I've been kinda lurking lately. Just too busy to post stuff and I didn't want to be the annoying dork who was constantly posting stuff. But I will if you guys want me to because I actually am that annoying dork.

It is all about keeping it simple. If it has a lot of ingredients don't eat it because it isn't good for you. If it has few ingredients but you don't know what some of them are, let alone have the ability to pronounce them, don't eat it.

They would do pretty well. Every one of them has shotguns and canned goods. They are also in excellent physical shape. So, I guess the best advise to give someone when the zombie apocalypses occurs is to convert to the Amish religion and join their community. I think they will allow the Gerber 30-000601 Zombie Apocalypse…

What are Power Pops? I suddenly MUST know!

I started at 258 lbs. My calorie goal is 1700. This is based on my weight, a few measurements, and my activity level. I asked another MFP'er, who has experience with it to calculate my TDEE (total daily energy expendature). She had my calorie goal back to me the next day. Her user name is RunningForIcecream if you want to…

How about making a grain free granola bar? Here is a recipe for one made of fruit and nuts. You'll have to run it through MFPs recipe thing to see where it lands within your food plan. http://www.keeperofthehome.org/2012/09/grain-free-granola-super-easy-use-what-you-have.html BLT - Ezekiel bread, turkey or Canadian bacon,…

My spouse-thing is also a carnivore kinda guy but is working on the weight thing as well. We talked about how I NEED TO DO THIS and his whining will not help me. He put on his big-boy panties and cooks his own meat or buys a sammich while he is out. The vegetarian thing was not difficult to do. I admit I took one bite of…

Well, this is interesting. I've gone vegetarian at the suggestion of the counselor my insurance company has me working with. It has only been 3 days and my weight loss has increased dramatically. I'm eating BIG meals full of veggies. Getting set to make my next menu. If this continues I might just stick with it.

I wish I could do the challenges. I tried. My body said nope, nope, nope! I'm kinda torn up. I have scar tissue that fairly regularly swells or something and hits a nerve in my lower back. It is the kind of pain that drops me. I can be in bed for up to a week. In addition I have a knee that hasn't been right since a horse…

This next menu plan is vegetarian. I'm working with a counselor through my insurance company (love that they do this BTW) and she wants me to do more plants and such. I HATE the recipes they have on their site because they don't post portion sizes or calories, just the recipes. I could easily over eat since portion control…

NICE! I just downloaded that cookbook and the vegetarian one as well. Today just happens to be menu planning day. You just set me up to pwn my kitchen!

Select a portion size of whatever you are craving and savor it. Put it away. Enter it into MFP so you are aware of the calories and sugar you just consumed. Drink a glass of water and brush your teeth. Since you just brushed your teeth, chocolate will taste revolting if you try to eat more.

As it happens, I used to live in the Indianapolis area. 3 food recommendations and some other stuff. Marsh - there are 2 Marsh grocery stores in the downtown area. One or both of them probably has a salad bar. 3 Sisters Cafe - If it is still open, is in BroadRipple and is a vegetarian restaurant. Made it on "Diners,…

@ Melifornia. I found a video on youtube talking about meal prepping and followed the links to this gals site. She has a lot of videos and recipes. http://www.joannasoh.com/90-day-weight-loss-challenge-printable-full-meal-plan/ I tend to have the same meals 3-4 days in a row. It keeps things simple that way. When planning…

The crock pot is a magical device that always has ready-to-eat food in it when you come home from work. I seriously used mine hard-core last year. Every morning I'd dump some stuff in it, set it on low & slow, and food would be ready when we came home from work. Rocked my little world. Any left overs just stayed in it and…

I understand. That is a lot of stress for anyone to have to handle. The first thing you need to change the way you are thinking about the pressures that are on you. 1. Your nephew is going to be alright and you were able to look after all those kids so his mother could be with him. That is a priceless gift you gave to her.…

I've read several articles about IF. From the looks of things you don't fast long enough that it is going to adversely effect the metabolism. Personally I've never tried it but I gotta URL to an interesting article about Intermittent Fasting. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2012/01/25/intermittent-fasting/

I'm in. And the obligatory introductions. 45 year old, female, and a gamer since I was 7. Used to be in IT but got tired of the whole corporate thing. Moved to rural Michigan and now I'm pursuing a gig working at home. Turns out the Amish saw mill next door gets triple the value of their wood if it is kiln dried. Went to…

I'm not doing much right now yet. 2 mile walks once or twice a week and zumba on Thursdays. I've got some physical issues right now that force me to take it easy but I'm getting better every week. You seem to be doing mostly cardio. Add some strength training. Additionally, I HIGHLY recommend the Extreme Makeover Weight…

I will eventually be getting a Vitamix when my current blender takes a dive. Right now my favorite appliance is an Omega Masticating Juicer. Beyond making juice, I can use it for making fruit leather, frozen fruit ice cream, and it will even extrude noodles.

If you happen to have a larger sized rice cooker I can guarantee moist chicken every time. Cooking a chicken this way also keeps the oven from heating up your oven. Ingredients 1 2-3 lb chicken 2 small onions, peeled 1 lemon 2 sprigs rosemary 2 tblsp melted butter or olive oil salt and pepper Cut each onion in half and…

A ripe avocado should be firm but have a slight bit of give when you squeeze it lightly. If it is soft, put it down, ick. If it is hard give it a couple days to ripen.

Went for another 2 mile walk

My absolute favorite, healthy or not, comes out of my garden. Slice a tomato and lightly sprinkle with super thin slivers of fresh basil and garlic. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Drop the olive oil and you can munch it til you can't hold any more. Great for days you need to eat your feelings.
