I am doing pretty good, how have you been? I found a new home for my treadmill today. I gave it to my brother-in-law. That thing was heavy!

Children can be so very cruel to one another, I guess it is a dog eat dog world at times. Many times a word spoken in jest accompanies us for life, I wish it wasn't so. We need to remember that others cannot, do not, validate who we are, but we ourselves are the only ones who can define this aspect of our lives. Our…

So much great information is being shared here, thank you. I had to look up some of the acronyms and workout descriptions, but I am always happy to learn new things. (I wish there was a thumbs up icon).

Welcome Linda, I think you will find the MyFitnessPal community very supportive, I hope you enjoy your time here. :) I also sent you a link to the Fifty plus (or so) support group which was created because of this thread. The group contains the same motivated group of people, but allows us to create different threads.

I really admire the MFP community, as the level of feedback has been so detailed. It will take me a while to digest all the information. Thank you all. My mind might not be in the right place. My thoughts are that athletes retire because they can't keep up with the younger stronger players. With that in mind, I thought the…

I have to admit that since joining this group I have been more motivated to get healthy. There's been a few days, today for instance, where 101 excuses attempt to derail me, but then I read all of your posts and see what you are up to, some of which include: swimming, hiking, walking, running, bicycling, etc. and it really…

Welcome to the group Elaine, Karen and Rdbartle! Great bunch of folks here, very active and super supportive. This is a great thread, but as Mick pointed out a group was recently started as well. I sent the three of you invites to make it easier to join. More of the good stuff you see here, but broken down into different…

Thanks for the replies everyone. #Frangrann - I will be working out at home, I have a weight machine, dumb bells, elliptical, recumbent bike, bicycle, and pool (4 months). I have a treadmill but it kills my knees, so it will be sold soon. The most recent purchase was the elliptical, but then I read that too much cardio…

Well, it's just a few days shy of being a full year since I my last soda. Looks like it might stick this time. :) Please note that I am not implying that soda is evil, I just choose to consume the calories in a more productive manner.

Standenvernet, you're 3/4 there, you can do it. One thing that helped me was a challenge from my son. If anyone is interested here's a link to that post. A Son's Motivation Fifty plus (or so) support group - Click here to join

Hi Suzy, sounds like you have a couple long days ahead, our thoughts are with you. It is a good sign that you are calm, go into that meeting with confidence. You know they hired the best person for the job and that person is you. I can relate to the cola addiction, I've been off the stuff for almost a year and still get…

But studies have shown that nail polish can improve your golf game, something about less wind resistance. :) Just joking, glad to hear you had a good trip and welcome back.

Hello Irshize, Welcome to MFP. Those last few pounds always seem the toughest. I have to say I will be pretty happy once I get within that range. Look around, make some friends, join a group or two, and it will help with motivation, at least I found that to be true.
