^I believe this to be true for me as well. I am an non believer in "set point" also. Overeating and not moving got me to where I was pre-MFP. My bad habits are the reason I will have to monitor myself for life, in order for me to keep maintaining @ my present weight (I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have been…

30 months maintaining. I hear you about the weighing, measuring and monitoring, but for me, it is really the only way I am going to keep from going back to my bad habits. I have not allowed myself to gain more than 5 pounds during the past 30 months. Actually, the most I have gone up is 4 pounds during this time. I cut…

I have had a fitbit for over 3 years. First a One, then a Force (discontinued), now a Charge HR. Love it! It is perfect for me, as most of my activity is step based. Single best motivator I have to get me to move more. I went from struggling to get 10,000/day to getting over 20,000/day, so it works for me. I am trying to…

Whatever works for each of us. All things in moderation for me. Worked taking the weight off, and has worked for 30 months on maintenance. As bellabonbons says, carbs are essential. We need them.

Not a recipe for disaster for a lot of us. I have been cooking since I was about 12, using American standards for measuring. You get to know by sight how much a cup, TBSP, tsp actually is. A serving of meat is the approximate size of a deck of cards. A little bit over or under, no biggie. Some of us do not live that close…

Weight loss is eating less calories than you burn. 80% calories consumed, 20% exercise. Are you eating at a calorie deficit? Weighing, measuring and logging every, single thing that you eat and drink? If so give it more time. Two weeks is not long enough.
-
Another why would you do this?

My first thought too, LOL

Of course there is a point to wearing a fitbit. Your fitbit records total active minutes. For example, after I use the elliptical for 65 minutes my fitbit records 65 active minutes. Normal walking (like to the bathroom or water fountain) just count as steps, not active steps. I consciously strive to get more steps every…

Work in an office too. Very long hours. 45 minute commute one way. I get up very early and go to the gym everyday. I have 10,000 steps on my fitbit before I get to the office. Park as far from the door as I can. Take the long way around when I get up from my desk, walk up and down the stairs every time I leave my desk. I…

For breakfasts, we love the omelets in a bag. Use zip loc freezer bags. crack 2 eggs into the bag. Seal and mix well. Open bag and add diced veggies, ham, cheese, bacon, whatever you love in your omelet. Squeeze out all the air you can and seal. You can do quite a few at a time. Place in boiling water and cook for about…

Yes, I have been around a while and have seen all the "I'm not losing" threads, I am not unsympathetic, but reading labels should be a high priority for serious people looking to lose weight. Serving sizes are pretty small on packaging labels and for general purposes gives a good idea of portion sizes. These are…

^Exactly this. Figure it out, it is not rocket science and it can be done. Many are doing it and have done it and been very successful. If an entry looks like it is wrong, look for another. Many sites are terrible for this. I choose MFP because it is the best, IMO. Anyone know of one any better, let me know.
-
Maybe superior, but I managed to lose over 160 pounds, and have kept it off for over 2-1/2 years with this antiquated system. There are verified entries that you can use and also you can put in your own entries that are 100% accurate and to your liking, if you can't manage with the system being so inaccurate and…

Grams is best for some, not me. I have had no problems with this site and losing weight using pounds, ounces, cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, and I imagine there are a lot of us here. Why not both units of measurement?
-
No, bam the weight came back on for you because you, and 80% of the people that lose weight, go back to old habits of eating. Eating more calories than you are burning makes you gain weight, not how quickly you lost before.
-
No, I did not lose my hair, or anything else. The only thing I lost was excess weight. As I stated I was seeing my doctor every 3 months, and I totally recommend that everyone should have their health care professional involved in the process. I stuck with my plan, stayed in my calorie goal (1200), logged everything I ate…

I lost 40 pounds in 8 weeks. 100 pounds by 6-1/2 months, 140 pounds by 1 year, and got to goal @ -160 pounds at 20 months. I have been maintaining around 130-133 for over 2-1/2 years now. I have been on MFP for over 4 years now, and I have had quarterly check ups with my doctor during the first 2 years and yearly since…

Me too. I eat it plain all the time, but sometimes I mix in whipped cream cheese with chives. I hated canned salmon growing up, and can not stomach any salmon even today. I have tried to like it, but no matter how it is prepared I can't eat it, and there are too many delicious foods to eat to waste calories on something…

As with most numbers, they cover a broad spectrum of people and are very general. They are high. I get different number from MFP, my fitbit, and the machine I am on. I never eat back all of my exercise calories. Usually 1/2 or less.
-
I don't know about anyone but myself, eating too much of everything made me morbidly obese. Too many calories in, not nearly enough calories out. Eating all things in moderation brought me to a "normal" weight for the first time in my adult life, and has kept me there for over 2-1/2 years. I don't really understand the…

I have a 24 oz cup everyday. If you want it, drink it. Not a problem.

Eat less calories than you burn to lose weight. Unless you do that you will not lose weight. CI vs CO Calorie deficit=weight loss.
-
Weight loss is mostly eating less calories than you burn. (80% calories eaten, 20% exercise). You can exercise and still gain weight if you eat more calories than you burn. Personal preference when you eat. I go to the gym very early in the a.m., and never eat until after.
-
Personal preference. I go to the gym very early. Never eat before I go. It makes me feel sluggish when I am exercising. I just bring a water bottle along. I also eat after I arrive at work at my desk.

Carrots, celery, radishes, cabbage, apples, oranges etc all stay fresh for a very long time when refrigerated. Buy dried beans, rice and lentils, inexpensive and make a lot. Frozen fruit and vegetables are a good choice as well. I have been at this for over 4 years and have found I save quite a bit of money now on food.…
