Oh I see, as in the physical environment. Would you say growth hormones and pesticides effect obesity?
-
Good point but all industries are built to fulfil a need. Supply and demand etc. So I do disagree, that even with the industry relying on people who cannot maintain their weight loss, that we don't have a "fat acceptance" culture that is big enough for it to be a prevalent factor.
-
Really? but surely if we were a society that accepted people being overweight then we would not have a whole multibillion pound/dollar industry based on weight loss?
-
Are you trying to be sarcastic or ironic?

One point, which I find interesting, is the food environment that kids have at schools. My nephews school has very few "healthy options" in the canteen and most things are foods like pizza, toasties, chips and chocolate/sweets - this is age 11-18

Perhaps we should buddy up!!

So I have spent the week logging my current diet. I am eating between 2,500 and 3,000 calories a day! No wonder I am gaining weight and no wonder when I drastically cut my body cannot cope with it. Anyway, I have been shopping and am having a protein rich breakfast of eggs, bacon, mushrooms and low calorie bread for the…

I have seen the error of my ways, good job.

Because it is a tool used for a multitude of purposes? From weight loss to muscle gain? Generalisation...

I think that you are being defensive which is stopping you from seeing his point. He is talking about how many years ago 1950's and 60's it was not the norm to eat junk food in the quantities that we eat them in today. There are studies to back this up.
-
I completely agree with this. Also, social groups and partners in adult life, how they are can influence you food choices.
-
No worries! It got me thinking because left to my own devices I am racking up 2,500 calories a day... which obviously is down to me to adjust and personal responsibility etc etc but it is so easy. Literally without thinking about what I bring into my environment is making me overweight.
-
Yes I can see that but getting up in a woman's face wasn't even commented on by the person who I quoted. Surprised me that such a thing is ignored over the apparent humour of it all. I possibly need to lighten up.
-
But you weren't there and it did not happen to you so how can you possibly say if some meathead twice your size getting up in your face is funny or intimidating? I will be honest. I don't find that kind of behaviour funny at all. Meh maybe I have a different view as to what constitutes humour? - I am actually quite glad of…
-
@lorrpb How is that funny???
-
That's interesting. I think it is mirrored in the UK
-
I can see how you would naturally start to curb I food intake. It is weird to think how much you eat without thinking about it!!!
-
I took your advice. I have logged today and will carry on this week. It has actually been useful as I rocked up 2,200 calories and 1100 of that was from my dinner...
-
This was interesting. Question: Analysis by paralysis... I know what I need to eat but getting myself to do it is just a pain... to many changes... freak out... fall of band wagon. Do you think a good place to start is just to do better than I did yesterday I know what is a healthy breakfast so start with that... maintain…

No she didn't say this.

I wonder if it is the do not deserve thing. I have organised seeing a therapist through the doctor as I am coming to realise I did not handle the last year as I should have done.
-
Thanks for your reply. You are so right. I just need to get on and do it.
-
Thank you. I was with Slimming World but I just couldn't sustain it so I am looking at calorie counting.
-
I am biologically female, mentally female, sexually female who dates females. If I eat less than I burn off I lose weight. period. (pun!)
-
Ah okay - thanks for the replies. Will leave as is. I only wanted to cut out rows because I felt like I wasn't getting the movement right. PT at the gym corrected form this morning. Thanks again.
-
It's a nice gym. A couple of the PT's are crossfitters and Olympic lifters. Done abit of Facebook stalking and already decided on my PT.
-
Thanks. I Have done some lifting before but want to really get into it.
-
Well I guess my goal is competant 'athlete' Lean, strong, healthy fit body while being skilled at lifting and hopefully swimiming
-
Yes I do. Okay thank you. Should I slowly 'overload' so example 10 chestpresses at 10kg increase to 12.5kg etc

Shoddy equipment. I just don't feel comfortable. Trying to build up discipline of going to the gym in the morning 3x per week at a cheaper less intimidating gym before going to a free weight gym
