Talkin' 'bout my generation
Today, I noticed that a little more than a third of the people in the gym appeared to be over 50 years old, granted this may have something to do with the time of day, but it still speaks volumes to me that my generation is serious about vitality, longevity, and healthy aging.

Health Innovations You'd Like to See
This may not be very innovative, but I would enjoy watching streaming videos or DVDs, from a first person perspective, of someone walking down the beach, on wooded trails, or through other interesting places. These types of videos would make using the treadmill or elliptical more enjoyable when you cannot get outside. What…

Workout Help For Those Over 50
I've been doing a lot of reading on the Internet to try and find the best workout routine for those over 50. The more I look the more confused I get. Cardio articles say those over 50 need cardio, the weight articles imply that lifting is the way to go, some promote cross training, and I won't even get into the supplement…

Goals - A Key to Motivation?
A MFP user, indirectly, challenged me to think a bit differently about my goals. My goal is to lose fat, but he made me realize that becoming leaner is just one-step to living a healthy and vibrant life. After some thought I broadened my goals to include the following: cardiovascular health, mobility, flexibility, and…

A Son's Motivation
I am a soda fiend, easily drinking 72 oz a day, sometimes more. Three months ago my son, who happens to be physically fit, offered me a friendly wager. His wager, was for me to cut the processed sugars out of my diet. Whoa, slow down son, that's just too much of a change. He smiled sheepishly and countered with, "Okay,…

What Did You Do Today?
Share your daily accomplishments, setbacks, or anything in between. ____________________________________________________________________ I bicycled 15 miles on the Katy Trail and hiked 1.5 miles, up and down on some river bluff trails in Klondike Park. I spoke to a ranger who told me about a trail called "Donkey Kong"…

Standup Desk
I work from home and log 9-11 hours a day sitting in front of a computer. I recently read a report that said sitting for long periods is bad for you. Common sense tells us the same thing, no? Standup Desks are expensive. I tried creating my own, but didn't like the looks of the finished product and it wasn't easy to go…

MFP Acquired by Under Armour
I am not sure if this has been discussed in the past as there isn't a search function within the message section of the site, or if there is I haven't been able to find it. While researching the history of MFP, I found that Under Armour acquired the company on Feb 4, 2015. I look at this as a good thing, as UA is a major…

Self-Confidence
Throughout my life, I often wondered why some people exude confidence while others seem to be destined to be wallflowers. Is the alpha male or female always the most rugged, or the prettiest, person in the room? No, I do not believe this the case. While good looks are a plus, they do not guarantee a charmed life. Many…

Cola Cravings
I haven't drank a soda (Cola) in over three months. But am craving one like crazy today. I had a moderate amount of physical outdoor activity today. I don't want to start drinking soda again, but am wondering if the craving could be caused by low blood sugar or something similar. What do others do when these type of…

Hello, I am new to the MFP app and community. I am looking to get and hopefully provide motivation to lead a healthier, more productive lifestyle. Longevity is also a goal, but sharing live's experiences is what makes the journey worthwhile.
