  • By the time I topped a weight of 268lbs, 2 lbs heavier than my husband on a 5'5" tall, small framed woman, it was just one of many things in my life that were out of control at that point. Depression, medications for said depression, loneliness, Yada Yada.....basically I had a long period of time where I ate my feelings…
  • Wishing you all the best. Am a bit younger at 52 and have been here since 2011 and have lost weight from 268lbs down to 110lbs, it sounds as though you have a sound exercise program perhaps making sure you keep in mind the importance of maintaining muscle through a good strength training regime. Wishing you continued…
  • It might be an idea to go back to your Dr and have some relevant tests run on the issues you have mentioned. I have read that hypothyroid disease can make weight slower and harder to shift and by being a borderline diabetic I am assuming Type 2 which is often bought on by excess weight. Maybe it would help you to learn as…
  • Walking is great, perhaps a spin class, but before doing anything engaging the expertise of a physiotherapist to give you some guidelines might be helpful. Hope you heal well good luck.
  • Aw honey, you are welcome for the support. You have to 'live' with this to truly get a glimpse of what others in a similar situation may be experiencing. I still do want to caution you in the low calories and wondering if you have evidence of 'low metabolism' or it is just an inner belief. I too held the belief that my…
  • Oh YES there is a definite difference between the 2 pictures. Our brains are such funny, contrary things.....sometimes we notice tiny differences in ourselves, if it was me I will pick up perceived changed that I might view as imperfections or faults way more quickly than I am likely to acknowledge/see positives. Maybe you…

  • I do too as part of a lovely auto immune package of illnesses..... I am sorry for your struggles but I too would be like to add my concerns about getting a properly certified dietician to help you with your food intake. It may well be that with such a small amount of calories in it could be contributing to increasing your…
  • So inspiring to read about your achievements given your circumstances. I am so glad that you have posted your story as it gives many on here with chronic illness hope. All the very best wishes to you. <3
  • Congratulations Jennifur!!!! Your story is an inspiring one, full of determination and a never say die spirit that has seen you overcome many obstacles that would set many back on their heels forever and make the need for change just too far out of their reach. Totally admire your commitment and dedication and I have no…
  • In my husband's case it certainly significantly improved with weight loss.....whether he would ever have been able to do without the machine completely I don't know as he suffers with both types of apneas. I do know that his machine is on the lowest setting it can be on which is fabulous.
  • Hi there, I am so glad you reached out for support.....there are so many many people on MFP that face daily challenges whether it be a mental health problem or ongoing physical issues too and it can be such a comfort to know you aren't alone. You have some lovely caring replies all of which are solidly grounded in the…
  • Ah I feel you on this subject. I too have numerous family members who are in fairly dismal physical shape.....they are mostly younger than me and they struggle with a lot of extra weight as well as being miserably inactive. I worry that those I love are going to either get a weight related illness/condition or even die of…
  • Congratulations you look wonderful!!!! :flowerforyou: So glad to read you have a 'lifestyle' that works so well for you. Wishing you continued success and have fun with your new friend I'm sure he/she will bring you alot of joy.
  • To those saying she has got this....and the problem is she is eating too much cut more may have missed the bit where OP has said she consumes 500-1500 calories a day!!!!! Are you serious about only eating between 500-1500 calories......and this method is something you have regularly employed??? Your lack of loss may be for…
  • Hi there, There are only a few suggestions that I can make apart from wishing you all the best thru this frustrating time. Firstly, try to be patient, are you weighing everything that you eat to make sure you are correct in your calories??? If not get yourself a set of scales and keep plodding along with MFP. It may well…
  • Hi there, Perhaps rather than seeing this as a crushing defeat you could look at it as a 'reality' check..... Maybe your eye issue and subsequent bout in hospital has given you a different perspective on your situation and you are no longer as 'comfortable' with the extra weight you are carrying. Yeah, I understand that…
  • Hi there, I have been in full menopause since I turned 40, now 51. I was initially besieged by well-meaning friends/family particularly the older of the ladies saying stuff of along the lines of ...."You can kiss the idea of losing weight goodbye, especially now your are on HRT....it is too difficult may impossible to lose…
  • I hope Hookilau doesn't mind me adding her awesome Gif to my own Welcome back.....I just think it's perfect. You aren't the 1st or the last to have lost, gained and then faced doing the whole damn process again. That makes you human and maybe look at it this way, what you learnt the first time round can be applied to this…
  • Hi there, You are NOT alone with these sort of feelings, everyday the a multiple posts which follow along the same lines of difficult issues and mental stress that come with making the choice to have an overhaul of your life. Whilst everyone is different there is a common thread of underlying causes and also the why it can…
  • Oh dear, I am SO sorry this has happened to you. Injury and pain are so difficult to cope/live with, especially when it means that you lose a treasured sport or past time that really made you feel so empowered and positive about your weight loss and life in general. I can relate to this feeling of loss.....I truly think…
  • Thank you SO much for taking the time to share this. You are a VERY inspirational, wise and beautiful young lady and with the insights you have gained and your obvious steely determination (I mean no-one loses that amount of weight without determination) I believe that you are going to go on and achieve more and more inner…
  • Hi there, Hope I am not coming in too late to contribute to this topic (blasted time differences). I am sorry you have had this shock to your system, but it isn't the end of the World, even though right now you may feel that, hopefully with time and a frank discussion with your treating Dr. you will be able to decrease…
  • Thank you for taking the time to write this. The points you covered were very well said. :drinker:
  • QFT.....this says it everything I wanted to say but better!!!! Good Luck :flowerforyou:
  • Hey there, sorry you are going through a rough patch. You are not alone.....this is not an easy road and there are always pitfalls and detours but it sounds as though you are tough and determined and those are necessary traits plus patience that will see you through to the other side. Just to add to your Mountain…
  • Sending you all the best for fulfilling your resolutions. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the ride. :flowerforyou:
  • Well for me reaching my weight goal started me on the journey to further my fitness and test out this 'new' body to see what it was capable of. Of course during the course of losing the weight I exercised, mainly walking, but the closer I got to goal I amped up the intensity, duration, added in difficult Bushwalks and even…
  • Hi there, I struggle with many intolerances - and deal with the issue of Lupus too, which has made this issue 1000 times worse....I agree with you, in that one would think that the negative fall-out from indulging in the 'off-limit' foods would be enough but NO, NO, NO....I swear they call to me at times (and my control,…
