  • So Aragon recommends about 50g per day for an average adult, which is the same number mfp recommends for me on reduced calories. His are really pretty close to the average recommendations, although he does say it's different for very active.
  • If you're getting that number from mfp reports, it can be way off. A lot of the food entries don't have the micronutrient info included. I actually went to the doctor and got blood test done when I saw how little iron I was getting after a month of logging! That was before I realized it wasn't being tracked.

  • Yes, muscle weighs more than fat. In the common vernacular, the "by volume" is understood. Only on mfp have I seen people get twisted up over this and feel the need to point out that a lb of anything weighs the same as a lb of anything else. Maybe this "knowledge" has spilled over from the bodybuilding forums. Gold weighs…
  • Ensure is a drink with nutrients and high calories that is used in hospitals, etc, for people with no appetite, or that can't eat much for whatever reason. It tends to be easier for people with no appetite to get down.
  • Setting an appointment/schedule for yourself is a good idea. When I'm wavering/thinking about skipping it, I tell myself "just put on your workout clothes and shoes anyway". Once I do it makes me want to go.
  • This is what I was taught to do on the machines in a class I took in college.
  • I wasn't clear, but I was agreeing with you. So I could've just said "good point" to the above. ;)
  • She was clearly talking about - if she stayed the same weight but changed her body composition then would she be smaller? "Replace fat with muscle" and "lose fat and gain muscle" strikes me as the same concept.
  • Silly, but they would still be trying to reassure them on the grounds of "volume" there.
  • I'm happy to read the replies in this thread, it's so ridiculous when people correct people on this. Everybody knows that when someone says "muscle weighs more than fat" the "by volume" is understood. That's how people talk, it's perfectly acceptable.
  • Yeah, Christine, that's a bummer. Weather does affect us. I moved to California, I was pretty tired of all the rain (although we could sure use some now!). Back to the milk...2% here, it's what I grew up with.
  • Oh well, you're welcome to come of course! Lol...seriously, August is your best bet if you ever do (unless you like rain). ;)
  • Lies, it's awful it rains all the time ;)
  • Yep, I'm from there originally, Smith Bros delivery! We used to get yogurt, too, had a cooler on the porch for it. My brother still does it.
  • Apples with peanut butter or sharp white cheddar cheese are the perfect snack.
  • If it's too cold outside for your dog, you can walk him at the mall. Home Depot (and Macy's and a bunch of other stores I bring my dog in if I'm in a pinch and need something and it's too hot for the car) allows dogs, too.
  • I find apples surprisely "filling". If I want extra calories at night I usually skip breakfast, have an early lunch and an apple in the afternoon.
  • I admit I don't weigh lettuce. I have a 1 cup entry I hit whenever I have it. I resisted a scale for a long time, but it is way easier than measuring, just put a plate on there and re-tare it every time you add something.
  • Yeah don't know how that would work (maybe that guy lives in Greece?). I don't wanna be the only one paying! Lol
  • Oh man I wish I'd known this sooner! Thanks good to know
  • Hey, I don't have any advice about food, but that's great you got a therapist and nutritionist! I wouldn't be surprised if your low ferritin is contributing to your anxiety. I'm pleased to read your new line of thinking and wish you the best of luck.
  • Training and lifestyle would make a big difference, I think. More activity would allow for more (maybe a lot more). What is excess in grams is debatable and will never be exact, but I think we all pretty much agree there is such a thing and a consensus was reached by most - "The big picture solution is in managing total…
  • There are many things that cause heart disease (just losing weight is often the best thing), I was just pointing out that excess sugar has been linked. I don't even know if it's true, but it's reasonable of her to mention and question it I think.
  • She was hardly out of left field with her comment, not sure why someone laughed at her. A quick google search showed many recent articles on this. http://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2014/02/03/more-evidence-that-sugar-is-harming-our-hearts/
  • With friends like that, who needs friends.
  • Coca-cola is fighting the power. LOL http://www.dallasnews.com/lifestyles/health-and-fitness/health/20150316-coke-as-a-healthy-treat-company-health-experts-get-the-word-out.ece
  • Lol. Or more bread less coke and juice. I didn't catch how much they were drinking to begin with, I imagine it was a lot.
  • Interesting thanks
