I haven't limited any food group including sugar and have lost 25 lbs in 5 months. It's not the fastest weight loss plan, but I know that eating smaller portions of my favorite foods will help me stick to it longer. I'm 5'5 and going for 140 because that's where I was when I got married.

1200-1600 has worked for me. It's not super fast weight loss but I've lost 23 lbs and it keeps me from totally giving up since I can still have my favorite foods.
