Cis and Trans are chemistry terms for spatial orientation of hydrogen atoms around a double or triple carbon bond. It is not a specific form of fat. As i have explained in one of my previous posts, partial hydrogenation of unsaturated fats may lead to trans unsaturated fat. Similarly like it mentions that bacteria do it in…

That statement was meant in a sarcastic tone. But there is enough evidence to suggest that substituting saturated FAs with MUFA and PUFA has a long term effect in preventing CHD/CAD. Its all there on the net. Just google it. Or refer to the wikipedia link.

I don't know what your are trying to imply but yes a little knowledge does go a long way. And irrespective of whether it is butter or hydrogenated oil, all saturated fats enter the same metabolic pathways and are broken down into fatty acids and some by-products. Lippincot's Biochemistry is a good start to understanding…

Of that lower carbohydrate and high fat diet, what percentage of total fat was saturated fat and what was unsaturated fat?? And i support you in this. You have made an informed decision. That's all i insist upon.
-
Did you refer to the links to the studies in that wikipedia article?? The reduced incidence of CHD varies between 5-25% by substituting Saturated Fats with MUFA and PUFA. I couldn't open the pdf link but the History of the Framingham clearly mentions increased cholestrol as a risk and if you study Fat Metabolism and…

You mean getting subjects to eat saturated fat and wait till they die of Heart Attack?? P.S. - Not trying to win an argument here. There is enough evidence to prove that substituting Saturated Fats with MUFA and PUFA significantly reduces the risk of CHD and Stroke and that is good enough for me to make that change.

"there is no direct correlation or inconclusive correlation between saturated fat intake and the risk of CHD. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturated_fat#Cardiovascular_disease Out of the 12 studies mentioned, 10 clearly point to a direct evidence of an increased risk of CHD with an increased intake of saturated fat.

"French paradox, anyone? " French have different genes than Americans. Thats not a paradox. If a study is done about CHD incidence on French in France and French in America, then you can say that. I don't know about the French but a study was done on Japanese in Japan and Japanese in America and the latter clearly had an…

"Now, here's the interesting part. When he went in for his final check before beginning chemo...his level of cancer had been reduced substantially. " Tumors are known to shrink by themselves. Tumors have a high turn over rate i.e. rate of multiplication of cells, so they require a lot of nutrition and as they grow…

"While all trans fats are saturated fats not all saturated fats are trans fats, and there for cannot be classified the same as being bad for you." Buddy trans fats are 'UNsaturated', the ones we talk about anyways. I don't want to be confrontational. But any 'Solid' fat like butter or cheese or ghee and certain oils,…

Little knowledge is a dangerous thing. HYDROGENATION is the process of adding hydrogen to convert the double carbon bonds[Unsaturated fatty acids] into single bonds[saturated]. The cis and trans refers to the spatial orientation of double carbon bond and that is a result of partial hydrogenation.
-
I guess you haven't heard about a process called 'HYDROGENATION'
-
If the research is funded as you claim, why would the companies that make saturated fat stay quiet. BTW rather than just researching for articles, have you tried to understand the processes involved in the same?? 'WHY' is always more important.

You don't have to eat fried food when you eat out. Opt for grilled food. Most of the restaurents have healthy choices these days as well. Or you can say how you love food cooked my your mum and would rather have that than go out. Nobody gets hurt and everybody is happy :)

Surgery is only recommended for those with a BMI>40 or the morbid obese. It comes at too high a price, i mean physiologically. But i don't have any problem if people want it.

Well i usually have 1/2 cup of oatmeal with 1 tbsp flax seed and mashed banana and blueberries. Works for me.

Somestimes SCIENCE can't explain everything i guess because logically water which has a neutral ph[=7] should ease the acidity. And soda which is basically carbonic acid should aggravate it but here we have everything to the contrary. P.S. - Please drink water. It is good for acidity. And avoid soda.

Which app did you use for the push ups

It is important to understand the process involved that leads to weight loss. Most of the herbal stuff has a lot of side effects. Even the weight loss pills help one lose weight. So be cautious. I heard the oolong tea from China helps one lose weight but then again some studies show it is just a placebo effect.
-
If you lose it slowly, like 1 pound a week, then it should be fine. That's usually a problem when one loses large amount of weight over a short period of time.
-
Same problem with me. One smoothie and a glass of milk and that's it for the day. I almost overshoot everytime. I think when you exercise, one can add a bit more but still i am keen to know what the experts have to say about this.

You may need to get your thyroid levels checked. Taking a good supplement for iron is a good idea but you gotta speak to a doctor because sometimes there is problem in absorption of iron in which cases you may need to take iron in injection form. As far as i am aware, iron deficiency doesn't play that much of role.

If you are crying, its a good time to call them back and tell them that your apology was sincere and how it made you feel when they said otherwise.

I second Katey. Just change the activity level.

If you are not able to achieve one goal, don't be discouraged. The trick is to atleast meet the previous goal. And keep trying till you reach the current goal and then move onto the next. Every person is different and the progran is not perfect. That's what i would do. Yes i drink water esp when i am running on treadmill…

It depresses the CNS, the amount would vary depending upon how ones body metabolizes alcohol. Its can't be standardized.

That's right. You need to stop and touch the sensor to get your heart rate. If you have a smartphone[Android or iphone] you can download an app which will do the same thing for you and you won't have to buy the watch. Check www.instantheartrate.com
