Any chocolate bar that says at least 70% cocoa is the good stuff. Most of them say it really big right on the front, you won't have to look at the fine print or the ingredient list or anything. Apparently the cocoa content makes it good for you, but more importantly (for me) is that it is so rich and dark that you just…

I'll see your High Five and raise you a Happy Dance! Yay you! That's excellent! And thanks for the reminder about losing it slowly. Some days I think I really need to kick things up a notch to see some serious results but then I remember that I'm in this for the long haul and being hungry and cranky and pressured does not…

Great job on sticking with it! Most people shouldn't eat under 1200 calories a day but if you are very short, that is an exception so take your height into consideration on that one. As far as for when you'll see changes, that one varies a lot. It depends on how much you have to lose - a 10 pound loss on a 250 pound gal is…

If you go under Tools, there is a Basal Metabolic Rate calculator (BMR) that will tell you approx how many calories it takes to keep you ticking. So if your BMR is 1800 and you eat 1200 calories a day, you have a 600 calorie deficit built in already. Make sense?

You burn calories just to stay alive - walking around, breathing, etc so MFP gives you a calorie amount that is less than what it takes for you just be alive (your deficit). Then even if you don't exercise you're still going to lose weight. If you 'earn' 500 calories from exercise you should generally eat those too so that…

The key to a good marriage is communication and now you have a great list of things to start talking about! Take all of the things on that test and talk about them NOW so you can get on the same page about things that might become a problem further down the road. If you can resolve or at least discuss those things and make…

What have you been eating? Are you staying in a good calorie range? If you've been logging your food, you could open up your diary so we can see what you're eating and make suggestions. Also, is it maybe pms at this weigh-in? I know my first pms weigh-in I was NOT happy but the extra pounds came back off within a few days.…

Oh now there's a goal I'm adding to my list! I'd love to have not just the body, but the confidence to be able to skinny dip! Good luck - rock that bikini babe!

Fill up on salad or veggies along with your meal. When I really enjoy something and want to go back for more, I try to force myself to wait at least 5 minutes (preferably 10) before I go back for another helping because I usually realize that I'm not actually very hungry anymore. And if I still want more just cuz it's…

I joined a running class a couple of months ago but couldn't keep at it because of my knees. I'm doing a 60 km walk for charity this summer and couldn't risk doing any more damage so I just quit running and am sticking with walking, although my knees are still definitely more tender than they used to be. Might try again…

I know, right?!?! I'm down 15 pounds and no one has commented - well no one that doesn't live with me and hear me obsessing about food and calories all day long! My father in law actually asked if my husband had lost weight a couple weeks ago. Yeah, 4 pounds. But ya didn't notice my 13 (at that time)??? I've vowed to hug…

I'd suggest checking in with a doctor & maybe getting some blood tests. A 50 lb. gain over 3 years and now having a hard time losing raises a red flag that maybe something is wonky.

Wow - nice work!

You'll love mfp! It's so nice to have constant reminders and encouragement - it really helps keep us on track and motivate us when we struggle. Welcome! I'm sending you a friend request...

According to what I've read, the fibre recommendations are here are about 2/3 of what we should be getting. Or at least mine is. If I remember correctly they suggest about 25 mg a day. I hear a lot of people asking the same about protein, but I think as long as your not going over your calories or fat, protein is fine too.…

Nuts are healthy but high calorie. Cheese is a great calorie-killer (of course I'm looking at it from the other side - I want more, more, more), maybe with some whole wheat crackers. Peanut butter. Mmmmm, now I'm hungry, darn, that backfired.
