Make a small change and see if you can do that for a week, then add another small change etc. Keep at it!

Portion control is more important then the "types" of food you eat. Also, it's a birthday ... one day out of an entire year ... don't stress too much. I would make your favorite since it's your birthday and eat at maintenance so you can have more calories on this day Happy Birthday!!
