I've given up carbs and it's really working for me. I'm definitely insulin resistant though - my fasting blood glucose was 5.4 the last time it was tested so only 0.1 away from pre-diabetes and I'm only 29. This was after years of eating mostly good carbs. I feel so much better now that I've stopped eating high carb food…

That will be water weight. Are you coming up to your time of the month? If not you are probably eating too much sodium or not drinking enough water.

The following foods have more fibre than net carbs: Flaxseed/linseed has 27g of fibre and 2g of carbs per 100g. Shirataki noodles have about 5g of fibre and 1g of carbs per 100g. Celeriac (celery root) has about 4g of fibre and 2g of carbs per 100g. Mushrooms have about a gram of fibre and half a gram of carbs per 100g.

The cold meze look fine but I'd avoid the hot meze and the mains all look fine except for the moussaka and the roast turkey.

Fat is used for a lot of things in the body. The cell membrane is made from fat for example, as are some of our hormones. Our bodies aren't capable of making all of the different fatty acids it needs so has to get some from our diets. Fats are also essential in the diet because a lot of vitamins and minerals are fat…

I'm low carbing so I get most of mine from celeriac which has almost twice as much fibre as digestible carbohydrate.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that it's perfectly possible to lose close to 30 pounds in a month given your starting weight if you cut out all processed food, sugar, starchy carbs, reduce your sodium and increase your protein to about 150g a day. Your diet would have to consist of lean protein like fish,…

You're really not getting enough protein. I've not seen any meat in your diet so I guess you're vegetarian. You can add a lot of protein to your diet by eating eggs, greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, beans and lentils.

I made this the other day and it was rather yummy. 300g low fat cottage cheese 250g low fat cream cheese 3 large eggs 1 tbsp vanilla essence 15 teaspoon sugar equivalent of stevia/splenda etc 1. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff 2. Blend all of the other ingredients (including the egg yolks) in another…

I've had 140g today and have my goal set at 120g.

Yesterday I got up to 98g of protein in my first 760 calories without feeling like I was just shoveling down meat. Breakfast was a pancake made with a large egg, 1.5tbsp each of oat bran and greek yoghurt topped with smoked salmon and low fat cream cheese. Lunch was a tin of tuna and a slice of cheesecake made with low fat…

You've just got to remind yourself why you're doing this in the first place. If your goal seems to far away then break it down into more manageable chunks like half a stone. Maybe come up with a list of treats for when you hit each half stone goal.

You can find a low carb substitution for pretty much everything, I eat a lot of curries, stews etc and just substitute one of the below for the carb. Rice/cous cous - grated cauliflower Mashed potatoes - mashed celeriac/cauliflower Noodles - shirataki noodles Fries/roast potatoes - celeriac You can also do low carb baking…

Eating a low carb diet is the best way to lose belly fat. Having a lot of fat on your stomach compared with the rest of your body is a sign that you have been producing a lot of insulin. Cutting carbs will lower your blood sugar which will lower you insulin levels. I've lost 30 pounds low carbing and pretty much all of it…

Looking at your food diary you're not eating enough protein or vegetables and eating too much processed food. Protein is set really low on here by default which is crazy since it's really good for making you feel full for a long time. Try to add some eggs and lean meat into your diet. You seem to not be eating much in the…

It's carbs that do that to you. If you go for low carb, high protein meals then you shouldn't get this problem. Eggs are fantastic for keeping you full so scrambled eggs or an omelette with smoked salmon or lean ham are good breakfast choices. If you can't stomach protein at breakfast then oatmeal is a good choice because…

Sounds nice. Mine was lovely too. Venison steak cooked at home is as good as fillet steak in a nice steak restaurant with barely any fat and a ton of protein. It's on offer in Asda at the moment - £4 for two 120g steaks. I can also report that celeriac chips ore lovely with a bit of low fat mayo - you don't notice the…

The whole eating frequently boosts your metabolism is a myth. Here's a study which shows that it makes no difference to your metabolism if you eat your calories in two meals or seven: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8399092 Eating more frequently does reduce insulin resistance though so if you eat a lot of carbs you're…

Well done. It's weird the way that happens sometimes. I've lost 8 pounds in the last two weeks despite going well over my calories on four of the days.
-
Actually I think in this case a calorie should have been defined as the energy required to heat one liter of water by 1 degree which would have made a millicalorie the energy required to heat one milliliter by 1 degree.

You haven't entered the full amounts for the tomatoes, red peppers and tomato puree. I make that an extra 250 calories for the whole pot if you use 3 tins of tomatoes.

Thanks.

I can't see your diary, there are options to make it public if that's what you want. What foods are you eating? Processed and high carb foods aren't as satisfying for their number of calories as natural and high protein foods. You'd have to eat a kilogram of broccoli or a large chicken breast to eat the same number of…

You're eating a lot of processed food - I really wouldn't call that a healthy diet at all. If you're going to cut out one thing then make it the diet pepsi, that stuff really messes with your body. You'll feel a lot better if you start cooking everything yourself from natural ingredients. I'm guessing from your diary that…

If you log your exercise the calories you burned get added to your daily calorie goal - this is probably what's happening.

I have a poached egg, a slice of lean bacon, some mushrooms fried in fry light and some spinach which comes in at about 200 calories and doesn't feel like I'm depriving myself.
