  • Are you sticking by your gf? Kudos to you for doing so! Introduce her to MFP and show her the success stories. Trying everything, and sticking with anything are two different things. Therein lies the problem for many of us. To me lazy is not the correct term. I do not now, nor have I ever, considered myself lazy. However,…
  • For the first two months, I didn't eat any sweets. Got me in the habit of not indulging in it. I taught myself moderation and portion control, and has worked for almost 4 years now.
  • In case some here forget, losing weight is mostly about eating less calories than you burn. It is not necessary to exercise to lose weight. It is necessary to eat less calorie than you are burning to lose weight. Prejudice, plain and simple. Shame on anyone who was once overweight condemning others as being lazy. Speak for…
  • Simple answer. Same as any prejudice, it is wrong, unfair and ignorant.
  • You need to find another way of cooking chicken breasts. Go to Penzeys and find some spices. Crock pot with Buffalo wing sauce or another sauce. There are thousands of ways to season it and make it edible and delicious.
  • Great! Thanks for posting. I am always kind of skeptical in the back of my mind when I hear about the newest "super food". I guess we all know, all things in moderation, portion control and move more, is the bottom line. Really good read!
  • It is totally about CICO. How you get there is personal choice, but no matter what kind of diet, or what it is called, in order to lose weight you need to consume less calories than you are burning. You may be eating "special" food, or eliminating certain food groups, but it comes down to eating less calories than you are…
  • Mayo clinic says all fluids count toward your daily total. Total fluids needed varies by many factors, gender, activity level, climate etc.
  • Like most are saying, fit it in to you calories. We have opted for healthier eating and now are choosing veggie pizza. Load it up with our favorite veggies and honestly do not miss the meat. Papa Murphy's delite with veggies and light on the cheese. Personal choice, but go for everything and fit it in. This is something…
  • Most of the Krispy Kremes have closed here, with good reason, as they are way over rated. Long lines when the first stores opened, now I don't know if there are any stores still open here. The very best donuts I have ever had are Old Fashioned donuts from the local bakery, just plain. I don't care for anything on them,…
  • MFP is free and it is way easier than counting points. Win/win. Lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for 2-1/2 years. Kind of a no brainer for me.
  • I have had one for over 3 years. Love it. Perfect for me as all of my exercise is step based (I hike, walk and use the elliptical and treadmill mainly). I never pay attention to calories burned as it is not important at all to me. Very motivational to get me to move more, so it has made me obsessive in that regard. I…
  • Turkey or pork tenderloins.
  • Cheesecake Factory's pumpkin spice cheesecake. I live for the fall.
  • I have had a fitbit for over 3 years now. The single biggest benefit is that it motivates me to move more. Started out struggling to get 10k per day and I get over 20K everyday now. I don't really care about calories burned as I never eat back all of my calories, I love to see the steps add up everyday.
  • Too much of anything is extreme. Fact is, your body needs sugar and it occurs naturally in a lot of food. All things in moderation, portion control and balance will work for most people.
  • Love your avatar quote.
  • Is there no common sense in the world anymore. 20 apples would bring many of us close to, if not over our calorie limit for the day. Use the recommend servings per day and you will be just fine for people with no issues with sugar re: their health. Sheesh
  • Not embarrassed to admit it on MFP, but I have never told anyone else the exact amount I have lost. It is embarrassing to admit I let myself get to the weight I was (290), but I am eager to tell anyone that asks that I have been maintaining at 130 (give or take a few pounds, mostly take) for 30 months.
  • I like the taste of it. Lower calories. I would rather get my protein from something I can chew, higher satisfaction. 30 calories per cup for unsweetened almond milk vs 90 calories for 1 cup skim milk
  • All sugar. A lot of people, including myself, just track something else. No need to track unless you have a medical condition limiting sugar.
  • Nope, don't want to see it. No before pictures at all. The thought of how I was, and never wanting to go back, is all the motivation I need to keep tracking. I do have one pair of size 24W jeans that I kept though and every once in a while I pull them out and try them on. Size 8 now, and I like it much better.
  • ^Sorry you are wrong about this. OP, you can not expect to lose the same amount, or even any, weight every week. A lot of different factors may enter into weight loss. Sodium consumed, time of the month, inaccurate calculating of actual calories etc. Keep going, it will happen. I weighed food a couple of times, but mostly…
  • I always get Fajitas, no tortilla.
  • Everything is processed, unless you are eating straight from the garden without washing off the fruit or vegetable.
  • #1 A poached egg, slice of Canadian bacon on a toasted light English muffin topped with chia seeds. #2 Greek yogurt, with a tsp of each mixed in, chia seed, ground flax seed, unsweetened coconut.
  • You can buy them direct from Quest. GNC sells them by the box or single. Amazon sells them also. I have tried quite a few flavors, but I only like the white chocolate raspberry.
  • There are quite a few post here about this article. I read the whole article. One question I have is were the contestants of BL keeping track of CICO after the show ended. It did not say in the article. That is pretty important to know. If they went back to eating more calories than they were burning, they would gain. For…
