  • If you don't feel comfortable swimming then walk, if you can do that. You don't have to walk fast or at an incline or anything crazy to start off with. Start with what you can handle and work your way up.
  • Don't get discouraged if you haven't succeeded in the past or need to repeat a week. From my experience I have started it many times and have struggled a few times or fell off the healthy bandwagon. If you are committed to running just keep trying and push through the mental blocks. If running isn't for you don't sweat it…
  • I always do it after I use equipment but have noticed no one else seems to, so it's probably a good thing to do.
  • I usually lose nothing for weeks and then suddenly one week lose 5+lbs. It's really unmotivating, I agree, but if you are doing things right the results will come... Just maybe not in the perfect pattern we would prefer to see :)
  • 27, just graduated from undergrad in June and will be starting grad school in September :)
  • I found I had a huge napping problem when I tried to sleep the recommended 6-8 hours a night. It turned out that for me this was just not enough. I now sleep 9-10 hours whenever possible and no longer need to take a nap (or live off of energy drinks/coffee!). Consider trying to get another hour or two of sleep a night if…
  • If meat substitutes don't freak you out, I like the gardein brand stuff. The have all sorts of mock meats (chicken, turkey, beef, fish) that usually have high protein and some carbs but lower fat. I think they taste pretty good, but a few of the vegans I know think they taste too "realistic", if that makes any sense to you.
  • I agree with this as well, it seems to satisfy people. I don't understand why people behave this way to be honest. Maybe it's an American thing? I experienced the same behavior last time I lost weight. People won't take "no thank you" or "I'm counting calories" as an answer. Although now that I'm vegan, I don't have to…
  • You don't need to eat breakfast in order to lose weight! This is a common misconception. It is your total calorie intake over the day (and thus the resulting deficit) that matters. If you would rather save those calories for solid food later on in the day then go for it! :)
  • Alright, I'll try to live up to your expectations and be mean from now on
  • Hello, I am a newish vegan as well. You can feel free to add me if you'd like. I have been using mock meats to help with protein so far, as well as vegan protein powders and bars. It can be a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to get all your macros in when you are first starting out. As for supplements, I take a…
  • I take a multivitamin and B12 because I'm vegan.
  • I take a multi-vitamin and a B12 supplement (I have a vegan diet).
  • I grew up near Winnipeg, Manitoba but I now live in sunny southern California :)
  • I am vegan. When I first became vegan I lost 20 lbs, but then as I learned more and more about what was vegan, that didn't last. There are tons of vegan junk foods (and "accidentally" vegan junk foods!). I also know someone who is over 300 lbs and has been vegan for many years. It definitely does not mean you will…
  • I grew up near Winnipeg, MB. I live in Irvine, California now though, but still feel free to add me :)
  • When I couldn't fit the standard size graduation gown. I had to ask in front of a bunch of other people if they had bigger sizes because I could not zip it up. Considering a graduation gown is basically a potato sack, I was mortified. -_-
  • I am a new vegan of 6 months. Love it but am still struggling to balance my macros (protein mostly). Would love adds from any fellow vegans so feel free :)
  • I'm a newish vegan: 6 months. I'm still struggling with protein as well. I'm new to the site and looking for friends for motivation and support. Feel free to add me :)
  • I'm 27 and just joined. Trying to get on track before starting graduate school in the fall! Feel free to add me :)
