Just like everyone else who posted Go to a running store and get properly fitted for a good running shoe. I have been through two pairs for shoes doing 4 half marathons last year. My particular running shoe is Brooks Ghost...they are great for me. Hang in there you can do anything you set your mind to. Good luck on the 5K.
