As a former Personal Trainer (about to start again as well), I would love a gift card to GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.

Hello Marcie, I live in Upper Marlboro, MD and I go to the LA Fitness on Watkins Park Drive which is really close to you. I guess since we don't belong to the same gym it would be hard to work out together but I can definitely give you some tips on exercises, healthy eating and support if you'd like. Sometimes I even…

I really need a Fitbit because I'm truly not capturing the total of how much I walk. Anyway I catch the subway to work everyday and I purposely get off at the station that is a mile away from my job. So I've been getting in two miles a day just walking from the subway to my office and back to the subway.

Thanks everyone! I have decided to go with the Fitbit but haven't decided with one yet. I am hopefully going to get it this weekend! I will let you guys know which one I get.

Good morning Asheea! I'm not sure yet. I went to the Fitbit website and saw that they have the Flex, the One and the Zip. They all look pretty cool. I'm leaning towards the Flex though because I love the fact that it's a band. The other problem that I have is that I am not really technology savvy and the Flex seems like it…

Hello Melissa, Also check out the post I made about two weeks ago entitled Walking apps and pedometers. There were some good responses in there. I plan on getting a Fitbit myself.

Had an awesome day for fitness yesterday! I walked 2 miles during my lunch break and 2.5 miles after work. Then I went to the gym to weight train. I slept like a rock last night. I still haven't gotten my pedometer yet, so I don't know how many steps I took. :(

Definitely my challenge would have to be eating too much carbs and sugar and not getting enough protein. Logging my meals into MFP has really helped me see that I wasn't eating healthy. It's no wonder I wasn't losing any weight. Some of the things I thought were healthy really weren't. It just goes to show you that you…

I walk on my cardio days (in between lifting days), which is Tues, Thurs, and Sat. If I don't walk on one of those days, I will get on the elliptical machine for an hour. When I walk, I will normally walk for 3 miles. I really need to get a pedometer as soon as possible because I should be taking into account my daily…

Thanks Asheea! I will definitely check it out.

Good morning everyone, I just joined the group today and I am excited to meet new friends who enjoy lifting weights and living a healthy lifestyle. I started lifting weights in HS while playing sports and continued to lift weights for many years afterwards. When I got married, had kids and my career started growing, I took…

Hello everyone! I'm really glad that I found this group. Thanks Melissa for moderating In my younger years I used to be a gym rat and very athletic. I used to run quite a bit as well. Once life (family, job kids, etc) got really busy I got out of working out for a few years and packed on some weight. Now that the kids are…

Hello everyone, I'm a former athlete, gym rat and personal trainer (believe it or not), who has let life get in the way of working out and eating right. I have gained about 20 unwanted pounds recently. I'm trying to get back into a more healthy lifestyle but I need a lot of help and motivation. I also love to encourage and…
