oops, got the numbers wrong....8:14 is the new record.

o.k. new record 8:41 by ster81. Damn, that's pretty good. How long is "Stairway to Heaven?"

current mfp record 6.5 minutes by duharvalgt

Elbow plank is harder because the force of gravity is more. You are more parallel to the ground.

update: On Valentine's Day, I turned on L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole 2 minutes and 31 glorious, melodic seconds! About 1/2 the class did a plank the entire time (average age about 62) So maybe instead of a time goal, pick a song, and last the song. People were singing instead of groaning. It was great!

Yes, John, I know that most people didn't know it, which is why I am letting folks know. Unfortunately too many trainers are ignoring this. Yes, we do receive nutrition education, and we are tested on that knowledge. But individual nutrition is a matter for a dietician, and exercise program design is what we are schooled…

good points. But I don't know what a doctor has to sign off on.
-
True that. There are trainers that are training people that they have no business training. There are nutritionists that have no business doing food plans for athletes, when they have only done diets for cardiac or diabetic patients. There are some "certifications for trainers" that are just a quick weekend test with a few…

I'm glad your trainer know where his limits are. Hopefully you know where your alcohol limits are. lol But seriously, a trainer should not even give you a calorie limit. They are not qualified to do that. It's different for every person. If you have a calorie limit, then your trainer might be able to give you ideas how to…

You're welcome!

Darling outfit!. Love the heels!
-
unless I'm mistaken, you hold the unofficial plank record. Anyone beg to differ?
-
Well, I like both runkeeper and edomondo. I can kind of cheat with Endomondo because I can put in my strength training as a cardio exercise....but does anyone know a better site for tracking progress on strength training.

New approach in the Pilates class I teach, and more than half the class (average age 60 plus) mastered 2:30 minutes. Here's the approach: We talked about movies up for Oscars. It was done really fast.

They are at Safeway or Haagen's in Washington.

and it's in the mfp data base already. It's only been available in the US market for a week!

thanks. checking them out.

I would be so gone with this. We live in the northwest. Every time we go out to eat, usually some kind of berry crumble something is on the dessert menu. I have made my husband promise me he will not let the server even tempt us.

What would you replace the food with?
-
aha, we think alike my friend!
-
but wait, they'll STILL go to McDonalds and other fast food places. On a positive note, 2 fast food chains are now out of business in our retirement town, and Hostess filed Chapter 11 last week. So maybe things are turning around health wise. Or is the economy THAT bad?

I would say you just may be burning that much. I run AND I teach Zumba. For a long time I thought, no way do I burn as many calories as I do running. But I do sweat a lot. One time I went to a master class, where I did Zumba for over 4 hours, I felt like I had run a marathon which would be the same amount of time....but…

I weigh myself the same time on the same day, when I do. (Right now it's about every other week, since I'm still reaping what I sowed at Christmas) But I wouldn't avoid working out just to affect my numbers on the scale, even if they did. I have never read that in all my years as a personal trainer. Sweating means the…

One of my mirrors broke in the gym I own. Let me just say that guys were lined up waiting to stare at themselves until we replaced it. And we put more mirrors in. They are super happy. But lots of women (including me sometimes) stare at themselves in the mirror when we do Zumba. Could it simply be a combination of checking…

Muscle and Fitness had an excellent aritcle on Hugh Jackson a while ago. Here is the link: http://www.muscleandfitness.com/features/athletes-and-celebrities/celebrity-muscle-hugh-jackman However, the reason I happen to think he is the only man who could come close to tempting me away from my husband, is because not only is…

1) Any current favorite show tune. Right now, it's "sooner or later" from Sondheim's **** Tracy (but only when I am in a place I can sing along) 2) A tie between "Live and Let Die" Paul McCartney or "Dream On" Aerosmith 3) I like the Way you Move "outkast" or "earth, wind and fire" yep, I have a wierd collection of…

Oh, and I posted this somewhere else, but only my good MFP, John responded, but my 62 year old female client did 5 minutes yesterday no problem. Yay her!
