My mom noticed at about 15 pounds. My aunt noticed at 29 pounds and my grandmother noticed at 35 pounds. I'm 41 pounds down now and everyone comments. Starting at 5'3 172 pounds, it took a minute for anyone other than my mom to notice. It can be frustrating when people don't comment, but it's great when they do. :)

The final straw for me was when I actually bought a scale. For a really long time, I would guess as to what my weight was. I was really surprised that I was way over the weight I previously thought I was at. I knew after stepping on the scale and calculating my BMI (I was entry level obese) that I just had to act. I never…

Awesome advice. I think that if I keep changing the subject, they'll get the hint eventually that it's not open for discussion.

You're absolutely right!

Come to think of it, no one ever told me to lose weight. I mentioned that I was going to lose weight to a friend who told me not to lose more than 10 pounds. Now everyone says I look great where I am 40 pounds later, lol :)

Sorry about the username. I'm actually in my 20s, I just use the username because I'm too lazy to come up with anything else, lol. I get what you mean about always seeing fat around my belly, I really just want to reach my goal and strengthen my core :)

This is why so many women have body image issues. No matter what we do, people feel as if it's their right to comment. How sick is that!?!?

Wow!! Thank you so much for all your replies. It makes me feel so much better to hear that. You've motivated me to keep going. Thanks you guys!!!

My weight loss has slowed down considerably as well, so I'm hoping the comments will slow, too. I pretty much do the same though and nod my head. It's just frustrating because people make me feel as if I'm a cause for concern, lol. Glad to know I'm not alone. Thanks :)

Starting weight on June 24th 2014: 172 lbs. Current weight: 135 lbs. Goal weight for Easter: 125 lbs. (might be a lofty goal as the weight is coming off slowly, but it's something to aim for)

Lol. I'm actually happy to hear it. Any fat that I lose I want to lose it the right way, not by barely eating. I want to gain it back so that I can continue with my routine of safe weight loss. Now that I know it's probably just mostly water weight I don't feel so bad :)
-
I suspected it was water weight, as my measurements are pretty much the same. Thanks :)

Awesome! Thanks for everyone's replies. It definitely puts my mind at ease :-)

Lol! I might not return either :) I kind of enjoy it though.

Thanks :) I'll just skip cardio for a while, at least until I feel comfortable putting more pressure on it. Who knows, I might enjoy the break from cardio. Thanks for your reply :)

Thanks! I do eat back my exercise cals. I recently started logging everything I ate after taking a break from it for a while, so I'll just make sure I'm not over eating when I'm not working out. I have MFP set to 1450 a day but eat a bit more even if I'm not working out that day. Thanks for your response. I'm going to stop…

Awesome idea! I'll give it a look :)

It can be totally frustrating. I try to remember how much closer I am to my goal than I was before I satrted. I agree that we just have to hang in there and keep at it. When we reach our goals, we'll be happy we did
-
Thanks :) I feel so much better now that I've lost some weight and started eating healthier.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to check it out asap and see what it recommends. Also, you're totally right that I should change my expectations a bit. I think I've gotten spoiled by seeing the numbers disappear rapidly on the scale each week, lol. I'm going to aim for a pound a week (less is okay) and be happy
-
Thanks :) I have to keep reminding myself that I'm in no rush. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and try to stop being so anxious about the pace. Thank you guys so much for the quick replies and support. You guys are awesome!

Thanks you guys

Wow, I'm really not alone. @gononi, I haven't had any really greasy foods yet, but I do get sort of an after taste at the back of my throat when I eat junk food that totally makes me stop eating it. @Suzzaneishere. I agree that it's tempting to try another type of food after the first one doesn't hit the spot. I feel so…

:) Sounds nice! I totally wish I could lose weight and eat junk, but I know I wouldn't be able to control myself and I'd eat too much, lol.

Thanks. Glad to know I'm not going crazy! It's super annoying, but I can deal. I guess my cheating will have to involve something else, like pistachios, if that can be considered cheating. Thanks for your help :)
-
I agree, it is a good problem to have :) I just wish I could enjoy myself every now and then, lol. Thanks for your reply :)

Thanks Lindsay! Her results are amazing. She looks way better at 142. She actually looks lighter. It was a really great and helpful article. Also, I checked out body gallery, and wow. There are so many different body types. Working out and lifting weights is starting to be really fun and I am excited to see how I change.…

The scale does seem to have a sick sense of humor :) I'm beginning to realize that the measuring tape is my new best friend. Working out is so much fun now, and I have so much more energy than before that I would let the number on the scale discourage me too much. Thanks so much for your encouragement. It's really helpful!

My legs do feel stronger and tighter, so that could be a contributing factor. I'm going to stop stepping on the scale so much, as that only seems to frustrate me, lol. Thanks :)

Hi, Lindsay. My crappy browser couldn't pull op the link, so I googled it. There is so much great info in that article! Thank you so much. I'm going to lower carb and salt intake to see if that helps. I'm really happy with my results so far, but it's great to know that I'm not doing something totally wrong. Changing up my…
