  • ^Seriously? No. Muscle burns more calories than fat, 1 pound is 1 pound. The mass of 1 pound can be greater or less, depending what you are weighing, but it is still a pound. And, the OP is definitely not going to be gaining weight exercising that much and eating 1200 calories per day.
  • If you are losing, have lost, and/or are, maintaining weight loss, however you arrived where you are, it works for you and that is the important thing. As in all things related to weight loss, and keeping the weight off, whatever works for you is what counts. There is no wrong or right way, as long as you are getting the…
  • Philadelphia cream cheese has pumpkin spice. I just got some last week, and some Thomas's pumpkin spice bagels. I also got an email from Brueggers today that everything pumpkin spice is available there now. Coffee, bagels and cream cheese.
  • Fit bit gives the total calories burned for the 24 hour period. When I wake up in the morning, it shows calories burned while I was sleeping. Mine is currently @ 1658 burned. It is 12:20 pm here now. I spent 73 minutes on the elliptical at the gym this morning and the rest of the burn is from just being alive, with little…
  • Run whenever you want. Whenever it is convenient for you. It all counts.
  • Bought one early on. Used it twice. For me, not worth the bother. I use this chart: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/f9/d9/96/f9d9968e354d39de9feade7557d750d7.jpg Works very well for me. Lost over 160#, and have kept it off for almost 3 years. Whatever works for you and will be sustainable for the long term.
  • No. Eat them if you like them. They are good for you. All food in moderation.
  • Same for me. I began walking more after -100 pounds. Lost total of over 160# in 20 months and have kept it off for almost 3 years. Not surprisingly, at my heaviest weight, my knees were bothering me a lot. After losing 100# my knees were much improved. Now I go to the gym everyday and walk at least a couple of miles. I…
  • ^ bought some last year, & I have to agree. They wouldn't even eat them at work, and they eat anything. ...............but gotta try everything, right? ;)
  • Everything has calories (except water). If you don't count everything, and you are having problems losing weight, this could be why. ^ Slight exaggeration, but there are those of us that DO keep track of everything, and just saying, I had no issues in the 20 months of losing over 1/2 of my current body weight. I lost…
  • There are tons of things you can prep in advance and freeze in individual portions for the week. Pinterest has lots of ideas. You control what goes into them. Steel cut oats. Eggs you bake in muffin tins. You can do an egg in a mug, I had one this morning with a chopped up piece of Canadian bacon, chopped bell peppers,…
  • OMG that is good! Thankfully the Barnes and Noble (they have Cheesecake Factory cheesecake in their little restaurant here) across the street from work closed, so I would have to drive a long way to get some. They have the CoffeeMate peppermint mocha coffee creamer here year round now. It's my daughter favorite.
  • Love my fitbit too. I have a Charge HR, but started out with fitbit One, then got a Force ( they no longer make this model). I have had one for 3-1/2 years. Motivates me to move more, so all good for me. To lose weight you need a calorie deficit. Eat less calories than you burn.
  • Haven't seen them, but I love Kind bars, so I will be looking for them. Special K has their crisps in pumpkin spice. I got some last week and they are pretty good. Two crisps for 100 calories. I nuked them for 10 seconds.
  • I eat bread and fruit everyday. Just work it into your calories. There is no reason not to eat all things in moderation. I have lost a lot of weight, and been maintaining for almost 3 years eating anything I want to, but keeping within my calorie budget.
  • Ok. Are you saying we all should be denied because of a few who can not control themselves? Because I do not agree. There are alcoholics that are able to stay sober and not drink alcohol. The people that can not abstain, need to have medical help in doing so.
  • Right, I did not think of this "cause & effect", but would have to guess that the majority of adults indulging would not commit domestic abuse while under the influence, and all should not be denied because of a low percent who do. I still think it is a personal, adult decision, whether or not we drink alcoholic beverages,…
  • Personal opinion, I can definitely live without alcohol, and rarely use it, spend my calories on foods I enjoy. Unlike cigarettes, alcohol does not physically affect other people, and it is personal choice whether or not you choose to use it. The one thing I strenuously object to is drinking alcohol and driving a vehicle.…
  • I have to log as well. I am good at judging portion sizes, so I don't weigh or measure my food, but logging keeps me aware of how much I am eating. This is the way it has to be for me. I know myself, and I would end overeating and gaining back all the weight I lost. That's not gonna happen. I could easily eat 3-4 times…
  • Everyone is different. I started MFP @ 60. I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight in 20 months and have kept the weight off for almost 3 years. I totally bought into the losing weight over 40 and menopause myths of how hard it is too lose weight, consequently, I did not make much of an effort to lose. My thoughts were,…
  • Everyone is different. Whatever will work long term for each of us is the way to go, IMHO. I have lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for almost 3 years, eating all foods in moderation, nothing off limits. This is the best way for me to keep this sustainable. No one would define my diet as "clean"…
  • When I began MFP, I was shocked by a lot of things. Reading labels is routine now. I have gone by calorie content from the beginning (I had a lot to lose, over 1/2 of my current body weight and calorie content was my main concern). I have been at this for a long time now, 4-1/2 years on MFP, almost 3 on maintenance. I eat…
  • Eat high calorie foods like, nuts and nut butters, avocado, greek yogurt. Anything you like really. The calories add up very quickly. It really isn't hard for most people to eat enough calories. Many of us have the opposite problem.
  • I am kind of shocked by this thread. My hair is very curly, short and I wash it every day. I have always washed it every day, and I will be 65 next week. Too late to worry about over washing. My hair is not dry at all. I have to have it cut every 5-6 weeks and I always get comments from the hairdressers, on how nice my…
  • It is harder for me. While losing, I had the actual weight loss, and all the comments to inspire me, and keep me going. Now I just have to keep telling myself that I can never go back to where I was. Maybe so, but the statistics for all people that lose weight are that over 80% of the people gain all of the weight back,…
  • 6 pounds in 19 days is quite a bit to gain. Have you eaten high sodium foods during this time? Where are you in your menstrual cycle? This may be at least part of the issue.
  • There is one thing I have learned while losing and maintaining my weight loss, it is that everyone has to find their own way. NOTHING is easy, if it were, we would all be "normal" weight. The statistics say that 80% (some say even higher percent) of people who lose the weight, gain it back (some gain even more than they…
  • You can do this. I started @ age 60. I lost over 160# in 20 months, and have kept it off for almost 3 years now. I am not retired yet, but am planning on retiring 12/31/16. I will be 65 at the end of September. Looking forward to a healthier, less stressful retirement. Best of luck to you.
