  • I did Aqua Zumba for the first time this week. Lots of fun =) Do you have a set of waterproof earplugs? There are underwater radios, etc you can use that make it more interesting than just straight laps.....
  • I am SUPER-GIRL. Lean, muscular and feminine. Honest and a defender of the innocent. Followed closely by the Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. :)
  • I want to join a team!! I was a team leader last time, but just want to be a team member this time!!
  • Sounds like dinner on Monday (I'd make it tomorrow, but i have to get cranberries first!!) YUM-YUM-YUM!!!!
  • Seven months ago, I was where you are -- needing to lose 65-70 lbs. Today, I'm less than 20 lbs away from my goal! I just want to encourage each of you that it CAN be done!! It's not always easy, but it IS worth it!! And if I can do it (I'm 44 and have had 4 kids) then YOU can do it too!! Good luck to each of you!!
  • Cardio will burn fat... fat will disappear from all over. In my case, I lost everywhere else first, then started losing in my chest. I had lost nearly 50 lbs before "the girls" started to get smaller -- and then it seemed like I dropped two sizes practically overnight!! I started out as a 42DD -- I'm now a happy 36/38D.…

  • Another trick I've learned (the hard way!!) is to research the menu before I go somewhere. That way, I can choose my meal in advance, knowing how many calories I have left for the day. It makes it easier to make wise, informed decisions!!
  • Hi all!! Hope you'll let me join in -- I'm 5'4-1/2"..... most of my friends are 5'8" and up, and it's really discouraging when they weigh the same as me but are 2-3 sizes smaller :grumble: 2011 was the start of my dedicated "life-time change". I managed to lose 52 lbs and 4 dress sizes (yay!!!) and am now comfortably in a…
  • I go shoeless at home on the carpet or a yoga mat... I wear shoes for running outside or at the gym.
  • Since you've replied to this post, it will show up under "My Topics" on the Community page (go to Home, then Community, then My Topics and click on the thread title). Welcome to MFP!!
  • I'm in!!! Name: Cristy (TNGirlyGIrl) Current weight (12/28/11) 158.6 Challenge Goal: Reach my goal weight!! (147) I will re-evalute when I get there... I'm thinking 140 might be do-able for me after all. We will see!! This is the kick-in-the-butt I need to reach goal (I started April 24, 2011 at 210 and have lost 52 lbs…
  • I'm at 158.6.... same as start weight :grumble: I had lost 1.2 the first week, but gained it back over the holidays... stupid, yummy Christmas cookies (and chocolate, and caramel popcorn, and.......) sigh.... guess it's time to hit the treadmill again!! HAPPY NEW YEAR ya'll!!!!
  • I was born in Canada to Euro parents, moved to AZ in 3rd grade, went to college in TX, lived in CA, spent 4 years in OK before coming to TN 17 years ago. I have a little bit of all of those mixed in.... nobody agrees on what I sound like, but everyone agrees I don't sound like I'm from "around here" LOL I'm a sucker for…
  • I'm 44 and have been using MFP for about 7 months. I've lost 53 lbs and dropped from a size 18W/20 to a 12, working my way into a 10. (I haven't been this size since 9th grade....) I have cut out most junk food (I splurge occasionally on chocolate) and work out 45-60 minutes 5 or 6 days a week. When I first started, I…
  • Thanks to four kids and abdominal surgery, I'll never get to wear a bikini :grumble: (I haven't worn one since I was 14 and that was 30 years ago ) but this year, I plan to ENJOY swimsuit shopping for the first time ever!!! I can't wait to buy one that's not solid black
  • My parents are both 100% Dutch, born in Holland. They moved to Canada (separately) in their teens, met and married there. I was born in Edmonton, AB then immigrated to the US when I was in grade school. My kids are first-generation American on my side (their dad's family is English and has been here since the 1600's).
  • I used to drink a 12-pack or more a day. I'm down to 1-2 a day and sometimes go a whole day without any at all!!! I'm hoping to get to the point that I only drink 1-2 a week, but I'm not going to stress about it! I don't drink alcohol, don't eat junk food, don't smoke or do drugs.... everybody needs a vice of some kind!!!…
  • Well, not gonna make the double-run today, so I changed my total for today to only 4 miles total.... still better than not getting out at all!!! I finally forced myself to eat my "blue", too (fresh blueberry yogurt -- I'm not a big fan of blueberries!!) so I was able to complete my rainbow =) As a team, we lost over 33…
  • Thursday: Got in my fruits and veggies, plus 50 crunches and 20 push-ups. Had a mini-crisis to deal with involving my step-son (he's a youth minister and one of the kids in his youth group was caught shop-lifting on a church outing) so didn't get in my walk. Friday: will have LOTS of fruits/veggies today since I'm FINALLY…
  • WOO HOO!!! What a great Christmas gift to yourself!!! I am VERY proud of you and all your hard work!!!!
  • Tuesday: Got in my fruits/veggies but no exercise at all Wednesday: Fruits and veggies plus 1.9 miles walking, 50 crunches and 20 push-ups
  • Step-ups = 4 steps, right? (up up down down?) So.... 4 steps x 600 = 2400; approx 2000 steps/mile = 1.2 miles =)
  • OK -- Here's the response from MM regarding the advantages: Going to give four separate advantages: one for team with highest avg miles, one for sit-ups, one for push-ups, and one for jumping jacks. We're doing team average, since some teams are so small. So, do all of them as a team, but you can break it up per…
  • I have a PM in to MM to see if we need to do all three exercise or just concentrate on one... for now, everyone pick what you want to do and do as many as you can. I'll let you know what MM says about doing all three, but we all have strengths (no pun intended) and some of us can do more of certain exercises (ie, I love…
  • WEEK 8: It's All About YOU!! Once again, we were the top losing team before advantages, and second once advantages were handed out!!!! WAY TO LOSE IT, TEAM!!!! This week: 1. Nutrition challenge: 4 cups of fruit and/or vegetables from the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white, and violet) daily. 2.…
  • I'm in. Start weight this morning 158.6. Merry Christmas from Tennessee!!!
  • Tuesday: no exercise, but did 10 minutes of stretching while I was at my son's wrestling match -- I'm trading that for yoga. My fiber is good, but i'm under on protein -- I try to limit it, though, and I don't want to change it up!! 128 oz of water Wednesday: 35 minutes of cardio plus 10 minutes stretching/yoga. Fiber is…
  • Just track the macros for your other challenge... if you're reaching those, that's good enough. We have to be realistic -- the real goal here is to make sure we're eating healthy!!
  • Monday: water: 112 oz nutrition: close on both protein and fiber (I'm calling it good if we are 80% or better) yoga: buahahahahahha that was too funny. I'm not known for my grace or balance!! Also completed 60 minutes of cardio (Elliptical -- and I killed it!!! Worked harder than I'd ever done =)
