  • Go for it! I absolutely love mine and like everyone has already said, if you decide you don't like it you can always just take it out. I have a really, really tiny one that I wear at work - it's almost imperceptable. I think they're super cute.
  • Me too! I think everyone's different. Before I went on it I turned into a raging lunatic with the sorest breasts known to mankind every month. I still get a tiny bit of spotting and bloating, but the change in my mood has been an absolute miracle....
  • I make a lot of cauliflower rice but I also use quinoa, millet, and wild rice. If I absolutely can't fathom a particular dish without rice I tend to use basmati - it has a lower GI than other types.
  • One-size-fits-all diets never seem to work for me, but I do use a lot of paleo/primal recipes because I try to eat as clean as possible within reason.... But this is the recipe that got my husband to actually start eating breakfast (handy, small portion, and very savory):…
  • I keep reading it's three. I've been doing three and the only thing I've noticed is a slight shift in my hunger patterns - I'm not eating lunch as early. I'm going to up it to four and see if that helps.... Incidentally I think it's a lot nicer chilled - I'm not a huge fan of it hot, but very cold with fresh lemon it's…
  • I am an absolute believer - it's completely cleared my allergies which were all sinus related and (touch wood) I also don't get colds any more!

  • I may not be a Brit by birth but I can assure you not everyone who lives here thinks Ribena is even remotely tasty. Bleurg!
  • Nah, you're just bored of cat snot.
  • No. And I'd actually say no to all of the artificial flavourings. Water, well chilled, with citrus fruit slices and maybe some fresh herbs. Steer clear of the chemicals - you'll learn to crave water once it's become a habit....
  • To keep my hand out of the office biscuit tin I bring: Weighed measures of nuts - pistachios and almonds are particularly good. Berries - I love summer berries so I'm in heaven this time of year! Carrot sticks (bit dull but you could bring salsa to dip them in - salsa can be out of the fridge) I THINK Trader Joes does…
  • As someone who's suffered from compulsive eating disorder in the past I'd say that you should track it - if I have a particularly big meal (not just a bit too much, but like enough to make me feel sick) it's usually a pretty good sign that I need to think about why I'm eating, so tracking keeps me accountable....
  • Couldn't agree more. I'm trying to get away from the fat free obsession that lurks around every corner. The big eye opener for me was realising what they put into "light" and "fat free" stuff to make it taste good. It ain't pretty. I'd far rather have a bit of full fat whatever than a mouthful of chemicals and sugar. I go…

  • Yep. In my 20s. Only I couldn't make myself throw up so I turned to ridiculously obsessive exercise and laxatives. You are so not alone and you CAN get better. Sowntogether I'm SO GLAD you posted - keeping stuff like this a secret is what keeps it going - you need to reach out to people who won't judge you and this is a…

  • Bear in mind that replacing them with "light" and "low fat" alternatives is also going to up your sugar or artificial sweetener and other chemical nasties - they have to make them taste good with something! Crisps/chips are my absolute weakness - I can't have them in the house - "moderation" just doesn't work in this case…
  • I'm pretty sure that was a universal "you" and not specifically you you....
  • But surely it's consolation that we're all different and different things work for different people? I think it also has a lot to do with your ultimate goal - reversing medical conditions, taking off weight fast, fuel for tough work outs, feeling cleaner and healthier, increasing energy, improving libido, etc. - most may…
  • Fat - olive oil, flax oil, etc.
  • I just try to keep carbs under 100g (usually well under). I don't watch fat any more because the "non fat" mentality that has been drummed into me for so long was making me crazy - so as long as my fat is coming from nuts, avocado, and moderate amounts of full fat dairy I don't stress over the number.... And I feel much…
  • I don't know what the muscle connection is, unless maybe you're a bit tired from the allergies and your muscles aren't recovering as fast? But what I can suggest is a neti pot - google it and buy one today! They're weird and a little bit gross but I promise you they work - they flush out your sinus cavity and work absolute…
  • This!! I'm in the process of trying to cut back the wine, but I'm not going to give it up. I personally stick to red wine, preferably organic or at least of a high enough quality that it's not loaded up with chemicals (you'd be amazed at what the cheap makers put in to bulk out the taste - steer clear of anything really…
  • I think water is super important but if you can manage to somehow cut out the artificial stuff that's probably nearly as important IMHO.... Maybe just try citrus fruit in your water - I buy a giant bag of lemons and limes at Costco every 3 or 4 weeks for just this! And the mint is a great idea too - it's really easy to…
  • I eat pretty clean and I still eat bread (though only a slice or two a day at most) as long as it's not mass-produced and full of ingredients that I don't recognise. I tend to go for bakery loaves that just have three or four ingredients. I also eat dairy but only full fat organic (in moderation) because I find that…
  • I just refuse to do artificial sweeteners - I think there's just too much evidence that they're not a good thing to put in your body. My husband and I have replaced squash and juice with chilled sparkling water with a little fresh lemon or lime juice squeezed in. Either that or iced herbal or green tea. It takes a while…
  • I aim for less than 100 a day at the very most and try to make sure that most of that comes from vegetables, nuts, fruits, etc. rather than anything processed (I do have a piece of bread every day but it's not mass manufactured bread). I'm doing a bit of an experiment at the moment and not counting fat grams at all and…
  • Bumping to keep an eye on responses - being tired is probably my number one trigger for eating badly or too much. My theory is that I'm trying to find energy and psychologically I think that fuel will help. The problem with napping is that it's not an option during a workday.... I do my best to stay rested but my mum will…
  • Yet ANOTHER American in the UK! Just sent you a friend request - I live in South Oxon but work in South Bucks and travel into Berkshire pretty regularly....
  • That TED clip is great - they've got the most interesting and enlightening programming!! We have beef maybe once a week and I buy the best sirloin I can find (organic, etc.), cook it whole and then slice it - that way I can control my portion size and add it to a thai-style salad or something.
  • I've cut my carbs to around 85 recently (I get most from fruit and veg but I love bread too so to avoid feeling deprived I have one slice in the morning with breakfast but I make sure it's the lowest GI bread I can find (rye sourdough at the moment - from a bakery and with very few ingredients!) and I feel so much better…
  • I think almonds, walnuts and brazil nuts are meant to have the most nutrients.
