  • Side note - do you have issues getting the Scivation to mix well? I have the grape and it pisses me off. Not a fan of the flavor, perfer ON Amino better
  • Optimum Nutrition or Gaspari Myofusion - I order from www.bodybuilding.com my favorite is the gaspari - mixes really well (I have a blender ball mixer and usually do it with water) It's a supplement; nothing to do with being a body builder. It fills in the holes that you aren't able too with eating. Do your research, read…
  • Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years) Note: 1 inch = 2.54 cm. 1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs. Now that you know your BMR, you can calculate TDEE by multiplying your BMR by your activity multiplier from the chart below: Activity Multiplier Sedentary = BMR X 1.2 (little or no exercise, desk job)…
  • Try making it a game ... make some different choices; almonds or really any nut. Fresh fruits/vegetables. Have you tried to supplement in a protein shake? You're really doing yourself a disservice by eating so little. It's time to start teaching yourself that making good choices, life long, isn't going to cause you to put…
  • Do you feel guilty because what you're eating isn't the best choice? If you're making good choices eating more then 1200 isn't going to harm you ... if you continue to eat under 1200 constantly you're body is going to go into all types of weird things. As you get closer and closer to goal weight you may need to adjust your…
  • After a few mouth/nose fulls, you'll learn =)
  • If you don't have access to a kickboard you can always kick on your back; try to remain in a streamline position so if you get off course your hands will hit whatever first. Doing the "dolphin kick" on your back would help with some abs - but just general exercise and better eating decisions is where it's at! Remember,…
  • MFP doesn't separate natural sugar from processed - so I tend to ignore it when it goes in the red from fruits. If you're that concerned educate yourself about fruits lower in natural sugar
  • I just saw a video of this and thought it was a super good work out ... and by good I mean painfully miserable. I suggested it to my coach.

  • I would use a cable machine before a regular machine. A machine allows you to go from point a to point b, using their suggested movement. Which isn't your natural movement. They also fail to use any accessory muscles; and we all know that you can't "spot train" specific areas. Again it's just my opinion/preferred method…
  • Have you tried powdered protein either in a blender to make a smoothie or alone with water (or almond milk?) I'm a big fan of Gaspari Myofusion. Depending on your fitness goals, where you started and where you're at now, you may need to start eating a little more protein as well. Eventually you'll plateau and if you're…
  • Focus on movements that don't involve machines - body weight and/or adding dumb bells and such to movements if applicable. Lunges, squats (not using the smith machine), dead lifts, plyometrics (large and small), mountain climbers, etc.
  • I started reading the blog - not sure of the poster's history ... but I can't tell if he hates crossfit or loves it? Or just airs it all out there ... funny though.
  • 12/5/2011 BenchMark "FRAN" 40# and blue band, then blue and red band 6:39. First time ever meeting up with Fran ... there will be a 2nd date

  • Doesn't even sound fun, especially since I'd be doing singles - but that seems like a great time that you got

  • I've never visited others - but have thought about it. I'll be in Hawaii on vacation and there may be a day or so when I'm on my own for something to do. I assume you can contact them and pay a 'drop in' fee? Any thoughts?
  • Exerpt from 'Nerd Fitness' Machines are the devil and can do more damage in the long run. Here’s why: When you use a weight machine instead of free weights, your stabilizer muscles have nothing to do. All of the work that they SHOULD be doing is being done by the weight machine! This means that as you get stronger and…
  • Totally agree with that quote - and I always refer to my box members as 'people I workout with/crossfit with'. I've only been there a solid 2 months so I'm still kinda shy - but those that I started with I consider my friends. Even when I went to the hopper, I found it easy to strike up conversations and everyone was so…
  • I try to do mostly compound movements and mix between free weights and body movement exercises. Rarely do I use an actual machine. The routine you listed looks like the basic standard - try to incorporate some supersets into there too!
  • Fitness magazines and probably even their websites ... www.bodybuilding.com ... youtube .... netflix ... your own planning.
  • If you're 100% sure you want to try check out NerdFitness ... there's some info on there and an 80 page ebook on the authors personal trial/error with it and information. Do all your research ... IMO just a great lifting and cardio routine with clean eating will be sufficient enough for the average person.

  • I laughed ... not going to lie. Push Jerk she should've been able to master; maybe not the SDLHP but everything else she should've killed.
  • My suggestion would be to use a little bit lighter weight until you feel comfortable with the form; working out in front of a mirror is useful just don't forget to train the muscles you don't see in a mirror. When you complete a set, whatever number that may be, using 6 for an example, you want to make sure those last 2…
  • Also don't calibrate it on a treadmill - best place is a track that already has a pre-determined distance. I love using mine ... just remember it's a tool and not 100% accurate. Using the website is fun too since you can join challenges and what not.
  • My other struggle is getting the rope to spin fast enough in my double unders - I don't have them, but I can successfully do singles. I practice at least 3 times a week for 10-15 minutes ... I mostly just whipped myself and get pissed off.
  • CrossFit 717 in Lemoyne, PA. No claim to fame yet but it may be coming ... hopefully some day it may be me!
  • I agree with everyone else! This looks freaking killer - maybe I'll sub an open gym for this WOD.

  • Yeah that's not happening ... I'd be more worried about being orange then gaining weight.
