  • Blueberries and strawberries(almost everyday), and an apple (most days). Chia seed on nearly every breakfast too.
  • It's odd, as I've lost weight and changed my diet I've been surprised how malleable taste is. I used to dislike carrots and now I kind of like them, even raw. I never thought coffee without sugar was possible but that's how I love it now. And while I've always liked almonds, I too have become an almond nut. I eat them…
  • Good question, I've wondered the same thing myself. I find it interesting that after a good workout I crave healthy things. It's certainly possible to crave things for multiple days. I also think it's possible to condition yourself to crave something. I've gotten in the habit of grabbing a few almonds just before I head…
  • This is the vegan black bean soup is simply the best! Almonds are an awesome snack - high in protein and fiber. My wife and I usually end our day with a delicious parfait - strawberries, blueberries, banana and almonds with frozen Cool Whip and whip cream (you can use non-dairy if necessary).
  • My journey started pretty much the moment I left my Dr.'s office after receiving my type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I weighed 222ish at the time. I immediately stopped soda, drastically reduced my carb intake, greatly reduced my processed food intake and ate a LOT more fresh fruit. About 2 months in, I started using…
  • Yes, it was frightening. My lifestyle change actually began when I left the Doctor's office. I started with cutting soda (totally), most sugar and very low carbs. I lost my weight fairly quickly and I was off the diabetes meds after about 4-5 months. My blood sugar is now in the normal range. Cooking at home is definitely…
  • Me from Dec 2013 vs. today, Feb 2015. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Apr. 2014 and weighed about 222 lbs. I am currently 167 lbs. and off the diabetes meds. My eyes are much bigger looking today and I have visible cheekbones now.
  • I topped out at 225. I think I was about 222 when I got my diabetes (t2) diagnosis last year. I'm sure if I ate and did no exercise (as I used to) I would climb back up to 220ish. Fortunately, I have learned how to eat better and enjoy it so (knock on wood) I think I'm gonna stay around my current 167ish. I've pretty much…
  • Look for foods high in protein and fiber. Almonds are an awesome snack food - high in both. I would also recommend oatmeal (plain, not the mixes) very filling. Beans are also very filling. Good luck!
  • After my Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis I had to make a lifestyle change and I did. I lost 60 lbs, got off the diabetes meds and felt wonderful in many ways - except I developed constipation. I had been extremely regular - 2-3 times a day, no prob but now I found it often difficult to go. I began to pay very close attention to…
  • I tried to switch to brown rice but I couldn't do it. I just can't get past the mealy texture and taste. I was able to ditch sugar in my coffee and ditch soda all together but I just can't do brown rice. To answer your question check out this.
  • I started at a size 42(+) pant - hard to say what size for sure, at some point I couldn't button the 42's. After I lost about 25-30 lbs. I got a pair of new jeans (size 36) as well as a few new shirts (mostly larges down from XXL). I have since passed the 36's on to my son and I now wear a 32 and medium shirts. I have been…
  • 60 lbs since last April. I have finally reached my pre-marriage weight of 165 and I can finally wear my wedding ring, something I couldn't say for about 18 of our 20 years of marriage. Type two diabetes scared me straight.
  • My wife and I usually have a parfait after dinner: a scoop of frozen(trust me, it's almost like ice cream) lite Cool Whip, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries - topped with a little whipped cream. About 150 cal by my reckoning an SOOOOOO good!
