  • Have you talked to your doctor about Chantix (I think that is how you spell it)? Is that safe if you have blood clots? I don't know, just throwing something out there for you to consider.
  • Ugh, the beginning is the pits and one reason that has kept me away from picking up another smoke. I never want to go through the first week(s) again. Here are a few things that may help. You should try to find the original thread that preceeded this group. First, accept that it is going to be a tough week or few weeks,…
  • This is great news! Way to go. And just think how great you will feel in 100 days! Keep up the good work.
  • LOL, good one!
  • I got the cough, a cold and and sinus infection about a month after I stopped. I was pissed because I don't get sick often. I ended up getting a cocktail shot and I've been okay since then. It will pass.
  • Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm happy to say that this weekend came and went without me throwing my hands in the air. The holiday season is going to end at some point, so I am going to be okay. Thanks again!
  • I just googled this earlier today. I wanted to see what was going on with my body as I near the 10 month mark.
  • Hello All! I'm Kelly. I've been smoke free since Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. I started in 1995 or around that time. Quitting wasn't easy and there were moments, but I'm so glad I decided to stop. So many things are better now. My health, the taste of food, my hair is healthier, everything smells wonderful and my mood is way…
  • I am officially 9 months smoke free today. NIIIICCCCEEEEE!
  • Hello everyone! I've crossed the 8 month mark. The thought of having a puff still crosses my mind, but I'm millions of miles the from Feb. 3, 2011 feelings. I haven't been working out but the good news is I haven't gained any weight back. So that's what I will be focusing on after this week (after my college Homecoming).
  • The first month I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted. I was not about to try to fight the food battle and the quit battle at the same time. The next month I started working on my food. The 3rd month I started working out. I didn't weigh myself until the third month. If you're going to eat to make up for quitting, try…
  • Greetings All! I'm feeling much better. I crossed the seven month milestone on the 3rd. Today, I went to the gym and I'm back to watching what I eat. I think the best thing is even though I haven't lost in weight since my last weigh in, I haven't gained either. Whew!
  • Krb, you're over 6 months, right? Why do you think the increased desire? [/quote] Well, due to my current job demands I have not been able to workout and eat like I had been for the past few months. I think that's the main problem. 12 hour days, junk food, smoking and stress is what caused me to feel so bad I had to go to…
  • k8es, Carl is an *kitten* and I'm glad you're getting rid of him. craft, I haven't had a smoke dream in a long time, but I have noticed an increase in wanting a cigarette. The thought just pops up that I could really use one. It usually occurs after a big meal, a few drinks or an uncomfortable situation. Once I go through…
  • Morning ALL! Thought I would check in. Craft, sorry I missed your 100th day. Happy 100+. Glad to see so many people supporting each other and quiting. I've passed my 6th month and even though things have been stressful professionally and personally, I have not smoked. Because of my work schedule I have not been working out…
  • Too funny! Thanks for this much needed laugh.
  • Nice to know there are other closet smokers out there. Glad we are all trying to bring our dirty secrets to an end.
  • Good morning to all you wonderful nonsmokers! Today I am part of the six month club! I'm so happy. mcdebbie, keep up the good work. One second, one hour, one day at a time.
  • LMAO! Thanks for the laugh. I'm guilty of this. I gave my bacon away last night because it was No Meat Thursday. Who does that?
  • It really depends on your relationship with your co-workers. I was a closest smoker so most of my co-workers didn't even know I was a smoker. I decided to tell five friends and asked them to be there for me. I call them my cheerleaders and they are/were great. I just checked my calendar and I see August 1 is on a Monday.…
  • I don't care what size you are, the first time is alway scary. I put my baseball cap on, my earbuds in and shut everyone out. Once I started going consistently, I realized some were in better shape than me and others were in worse shape but we were all trying to improve. Get up and go...you are on a mission.
  • Last night I found out that someone screwed up some important data in my department. Needless to say, I spazzed out. I realized I couldn't smoke, drink (only on weekends) or eat any junk food. So I went home, turned up my iPod, cooked a pot of red beans, and washed a load of laundry while singing like I was on stage. This…
  • Do you realize you are head toward 100 days! Of course, it is a one day at a time process, but I'm sure you have thought about it. Keep up the good work.
  • It is so cool to see others putting down cigarettes. Be it one day, one week, one month or one year; we are all a healthier than we were previously. I am 5 months, 1 week and 5 days into this and I am enjoying all the first that have come along with this change. My first nonsmoking roadtrip, date, pressure moment (I…
  • Happy first day! I wish you, your husband and your father the best! Your Dad should be able to tell you what to expect since he as made it through two weeks. Plus, this thread has some interesting facts and experiences as well. The money I saved covers my gym membership and my renewed love of fruit.
  • I crossed the 5 month threshold this weekend (the 3rd) and I had a few moments of reflection. The two major things were that I still want to smoke every now and then, but I don't NEED to smoke. I hope that makes sense. The other thing is it has been easier to stop smoking than getting a handle on my food habits. If I liked…
  • This made me crack up in a great way and I'm glad I'm not the only one. From age 30-35, my motto was 30 is the new 20. As 36 approached, I got to thinking that 40 would be here soon and if 40 is the new 30, then I want to tighten up now. Good luck on your journey!
  • Take a break. It will help your body recover; your risk of injury decreases; and you won't experience burn out.
  • I strongly encourage you to quit. Check out this thread and you will see several people have made it and are happier for it. Your reasons for not quitting will seem silly in the long run. You will be able to taste and smell things like never before. AND your ability to workout will greatly increase.
  • that's AMAZING!! awesome will power there! who cares if u had the cupcake?? you walked it off! you can't "walk off" a cigarette!! very proud!! it's been a month and a half of no smoking for me and i feel AWESOME!! i'm gonna start working out in July, so i'm excited to see how much better i feel then! i work at a school and…
