You are amazing! Congratulations on your spectacular accomplishments! You will be an inspiration to many people! Well done!

Your post indicated access to public transportation, fast food, and corner stores available. All of which are not available in rural areas and most small towns. I am truly sorry you have such a difficult life, and I do realize that many people do. This post is about eating healthy, and for people living in areas that have…

Of course not! I started over countless times over the decades. Finally got serious about doing this when MFP was recommended to me. I was 60 at the time (3-12-12). I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for almost 3 years now. It is never too late! You can do this!

Go for it! Guidelines are just that. We are all individuals and need to find what will work for each of us. I lost the first 100# in 7 months, the last 60 in 13 months, and have been maintaining my loss for 34 months and counting. I have done this with my dr's blessing and supervision for the entire time. I will be 65 at…

Minimum for no/low calorie beverages. Black coffee, and water. I get way more satisfaction out of chewing my calories. An occassional glass of wine on holidays, the last time was Thanksgiving 2015. I have been doing this for 4-1/2 years (almost 3 on maintenance). This works best for me. If you want it, have it, and allow…

Food is more expensive at the corner stores, and not much fresh food available. So it is not an option if you are trying to eat better, less expensively. Plan your shopping expeditions for days you don't have to work, and prep and prepare for the coming week Feeding a family of 4 even off the dollar menu, adds up very…

I make these with just the spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin. I add a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to the cake mix before mixing in the pumpkin, it makes it a little spicier. They turn out great without the apple sauce and are still very moist. I don't use walnuts either, but you could use any type of nuts or raisins. I…

I have been at this for over 4 years. Very seldom eat out, and have saved a lot of money. I cook meals from scratch in large quantities and freeze in single serving containers for future meals. Prep and package fruit and veggies on the weekend too, enough to last for the coming week. It takes planning and time for prep,…

I have had a fitbit for 3-1/2 years. I love mine! It is a fantastic tool for getting me to move more. My activity is step based so it is really perfect for me. I don't think it has helped with weight loss, but it sure helps me to keep it off. I have been on maintenance for almost 3 years.

A lot of sodium in them, but so do the frozen, boneless, skinless breasts. I use them sometimes for quick salads, but like MsAmandaNJ says, they have a kind of weird texture.
-
No. Unless you are tracking calories in vs: calories out and "eating as much as you want" amounts to eating less calories than you burn. This is how you lose weight, by eating less calories than you burn.
-
Do what works for you and is sustainable for you. For me, all foods in moderation and stay within my calorie allotment. Works so far. Lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for almost 3 years.

An amazing, inspirational accomplishment! Congratulations on all of your success!

My key to success, losing over 1/2 of my current body weight and keeping it off for almost 3 years: Losing the weight: eat less calories than I burned Keeping it off: eating no more calories than I burn. Be aware of portion sizes, and all foods in moderation. Above has worked for me for 4-1/2 years now, I'll stick with my…

Very good start! Fitness level % of Maximum heart rate (MHR) Beginner Low 50 – 60% Average 60 – 70% High 75 – 85% Sustained maximum heart rate for 30-60 minutes But remember, weight loss is mostly about eating less calories than you burn. Track calories for weight loss, consuming less than you are burning.

I have had a fit bit for 3-1/2 years. First a One, then a Force (recalled) and now a Charge HR for just over a year. It is, and has been, the single, best, motivator to get me to move more. It is a good part of the reason that I have lost over 1/2 of my current body weight, and that I have kept it off for almost 3 years. I…

Nope. I lost it, and want to keep it off. Logging keeps me aware and helps me stay focused on my biggest goal of all, keeping the weight off for the rest of my life. The way it has to be for me, and it is honestly no problem at all.
-
You have to do what works for you. Little things tend to add up, and can make a difference for some of us though. I personally log everything that I eat or drink. It worked for me through 20 months of losing the weight and for almost 3 years on maintenance, so I will keep logging to keep myself from regaining.

Yep, I have chocolate every day. I managed lose over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for almost 3 years, eating all foods in moderation. My ultimate goal is to keep the weight off and I know it would never work for me if I denied any food that I love. It has worked so far.
-
It is, of course, up to you. You are doing so great now, if I were you, I would opt out of the surgery and keep going. No matter what you decide, it looks like success is yours! Congratulations on your accomplishment so far, and best of luck for continued success!

I think many of us have the same issue. I know I did for years, decades really. I guess the secret for me was finally @ age 60 saying to myself, "you can not keep putting this off until tomorrow", and I finally did it. That was 4-1/2 years ago, and I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept the weight off for…

It is probably not going to happen, so just eat less calories than you burn (minimum of 1200/day), and stay with your program, do what you can. What are the consequences? Will the Navy work with you if they see you are putting in an effort? I hope things work out for you, and thank you for your service.

I would say if you are absolutely sure of what you are getting, it may be worth the extra price. I think it is definitely worth buying fresh over frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts, especially if you are watching sodium intake.
-
Well, they are here, and I bought some this morning and had them for breakfast. 3/4 cup 110 calories. I didn't think they were real pumpkin-y, but I liked them.
-
^^ ditto this, as five years is a standard for maintaining the weight loss. I am @ 2 years 9 months maintaining a weight loss of over 1/2 of my current body weight, and I can answer yes to all of the OP's bullet points.

As long as you are comfortable with whatever you choose to wear, or not wear, who cares what anyone else thinks about it? Kudos to all who get out their and do something, anything, to get in some exercise.

3# is my normal fluctuation. Food as fuel is a great outlook, unfortunately, I have always been the type of person who "lives to eat". My bad news is my husband is a "eats to live" person. I know it is never going to be possible to be an "eats to live" person for me. I just love everything about food too much. I love to…
