  • What is your point, you can beat a 40 year old fat lady that is unhealthy by your definition?
  • So you are telling me that every person that is overweight or underweight is unhealthy? And, your "literally millions of studies" have concluded this?
  • Yes, it is definitely a real question
  • Seriously? It may be logical for you, but it is not for me. How do you know that they are obviously unhealthy? The human race still has a long way to go.............
  • I get up very early and go to the gym before I go to work. I work full time M-F 10+ hours per day and a lot of Saturdays from April through November. 45 minute commute one way. I know I will not go to the gym after work, no other choice.
  • [ ^^This. Doesn't matter if the customer using the cart was disabled or not. The other customer was an a** hole and had no business commenting. Kudos for Midwesterner85 speaking up.
  • My question to those who say people should take responsibility for themselves, is, "what business is it of yours?" Why does it matter to you what someone else does or doesn't do? How does it concern you? Like others have said above, "mind your own business". Kind of ironic that this is a web site mostly about getting…
  • I use the elliptical and do intervals on it for 65 minutes (60 minute workout 5 minute cool down) I enter in my weight and age on the machine and strive to get at least 500 calories burned (sometimes I am really pushing for the last 20 minutes or so to get to 500 calories burned).
  • Whether or not you decide for or against the surgery, you will have to change your eating habits. A lot of people here have lost a lot of weight without the surgery, myself included. I lost over 160 pounds and have kept it off for over 2 years. Maintenance is definitely harder for me, but I have learned a lot along the way…
  • Fat Shaming-- It is a prejudice, same as any other prejudice. It shows ignorance and intolerance, same as any prejudice. It is wrong, same as any other prejudice.
  • I guess what concerns me most about this post is your cartilage in your knee wearing out at age 23. Perhaps it is your doc's main concern. If you are not losing eating 1300-1400 calories per day plus working out 2-3 hours something is not right. That may be why he is telling you to lower your calories to 1000 and no zumba.…
  • If it fits into your calories, go for it. Nothing wrong with hot chocolate.
  • Common sense. All things in moderation and portion control, staying within your daily calorie allotment. Limiting or eliminating, processed foods (which can have added sodium and sugars), sugary drinks, (pop & juice), candy, pastries may be beneficial, for some people. Other sources of sugar, fruit, vegetables, dairy,…
  • You are very young to be having the knee problems. Trust me, it will not get better the older you get. I would suggest a second opinion by a specialist. You do not want to do anything that will make it worse on your knees. The calories that your doctor is suggesting are very low and may be unnecessary. Are you weighing,…
  • Awesome, we have one a block away from work, walking distance. It is always packed for these events though so will have to go early! Thanks!
  • Think of diet as the foods you eat and drink, because that is exactly what it is. It is the quantity that can be depressing, but the end results are worth the effort.
  • Weight loss is 80% eating at calorie deficit. I lost over 100 pounds (no exercise) before I even began to walk more. Keep eating @ your calorie allotment, you don't need to eat less.
  • I go to the gym everyday too. Never have really gotten to like it though, but I am glad to get it out of the way for the day (I go very early before work). It really is hard to get over being picked on as a child. It truly does something to self esteem. All you can do is know what you are accomplishing now. It is awesome,…
  • Been here over 4 years. There have been a few unwarranted messages. Just block the culprits, and avoid the "chit/chat" threads. I would guess that 99% of the people here are pretty awesome, ignore/delete/block the rest.
  • ^^This+1 Nothing guarantees happiness. You are at a healthier weight now, that is a big accomplishment. Maybe try to work on building your confidence. You are worth it!
  • All things in moderation, within your calorie allotment. Your brain needs carbs to function properly. If you have no medical reason to limit natural sugars change over to a different nutrient to track.
  • They are so good baked with an egg in the middle for breakfast! Fit them into your daily calories and eat them as often as you like!
  • Congratulations! That is an amazing accomplishment. Have fun on your trips. Enjoy every moment!
  • Oh yeah! Ever try Nutella & Fluff spread on Pillsbury crescent roll dough, rolled up, then baked...........OMG...........delicious!
  • The calories burn is a general number whether you are M or F, age, weight, intensity, pace, etc. All are factors in calories burned. Whether or not you eat all, part, or none of the calories back is up to each person.
  • ^This, and do not worry about being mean and calling the police. It is unfair to pedestrians, joggers, walkers, bikers, and the unleashed dogs. You should not have to be concerned about your safety. Irresponsible pet owners deserve to be turned in. It is not the animals fault. Here in Minnesota, they have pet parks where…
  • It is all about being healthier. Any added movement is good for your body and health. I lost 100 pounds before I began to even take short walks. Now I go to the gym every day and get 20,000 steps/day. Why just lose the weight when you can become stronger, healthier, and slimmer! You are doing awesome, keep it up! You will…
  • All things in moderation and adherence to portion sizes, with at least a daily piece of chocolate. :p Sustainable for lifetime hopefully.
  • My husband has bad cholesterol. He is 6' 170 pounds and in good physical condition. Works out 6 days/week. His father had high cholesterol and 2 of his dad's brothers. My husband has been on Lipitor for 10 years. His doctor told him hereditary bad cholesterol is just something he has to live with, diet and exercise help,…
