I try to buy as near to local as I can get. When I lived in FL, it was (Florida) Orange Blossom Honey. Now that I'm in NM, I buy (New Mexico) Mesquite Honey, which has kind of a smoky flavor.

Works for me, too. slowly but surely. I've been doing it for about 18 months. MOL 60pounds. Tests are great, as is my blood sugar, which registers as normal. Doctor likes it, I like it. Yeah for the nutritionist who set me up on it! Only drawback is smelly outputs, but I was expecting that.

Remember nobody is looking at you, except if that is where their eyes happen to land. The gym is the most narcissistic place on earth. People are only concerned with their own bodies. You may as well be invisible-those few people who do get stared at are the ones with the beautiful bodies. Plain old "usses" are ignored.…

I am very luck to have a very good taste "memory", so I can do "virtual" cheats. Usually before I go to sleep (lying in bed), I pick a category, for example, donut-type things, and imagine each flavor individually, long johns, eclairs, apple fritters, devil's food coconut, maple, nut-covered, and so on and so on until I…

Just don't eat more than you want. Sounds simple, huh? Unless MFP gives you a warning (and it will, for me, at less than 1000 calories), just let it be. Then when you get the urge to splurge, you'll have some built in wiggle room. You might be experiencing the dreaded weight-loss plateau. It gets very frustrating when you…

Weigh yourself very seldom. I used to rely on the doctor's scale (like every 3 months or so). I'd rather see pounds at the end of that time rather than 1/2 pound a week, 'cause that weekly seems like nothing. (When I see a tiny amount, I always think that if I had had a bigger c**p, it would have been more--I know that's…

Make an investment in a nutritionist. One visit & then maybe one followup can help you immensely to educate yourself to make wise choices. Every quest should begin by finding the right tools, and the professional advice you can get from a nutritionist (preferably connected to a legit medical practice) is worth your time…

What does your belt say? Belts don't lie. In the time I have been doing this, Ive had 4 new notches in my belt. Notch maker says next time, buy a new belt!

I sneak up on anything I "should" do, since I am resistant to everything. Start logging everything you eat, without trying to accomplish anything. Then, once you've got that ( I have a lying-to-myself issue), then have a look at it and see what small changes you can make without feeling deprived. Go for a walk and log it.…

Check the ingredients on recipe builder. Sometimes the same item varies wildly from one listing to another. Watch that the quantity of each item is correct, as well as the unit of measure. For example, one listing for garlic shows the unit as a clove, but the calorie count for it must be for a whole bulb. Imagine my…

See a nutritionist! It was the best investment my health plan (:-) ) ever made. I went to a seminar on bariatric surgery, and the nutritionist was one of the conditions in the approval process. Never had the surgery, but to this day (almost two years later) I still follow her recommendations. I have lost enough that I…

A statin is not the worst thing in the world. You may have to have your doctor try different ones to get the one that works best with your metabolism. I went through 3 or 4 with side effects from leg pain (worse than my usual fibro and arthritis) to digestive issues until we hit on Crestor, which I've been taking for…

You said it yourself--your child will eat what you eat. Think crunchy, bright colors, (if you must- fun shapes). Start out with a tablespoon or two as a serving. We ALWAYS had a fruit bowl in the kitchen, fresh, unpeeled, in season - and in small sizes, which are usually cheaper than the larger ones. If you are…

duh, veggies ARE mostly carbs! but pick ones with more fiber - like broccoli or carrots or celery. Per nutritionist I'm on very low carb diet, about 50 per day. I use it up on fiber-y breakfast fruit and veggies, and add 2 Tablespoons of Bob's Mills ground flax seed meal to the fruit (1T) and my breakfast eggs (1T). still…

Wow, and you lost almost an inch in height, too! I did the math for the Americans. Starting point 346 pounds. Initial target in 11 months to 168 pounds. Actual end point 119 pounds. 1 Stone = 14 pounds.

Clean eating is a myth. Ask what is dirty eating. It's a stupid turn of phrase.

There's no magic formula. Don't beat yourself up, but then again, don't reward yourself with food for a couple pounds lost. Good luck! You need to find your own motivators. Mine's a family history of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and their ugly side effects - as well as keeping my own blood sugar under control. Hope…

Gee, you look like the guy on last week's "America's Most Wanted!"

things that I make over and over are pretty close to the same every time. Only use recipes as suggestions. I figure everyone burns calories as slightly different rates, and every bit of real food has a slightly different calorie count. Close counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and calorie counts. Since I cook with a LOT of…

In the words of a bad old Italian movie, whose hero kept ripping off the rear view mirrors of the cars he was stealing as he raced away from cops or the bad guys, "What is behind does not mat-ter!" (spoken in an Italian accent). I adopted that as my motto and have lived by it ever since. All that matters is from now on.…

The nutritionist I saw explained that if your calorie intake is too low, your body reacts by lowering your metabolism so you burn fewer calories during the day. This goes back to a defense mechanism against starvation. (our 'cave dweller' past).

Hi - To keep the weight off, you should be aiming at about a pound or so a week, so by my estimation, you're good until about the 1st of November :-) But seriously, it all depends on your age.

note: mine is low-carb, high protein, high fat diet. Hubby is not dieting, just eating mindfully. Mine: Before our walk in the park or with breakfast: Allowed fruit and handful of almonds. Breakie itself: Alternate between 2 over-well eggs fried in butter, and two scrambled eggs w half & half in butter, both topped with 1…

Always! (except at a sleep study I recently completed - that would have been frowned upon :-) )

The boyfriend cooked a massive fryup? Yummy! How many meals would that make in your trying-to-eat-healthy mode? Get out one less leftover containers than there are healthy meals, and divvy your portion up. Give him a big smoocheroo (or whatever pat on the head works), and put all the leftover containers in the fridge. Then…

If you are snarky and rude like me, you ask if they are having short-term memory lapses, since they say the same thing every time. Or you pin a little post-it on your shoulder that says "Yes I am. Thank you for noticing. This is a paid political announcement. I am (your name here), and I approved this message." Or you ask…

Congratulations! I have only been at it since the middle of June. I investigated weight loss surgery (the charts have me at morbidly obese, and I have a couple of co-morbidity conditions), and one of the requirements is 3 months worth of supervised dieting. I have lost some since then on he nutrtitionist's plan, but today…

Try eShakti.com The prices are not too outrageous, and you can customize the sizes to fit you. I have no need for newclothes right now, as I am retired and living very simply, but I would be all over them if I did. I am built generally like you (except you are MUCH smaller), and it is a pain to find something that fits my…
