Hi ladies! So sorry I haven't been around lately. Medical school is kicking my butt and I haven't even started "real" classes yet! Tomorrow's the first big day: I'm shadowing an anesthesiologist all day. On the plus side, my hectic schedule means I don't really have time to binge or dwell on food. On the down side, I…

Hey gals! Mollie: Glad to hear this program sounds good! I read your... status update? Whatever it's called haha, this morning. I've read about not using scales in my binge eating book, but I'm not sure what I think about it. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts as you work through the program! Best of luck! Steph:…

Well, logging has pretty much been an epic fail for me this week for two reasons. 1) I didn't get internet hooked up until yesterday afternoon and 2) I've been eating terribly while moving. I could have easily gone to the library to log, or to the Starbucks across the street, but I didn't. Ugh. Anyway, today is a new day…

What about a logging challenge? Not sure how well you ladies are doing with logging everything, but mine still needs some work (like the nibbling while cooking or the quick chug of milk out of the carton).

That's such great news! Have fun at the convention!

Hey gals, Sorry for the recent lack of updates. I've been moving into my new apartment where I don't have interent access yet. Water this week has been both good and back. Because I was working up a sweat with moving, I drank quite a bit more than usual, but still not enough. I'm going to try really hard to get my 8…

Hi Mollie, Looks like you're doing well overall :) I'm sorry to hear about your mom; I sincerely hope she continues doing well! When will you hear back from the doctor? Hopefully everything is ok.
-
Awesome, way to go Mollie! I ended up binging yesterday :( But today is a new day and I'm not going to let the slip up continue like I have before. Back on track right now! Perseverance is the key to success, right?

Mollie, What a great way to keep track of your calorie goals! I think your goals all sound good, especially exercise!. How's it coming? I find I get fatigued if I don't let myself rest at least one day/week. I initially tried just going lighter that one day, i.e. walking for an hour rather than the gym, but I still found…

OK cool, thanks. I'll ask around. It'd be nice to have some guidance, esp. re: strength training. I've done a lot of it before, but that was when I was swimming comeptitively. I'm not really sure what or how much of different weights I should be doing. Damnv32: Great job with the caffeine! Glad you're over that initial…

You can do it, jessid92198! :) Sugar today was pretty good. A couple of grams over, but from fruit (figs, mmm!) so I'm counting this a successful day!
-
GuamGrly: I think those are great goals! Are you planning on running a half-marathon at the end, or just running for the exercise/peace of mind/great feeling? I like how you put finding a plan that works for you long-term as a goal. It's so easy to get caught up on short-term, unsustainable diet modifications that don't…

Hey! It's been a little while since this thread has been updated, so I thought I'd check in. I know you don't have home internet access, Mollie, that you have a busy week, Steph, and that you have a lot of things on your plate, Rainbow. When you get a chance, I'd love to hear how you're doing :) I've been doing fairly well…

I was doing really well with sugar today until I had the yogurt and berries from Tim Hortons; I didn't realize how much sugar it had (25g!) until I put it into my food diary. I guess that makes sense, seeing as it's processed and flavoured yogurt, but at least I learned something from it. I like the idea of this challenge;…

Hey gals, Sugar for this week's challenge sounds good. I was over by 4 today, but the majority of that came from the cherries I ate. I didn't eat any "junk food" sugars. I think I'll count that as a success despite being a little over :) Hope you're all doing well!
-
That sounds like a very busy schedule; I hope you do fit the walk in, it'll make reenergize you and make you feel so much better :) I go to the gym 5 day/week for an hour (30 min walking on treadmill, 30 min cycling) and an aerobics/zumba class twice a week. My big challenge will be fitting in enough exercise once I'm back…
-
Mollie: No worries. It sounds like it might be nice to be internet free for a while. Based on how much time I spend by my computer, I bet you're getting a lot of things done! I'm in Halifax this weekend, the city where I go to school, for my friend's wedding + moving things into my apartment. I've been here for two days…

Let's do it :)

Hey Gals, Just checking in on how you're all doing! Steph: That's crazy hot. It's only been 36 celcius max here, probably because we're near the ocean. I remember it getting up into the 40s when I was in Cyprus, and I found that almost unbearable. How is the packing going? Are you getting excited about school? Will you be…

Hey Gals, Sorry it's been such a long while since my last update. I've really been struggling with motivation these last couple of weeks. I just eat and eat and eat! Surprisingly I've only gained back 3 lbs, and that's the day after a serious binge so I may not even be up that much. I suppose I have been active this whole…

Mollie, I'm glad you've found this program and that they seem flexible with payment options. I really hope you get approved! The connection between your original program and this one is great... hopefully that means this one will help you as well! Please keep us updated :)

Hey gals, just checking in since it's been a while. Mollie: That's great news about the program! I hope it does everything to help you. How is your weekend in Ohio going? Steph: Hope you're hanging in there. I sent you a message, so I'll leave it at that. My weekend was great. My brother, sister-in-law, and nephew visited…

That's a great plan, Mollie! Planning ahead is key. Trips, family visits, vacations, celebrations, etc. are a fun part of life and food is a big part of that. It's great that you can acknowledge that overindulging happens and not deprive yourself during these events. I think it's good that you're looking to maintain during…

Hey gals, glad to hear you're doing well! Mollie: Great blog! What a great way to motivate yourself. I admire your perseverance! And congrats on your loss! Steph: What kind of music festival was it? Sadly, I don't have too many in my area. It's too rural. That's really cool you're learning to play piano! My vacation was…
-
Mollie: That's great to hear! I hope it keeps working; it sounds like an excellent motivator! Well done on the weekend! Steph: The festival (and books!) sounds fun. Sorry to hear about the food situation. What do you think is going on? It's hard to get your mind on track sometimes. Just wanted to let you gals know I'm…

Thank you, Mollie and Steph. How are you two doing? And I'm reading Overcoming Binge Eating by Dr. Christopher G. Fairburn. It focuses a bit more on bulimia than binge eating disorder (which would have been very helpful a few years ago!), but there is information about that, too. The author suggests that cognitive…

Just a quick update: I'm back to logging calories after two weeks. The overcoming binge eating program I'm trying suggests binge eaters shouldn't log calories because it gives them a sense of deprivation, which perpetuates the binge eating. While this is to some extent true for me, not counting calories at all was much…

Steph: Glad you had a good time! I'm ok with posting either on this board or on pages, whatever works. Mollie: Good job on the past couple of days and I hope the therapist helps you. I think you mentioned this is the same therapist as before? It'll be nice to have that continuity and history. :) Mallory: Welcome! Sounds…

Well done, Rainbow! How was your roadtrip, Steph? How are you doing, Mollie? I hope you have better luck with the scale this week, now that that lovely time of month is over!
-
Mollie: Glad to hear you did well! Stay positive even if the scale isn't exactly what you want; like you said, lots of sodium and TOM and scales aren't always the best way to assess your progress or success. Also, I like the quote you posted. Steph: I know what you mean about eating family things! Mine looks at me kind of…
