  • Yes! I've recently started making pies from scratch and I love using lard in the pie crust. So Yummy!
  • We went to the party. He was well behaved and had a great time. He was shy for the first five minutes, which is very normal for him, and then he was comfortable playing with his friends. He is a bit of an introvert as some others mentioned. If he held onto me or was uncomfortable I would have left but he was just fine. I…
  • Not going was an option. Letting my kid be a little terror is not.
  • It's called parenting. If your mom let you make all of your own decisions at 4 years old you probably wouldn't be alive today.
  • Oh, and "tell the mother he was in a bad mood" lol. Also, not acceptable. ETA: I follow this line of thinking if he was a baby and maybe not feeling well. My son is old enough to control his behavior. I wonder from some of these responses if it's been quite a while since you had a 4 year old. I say that because he is…
  • Interesting responses. I laughed out loud at the comment about making him go when he doesn't want to won't end well and he'll have a fit. That is simply not an option, I don't allow that behavior at any time for any reason. I am the parent and he will be well behaved in any situation whether he is excited to be there or…
  • I have a small dry erase board on my fridge that I write on what I plan to make for dinner each day of the week. Helps for meal planning and reminds me to take stuff out of the freezer on time.
  • Just like you are applying portion control to each meal, each day, tailgating will be no different. I love the previous poster's suggestion of storing up 100 cal per day to use for a splurge on game day! Good luck and GO DAWGS!!
  • Great saying! But it's got to be pretty decent beer for me to hang out with someone I don't like :-)
  • Hahaha!!! :drinker:
  • OP, it sounds like you have finally had enough and you are ready to leave. You mentioned that your family doesn't know. They can help you. Talk to them. You know by now that he isn't going to change. I believe in marriage too. I understand what you mean. But your son is the most important and it's your responsibility to…
  • Awesome post! Thank you for sharing. :flowerforyou: Good Luck! I hope you continue to push yourself and I think it's great that you are doing it as a family. ETA: I don't find walking boring at all outside. Maybe try listening to your favorite music or going for a short walk with your wife after dinner a few times a week.…
  • My son is 4. About once a week he asks for a "milkshake" for breakfast. This consists of a scoop of protein powder, a full banana, and a little ice. He loves it and thinks it's a special treat. I wouldn't let him have that every day but I don't see anything wrong with it for your son on occasion. Maybe one or two days a…
  • Great question! 1. I am taking the advice of all these nice people and being nicer to myself. I'm open to suggestions on how to get that started. 2. I am not setting deadlines for weight loss. As of now I have lost 2.4 pounds in six weeks. Not a big number but I didn't quit. 3. I am taking this much slower. Instead of…
  • I think it should be left up to the teacher to chose which color of ink they would like to correct papers in. There are far more important things to worry about concerning our children's education. Obviously this politically correct, coddling, everyone is a winner approach is not working based on the bullying and abuse…
  • School is a place that is supposed to set students up for success. They are there to learn, to grow, and to slowly become adults. Most students will grow up to be adults and most adults will have a job for the majority of their life. Most jobs will require you to wear modest clothing and not have any of you underwear…
  • I agree with the OP and think some people are over the top with their dogs. My father-in-law is an example. It's a hassle to do anything with him when he wants to bring his two giant dogs along (in the boat or in the truck). I love them, one is in my profile pic :-) But there are places that people belong where dogs do not.
  • I just use Paula Dean brand knives with the red handle. Nothing fancy compared to professional knives I am sure but my husband keeps them sharpened for me. Really I'm just posting here to say the knives you made are BEAUTIFUL!
  • I had a Fitbit and I LOVED it, but it was the one they recalled. I sent it back and got my refund but I haven't found anything I like as much to replace it with yet.
  • I was a very skinny child and teenager with very close friends who put a lot of importance on being thin. I don't know at what age or weight I started hating the way I look but now I can't remember a time when I was at a size I was content with. I WISH I had confidence in the way I look but unfortunately I do not. I think…
  • Thank you! I have seen your responses in other threads and you always give sound and fair advice. I certainly appreciate it. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm close, at 32. But, it's not for me. I do however have a lot of respect and gratitude to those who do and have previously served. Thank you for that. :flowerforyou:
  • Thank you! Yes, I agree, excellent advice. I tend to get discouraged when job qualifications require a specific degree or skill set that I do not have. I have seen listings where the majority of the job seems to be one thing but they employer is asking for a degree that would only apply to a small portion of the job…
  • I think I'm too old for that. :-)
  • Well, it's not like I am going to apply for a job as a chef or a nurse, it will still be an office admin type job. I don't have any specific experience in anything else so I'm not expecting a high level job doing something I am completely unfamiliar with. I also don't have a BA, which almost every "good" job I have seen…
  • This advice may be extremely helpful to me. Thank you!
  • I live in Florida, lol. He just doesn't like the look. ETA: I wasn't confident in pulling it off anyway and after he made that comment I just couldn't try it.
  • I wanted to try that look, even bought a cute dress and borrowed my gf's boots. But my husband said it looked terrible. Said boots and dress together are silly. :-(
  • I haven't deleted mine but I took the month of August off from it (mostly). I snuck on a few times to look something up but I deleted the ap from my phone where I was using it most.
