There is a new HR strap by polar the H6 that trasmits straight to your phone. Its $60 worthy investment instead of many other HR that are between 150-300

Yes, but its probably not the best! It will certainly do the trick though. Buy two small sponges and cut a slit through them. Slide the transmitter through the wet sponge and walllah!! I would recommend investing in a heart rate monitor. I love Polar. This way you can assure you are working out at the right intensities. For fat burn you should be at a lower HR intensity. I personally set goals weekly on how long I want to be in each of my intesnity zones and how many calories I want to burn that week…
