Congratulations! That is an amazing accomplishment! Please post your story, it will be inspirational for so many people.

But I am restricting my calories @ maintenance. I don't eat like I did pre-MFP, not anywhere near it. Just so you realize, some of us do not have to eat too far over maintenance to gain weight. And yes, I am restricting my calories. I do not have cheat days. I eat at or below my maintenance calories. I am only eating about…
-
Yes. If you are totally honest and log everything you eat and drink. Weigh and measure your food. Estimating does not work for a lot of people, myself included.
-
If you addressing me about the "Why would you need a "cheat day" when you're at maintenance?" It is because I can not, nor can anyone on maintenance, at least that I know about, eat above maintenance calories, without regaining weight. No diet break. Diet, by definition, is the kind of foods that a person habitually eats.…

No cheat days. It would just be cheating myself, and what is the point of that. All things in moderation and work it into my calories for the day. It has been working for almost 4 years for me, while losing and on maintenance.

Choices. They are ours to make for ourselves. No one can say what is healthy or unhealthy for anyone else. Individually, we can decide for ourselves, and really, it is no one else's business what we choose to eat. Everyone has the same information at their finger tips, and we are all adults. What I have learned here, in…

I live in Minnesota. I walk year round outside. The coldest it has been when I walked outside was -30F with a wind chill factor near -60. Sorel boots, layered clothing and keep moving. It really isn't that bad when you dress for it. In fact, I actually prefer walking in the cold over the hot, humid weather of summer.

It is ridiculous. It is not perfect, but does a great job, at least for me. It is the best motivator I have to get me to move more, and that is all good.
-
Ditto both, they even sell grated with both in the same package

I go very early (3am M-F, 5am S-S), there are more people than usual (which really isn't many at these times anyway) 4-5 besides me, usually 1 or 2 besides me. Pretty much have my pick of anything always, and I like it like that. Plus I have my exercising out of the way very early.

Air popped popcorn. I like it with Buffalo Wing Sauce sprinkled on it, or grated parmesan cheese.

That is fantastic! Best of luck to you! I have been a fitbit user for almost 3 years now. A Fitbit One, a Fitbit Force, and now a Fitbit Charge HR(which I absolutely love). I used the One and the Force simultaneously for about 2 months, they were both different on step counts, and the machine (I use the elliptical and…

I started MFP 3/12/12, 60 years old at the time, 290#. Lost over 160# by 11/7/13, at maintenance since then @ around 130#, give or take a few pounds. I read things for years about the difficulty of losing weight over 40, and bought in to it for years, and never really tried to lose, just kept adding on the pounds. I was…

You can lose weight without exercise. Eat less calories than you burn. One of my favorite quotes is "you can't exercise enough to overcome a poor diet. Diet comes first". I can imagine how hard it is with children. I don't think I could have done it when my daughter was growing up and I only had one child. Whatever you can…

You can choose what will show up on your food diary. I disregard sugar and don't have it as am item that I am concerned with on my diary.
-
I get this totally. I am not diabetic, so no real concern about too much sugar, other than the excess calories, but excess calories is an issue for me in any form. Instead of demonizing any one food in particular, emphasis should be placed on our over indulging in too much of any food, and to not consume more calories than…

Nope. May have a placebo affect for some people. Eat less calories than you burn=weight loss. There are no quick fixes or magic pills. Kind of a waste of money.

I love this! Thank you! The media (I refuse to call most of them journalists) deserve a lot of criticism about a lot of things. Maybe the media is the devil ;)
-
Maybe go back and read the OP's original post. In the theme of Buddha, it may enlighten you before you post a comment.
-
NO, just NO. You need sugar. Moderation in all things. Overindulging in any food can be bad for you. In all fairness, cutting out, or at the very least cutting back, on sugary drinks, and that includes juice, is probably not a bad idea, but trying to cut out all sugar, is a bad idea, and not possible or even healthy.
-
Why can't you work it into your normal diet, and what do you mean it isn't healthy? What qualifies as healthy to you? I have pizza once a week. I just choose moderation and work it into my calorie budget, as I do all of my food, and personally choose veggie toppings, but that is personal choice, as I have come to prefer…
-
Everyone is different of course, but I started getting comments @ -40 pounds, but I had a lot to lose. That was at 8 weeks.
-
++++^ This is how I am managing maintenance as well. Who is to say what is healthier for someone else. There are no guarantees in life. Just because you eat what you think is healthy, does not mean you will be exempt from gaining weight back or getting some disease that could jeopardize your life. Moderation, portion…

^^^Sounds wonderful..............perhaps a little cinnamon also...........yum

It is hard for some, easier for some. We all are different, and as with losing, we have to each find what will work for each of us. I think for me, it may be a little easier, because, with the exception of the first couple of months of losing, I have pretty much eaten what I like, within my calorie allotment. No transition…

I agree, I don't care much for the chocolate, but I have to use it up before I can go back to the regular PB2. I love it on a toasted, light English muffin, with sliced banana on top. Also Jif has a powdered peanut butter now too, but I have not tried it.

^^The cause of weight loss is eating less calories than you burn, not drinking water with lemon, lime or anything else in it. Perhaps you are feeling less hungry after drinking water, and eat less. A common tip for eating less at a meal, drink a cup of water before you eat and you may feel less hungry and eat less.
-
Yes. Everything that I eat and drink. It all has calories (except water), and they add up.
-
Eat less calories than you burn to lose weight. Your choice on what you want to eat.

Two years & two months. Key for me, logging, moving more, and watching my weight, same as losing the weight. Others don't need to keep logging, I do, and will, probably always will. As with the losing, better choices, portion size, and moderation. Don't eat more calories than I burn.
