Cut back a little, and/or fit it into your calories. The 1/2 wine 1/2 sparkling water is an option too.

I have been on MFP for 4 years. I am 64 now. I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have been on maintenance for over 2 years. It wasn't harder to lose the weight, but maintenance is a struggle, as I do think that some older people (myself) just need less calories than younger people, at least that is true for me. I…

We went through this last week, and no, it is not cheating, according to Fit Bit. Of course I am highly skeptical of people on fit bits site that have over 7,000,000 steps for the month of April so far. Kind of impossible IMHO

Water.

OP, perhaps for some people, points made in the article may be valid, but for the vast majority of people, eating less calories than you burn results in weight loss, no matter how you arrive at the deficit, or what weight loss diet you follow, or what you eat. A calorie is a calorie. Many people have "trigger" foods that…

As with most things related to weight loss and maintaining a normal weight, find what works for you and stick with it. You know yourself better than anyone else. I am sure that not one is intentionally trying to mislead anyone. There are a lot of different factors that go into being successful at weight loss. Use all of…

^lol, just the thought of this brings tears to my eyes.

Strawberries, watermelon and anything from the farmers market.

Skip the Brussel sprouts and keep the bacon. Bacon is worth every calorie!

Agree. The worst thing I ever tasted. Yuk! Tried it once, hated it. Not worth wasting calories on, even though it is low in calories.

I have never had savory oatmeal, but the poached egg sounds really good. I always have steel cut oats. I saute the oats in a little coconut oil. I am going to try this tomorrow. I think I will saute the oats with some onion. Then cook it with liquid. Add some cooked bacon and top with a poached egg.

Are you a coffee(caffeine) drinker that cut back or quit? That can cause headaches.
-
Then do you take it off when you are not walking?
-
JW, assuming that you are correct, what is the point of having a fitbit or any other tracking device. For me, it is motivating me to move more, which it has truly accomplished. BTW I have posed this question on one of the group forums that I am on. I will report back the findings.

Wow, I will have to go back to the fit bit site and see where it says "steps only" on the challenges. I am in one now that ends today.

Today I had roasted turkey breast on a fold it with Dijon mustard and sprouts. My favorite for lunch. Breakfast is poached egg on English muffin with Canadian bacon.

Not at all dishonest. Absolutely they should allow the steps for pedaling. Unless everyone in the challenge stipulates, and agrees to steps only from walking, or any other activity, anything is fair game. It never even occurred to me that only certain steps would qualify. I have had a fit bit for over 3 years and have…

Our busy season at work starts mid-April to the end of November. I work very long hours. Have a 45 minute commute one way. I get up very early and go to the gym before work. Every day, no excuses for being too tired after work. Park as far as possible from the door. Walk around the office the long way every time I get up…

People, you can not have it both ways. Obesity in children has increased quite a bit. It may be going down slightly now, but it is still a huge problem. You have a father here that his concerned about his pre-teen daughter developing a weight problem. She is overeating, even healthier choices. I give him kudos for…

I never was much of a drinker, and 4 years on MFP I have had a few Bailey's and maybe 4 glasses of wine on holidays. I get much more satisfaction chewing my calories, and basically, just drink water and black coffee in the morning. If it fits into you calories, go for it. Nothing wrong with having an adult beverage if you…

She is on the threshold of one of the hardest ages to be for girls (maybe boys too, but I am one of 7 sisters, no brothers, and my only child is a girl) As her parents, you have to make guidelines, but there is a very fine line here. Resentment could become an issue. Show her by example and try doing physical things…

I buy raw walnuts and almonds at Sams by the 3 pound bag full. My husband eats them like popcorn (he has no weight issues), but I limit my intake to 1/4 cup serving size, or count out the whole almonds.................sigh...............life is not fair, I could eat them like popcorn too, but I would gain back all the…

The American Heart Association has a web site you may want to check out. Loaded with a lot of useful information.

^^ Exactly. I do this everyday, both at home and at work. Three levels at home, 1, at work. I have 30 staircases on my fit bit right now. Also, I live in the country on 10 acres of rolling wooded hills. I get credit for 23 staircases for a 45 minute walk in our woods.

You must be a good chef and enjoy your own cooking. Use this to your advantage and cook and discover ways to make your meals healthier. You can absolutely get this under control! It is within your grasp and not a seemingly insurmountable amount of weight to lose and get back to where you are more comfortable. You are a…

I lost 100# in 7 months without taking anything, no surgery, just limiting calories and logging everything I ate and drank on MFP. Perhaps your doctor has some stock or personal interest in the company that manufactures them. There really is no magic pill. I would personally find a different doctor.

Keep track of my calories and weight. Prepare and eat as much of my food as possible, very little restaurant or take out, but all foods in moderation. Pretty much the same as when I was losing except I get to eat a little more. Go to gym every day.
-
^This. Truth. Eat less calories than you burn to lose weight, and all foods in moderation for a sustainable, long term, success at maintaining a healthy weight when you reach your goal.

For most people with no existing medical issues, to lose weight all you need is to consume less calories than you burn. I hate running too. I lost over 100# through diet alone before I began to even walk more. Anything that you can do, and like doing, will be beneficial to your health. I found that I really like…
