discouraged…

This happened to me too - I've got running shoes that are meant to "correct" overpronation but all they do is make my ankles ache and my feet feel like they're going to sleep. I'd try these for sure!
