  • brilliant, well done. I've kept my biggest pair just so when I'm having a bad day I can put them on, zip them up and watch them fall to the floor. Perspective like that helps when I'm having a 'this is too tough/I'm getting nowhere' day!
  • Sorry about the broken jaw - hope everything is healing quickly. In the above recipe I'd swap the water for full-fat milk, cream or coconut milk for some extra calories with no extra effort. Unless there's a medical reason for avoiding sugar I'd go for full fat, full sugar ice cream in your milkshakes too. I found this pdf…
  • I really enjoyed August's - thanks for posting September's. I'm in.
  • No you don't - I learn new things all the time; no-one knows everything!
  • this is celery: We eat the bit that grows above the ground this is celeriac: we eat the bit that grows beneath the ground They have a similar flavour and are members of the same family of plants but you can cook celeriac pretty much any way that you'd cook potatoes. Hope this helps.

  • For the first time I'm going to do a running only goal (previously I've counted walking). I do lots of other non-running exercise, so it's a small goal:
  • 1. 0.34 walk 2. 1.57 walk 3. rest 4. 1.3 run 5. 1.1 walk, 1.3 run 6. 1.11 walk 7. 1.12 walk 8. 1.11 walk 9. 1.16 walk 10. rest 11. 1.16 walk, 1.3 run 12. 1.12 walk 13. 1.1 walk, 2.08 run 14. 1.15 walk 15. 1.19 walk 16 & 17 rest 18. 1.1 walk, 1.39 run (with no walking to catch my breath - first time) 19. 1.1 walk, 1.38 run…
  • agreed - which is why I asked OP to consult their doctor. I realise my own experience is anecdotal. Having been seriously ill, I'd rather take people at face value and ensure they seek medical help than instantly dismiss them as a troll.
  • Are you tired? Thirsty all the time? Exhausted all the time? vomiting occasionally? If you have any of the above symptoms with your weight loss, please go to a doctor as soon as possible and ask them to check your blood sugar as you might be diabetic. When I was 19 I went through a spell where I felt truly awful but could…
  • They sound lovely! Anything under 200 cals can be worked into a day pretty easily for me at the moment. I had to give up buying multipacks and "sharing packs" of crisps (chips) though - an open packet is an empty packet!
  • well played! I've no intention of giving up crisps (potato chips) they're lovely!
  • Walking, Lifting (I'm new to this, can't lift a lot yet, but I'm loving it), Running (I started running two months ago), a TRX band and kettlebell class - essentially circuit training I guess, Am thinking of giving spinning a try soon as my gym has just bought new spinning bikes

  • I haven't read all the replies, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating what you've already been told. There might be no way of winning this argument today but you could do exactly as he asked. Keep doing what you know to work; continue the fantastic progress you're making. It's not an instant win but you can do it whilst achieving…

  • I'm 32, female, 5'9" and weigh 210 at the moment. I weighed 225 when I found MFP. My heaviest pre-MFP weight was 244lb so I might not be a twin but I could definitely relate!
  • It's great that neither tie you into a contract - hope you have a great time at your new gym!
  • I'd go for gym 1 because 20 minute drive each way is 40 minutes added to every workout. If you have 70 minutes you could fit in an hour at the first gym, but only 30 minutes at the second. Over time that will add up either to much less time at the gym or much less time at home.
  • 10p is approx 15c - I was amazed and ate a lot of corn! this is lovely: http://agirlcalledjack.com/2013/01/30/spiced-carrot-and-lentil-soup/ This is good - just omit the yoghurt/cream and use whatever fat you have if you have no butter (leeks are often cheaper frozen or substitute onions):…
  • Another vote for this. Also swap canned beans for bulk-bought dried beans vegetables are usually cheaper than fruit (in the UK at least) but offer similar nutrients consider frozen out-of-season veg (in the winter I could buy 4 frozen corn-on-the-cob for 10p in my local supermarket) learn to make soups and casseroles -…
  • You're at college, you're clearly an intelligent young woman. You're self-aware and strong enough to make changes when you need to and you've already made good progress. You also have a whole bunch of people to support you when things are tough. The other person tries to gain their self-worth by belittling others - you are…
  • you say that as though there is another way to eat nutella...  I have no 'no list'. That's one of the things I'm enjoying most about calorie counting; there is no lists of foods that are ok, and foods that are banned.
  • also just spotted that your profile picture bears a remarkable resemblance to my running shoes - are they karrimor?
  • I'm: Female, 32, British 5'9 (175cm) and 210lb (95kg I think) aiming for 168lb (76kg) We're pretty close (although opposite sides of the planet!)
  • Wow! great job! You hit 24 hours on the 17th. I'm new to this - is that a record?

  • Two months ago, I didn't run at all. On Monday I managed to run for 15 minutes with no stops and no walking breaks. I felt like a superhero!
  • You've lost 98lb so far? That's amazing! You know what you're doing. Sometimes I gain more than 1.6lb the day following a salty meal, if you're eating right and maintaining your deficit the weight will come off. Keep doing the things you've been doing to shift the 98lb. It's disheartening when the scale doesn't play fair…
