My husband and I are both overweight. (We were much thinner when we met years ago!) LOL And, my husband is still completely gorgeous - even with the extra weight.

Hi there! Two kids in two years? You must be very busy! My kids are spread out (13, 7, 2) - but so was my weight gain! This is my first real attempt to lose the weight that has packed on with the kids, working, and just having a busy, crazy life in general. So far things are going well, and I'm determined to keep it that…

Gum is a really great idea! It's terrible for my teeth, but sometimes I will suck on a sucker. It's not perfect, but it helps.

Fellow mommy here - with three great kids. Our baby boy (now two) was our last, so I'm determined to get something of my former health and figure back! I'm loving this site - it's definitely helping me to stay on target and much more focused. I get excited to see what my other friends are doing (it's really motivating!!).…

Alyssa Milano! Her body is gorgeous whether she is totally ripped or not. Plus, she's one of the few actresses that have kept it together even though she was a "child actress." No major freak-outs; no drugs addiction. And, she's a business woman. So, I respect her in several ways. :-)

Some doctors are just jerks. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I've been really lucky - my doctor has very gently brought up the issue of my weight (when I was in for a bad knee). She tried to be positive and non-judgemental, which I really appreciated. I've had several relatives who weren't so lucky. One doc told a…

Men definitely tend to be more physical creatures than women (which makes the stereotype funny ... there is partial truth). However, at the end of the day, I have found that men are just as complicated and complex as women both emotionally and intellectually. It's just expressed differently (mostly due to social…

It actually sounds like you are doing it the healthy way ... consistent and over time. I'm so sorry you feel disappointed - particularly because I want to CONGRATULATE you. You are sticking with it and THAT is so important (and so tough to do).

Love tattoos! I have a couple, but they are discrete and very feminine. :-)

Hello fellow mommy! I have three great kids who keep me super busy (13, 7, and 2). I'm done reproducing! LOL This is my first week here - but holding strong so far! Please feel free to add me!

Oh, I hope so! LOL My theory is that walking will burn calories a whole lot faster than sitting on my buttocks! And because I don't have the best joints anymore, walking is even more "inviting" as an exercise. I hope that with less weight on my joints (somewhere down the line) and a bit more muscle - that I will be able to…

I'm so sorry! What a tough night for you (the emotional roller coaster ride). I'm more of an "emotional eater" than anything, but I think I can relate. One thing I started recognizing with myself was patterns. I have certain triggers for my emotional eating; and I know I can't stop the triggers (stress happens whether I…

I know the feeling. I had the "Doctor lecture" as well. My last pregnancy was particularly disconcerting (just 2 years ago). I wish you the best of luck! It's past time for us to get healthy!

Not to make light of your difficulty, but I wish I had trouble hitting 1200 calories. I can get almost that much in calories just in liquids in a day (I love juice! - and, as someone mentioned, smoothies are pretty high in calories, even though super healthy). Good luck on sorting through it all. It can definitely be a big…

Such an interesting topic! As with everything, there is a way "to do it" and a way "not to do it." I've told my 13 and 7 year olds this - tell the truth, but be mindful about it. If someone is overweight to an unhealthy extreme, it's perfectly okay (and even caring) to be honest, but it's HOW you say it that matters. If…

I've just started - but I've been mentally preparing for this for several months. I decided to experiment with new / different snack-type foods to find some low-cal, and possibly healthy, snacks that I could indulge in daily. I'm a serious snacker and I knew coming into this that giving up "snacking' would make me feel…

What a phenomenal journey - physically and emotionally! Congratulations. (And thanks so much for sharing!)

I think I just need to hang out in this thread any time I feel a craving - how motivating!!! Thank you for sharing your story - and a huge congratulations on all of your hard work!

Oh, I'm terrible at night! The kids are asleep - I'm drained from a long day of running after my kids (all wonderful - and I'm happy to do it, but it's exhausting!), working, and now I'm just starting to work out again after several years. It all adds up to "mmm ... that sounds good" as I sit in a quiet living room (hubby…

I'm new here too - and love that fact that there are so many other "mommies" out there working toward the same goal! I haven't added anyone yet, but if I can figure it out, I will be happy to add you.

This happened to a girl I was friends with many moons ago (high school). Between weight training and cardio, her periods stopped coming altogether. I would recommend talking to your doc just to be on the safe side.
