  • I've worried about the same thing. I don't eat a lot of red meat. Looking at these statistics you also see the real contents, not just "foods with iron"; http://www.webmd.com/diet/iron-rich-foods As you can see, beef is the only major source of heme iron. And how often you eat clams or oysters? I eat quite a bit of salmon,…
  • I've set the target to 1500 calories a day. I think my BMR is 2000 a day - hard to know exactly how active you are, but I seem to lose at 1500. When I've burned 300 (or so I think) I eat 1800. Sometimes I eat more too, if I'm absolutely starving, though never over maintenance completely.
  • I drink one big cup every morning. It's freeze dried instant with skimmed milk. About 35 cals. I see no reason to skip that on a diet. I absolutely need it, and the calories are so few. Plus I find that it stalls hunger a bit.

  • I have actually made omelets like that several times and it works well. They can get boring though. The other factor is price of food. I live in Oslo (Norway) and the food prices are among the highest (if not the highest) in the world. Eggs cost a bit so I don't always the conscience of throwing away several yolks, or…
  • Thanks, I will do this. I have chia seeds but I am not too fond of them plain. I'll try to make the pudding.
  • I do use a lot of vegetables. I used to make tacos / fajitas with a tortilla, minced meat, cheese and some vegetables. Now I don't use a tortilla or chips at all - just a very small portion of minced meat, lots of onion, chili, corn, peppers, cabbage and peas. No carbs whatsover and 75% vegetables. It's low calorie and…
  • I wish. Even with a thin crust, a homemade pizza is way too high calorie. I sometimes make a pizza out of just a tortilla with low fat cheese but it's still a treat. I'm better off just eating the chicken.
  • It has a little added lemon flavour that helps. Either way, been taking it since I was little :)
  • I'm 5"9 and 135 lbs is my goal. I know that's okay for my build, because I used to be at that weight and I was slender and healthy and exercised. For a man it does seem low though.
  • It will depend on what they are serving but I usually go for either wine or gin w/diet tonic. Also I find champagne to be quite a nice option. The serving sizes are naturally somewhat smaller, and the calories are not so bad. Plus the bubbles go to your head quite fast. At least for me - I'll get a buzz quick, so I won't…
  • Yes and when my boyfriend's been visiting we've had room service and also so hard to calculate...suppose I have to eliminate myself from those situations for a while and just eat very simple stuff...
  • I was planning to have a fast day today, but not managing...been binging again and feel hopeless :( How do you get back on track?
  • I've gone over my TDEE today so will probably do a fast day tomorrow... Just find it hard. In the past, I've gone to unhealthy methods. A few month ago I used to have days when I'd binge and drink a lot and then induce vomiting. I don't want to do that anymore, but I still have rare days when I can't control my eating.
  • I've stopped using my scale. Granted, I only have a few vanity pounds to lose. If the goal is to lose a lot I can see why it's important to somewhat track the progress. I find that my weight fluctuates so much - around my period or just the morning after a big meal. And I know myself well, I get so demotivated if it isn't…
  • Thanks for the advice. I have never actually eaten fast food or junk food, I grew up on very healthy food and cook most of my meals myself. Don't really have a sweet tooth either. When I consume too many calories, it's because I simply eat too much. Like when I am back with my parents and have some of mum's home made food…
  • My food scale broke (the second one I bought in a short period of time!) so for some time I've been forced to estimate in other ways. But I will get a new one and start measuring again. I am a bit hungry when I go to bed every day so I suppose I have a slight deficit anyway though.
  • How often do you guys go to the gym?
  • Hm yes maybe I can eat back 100 or 200. I usually go around 6pm so I eat most of my meals before that, and make sure I have enough energy. I don't know how accurate calorie estimates are though? I'm 146 lbs so maybe I don't burn that much.
  • I don't lift at all no, and I don't know where to start. Slightly afraid of going into a weightlifting room with all those bulky men. But I've decided to start exercising again either way. Find one of those places in London where you can pay for 10 spin classes or 10 pilates sessions. I have been dieting and binging on/off…
  • I am 5"9 and about 146 lbs. I am not fat by any means but I used to be about 16 lbs lighter than I am now and I miss it.
  • Thanks for the advice. From the calories on the packet, it would give 340 calories. I weighed the fat at approx 12 grams, so I subtracted 100 calories from it and logged as 240 calories. Looking at the amount I think it seems fair.
  • You're supposed to be using very little. An article I read on it said to start out with half a teaspoon and go up to one tablespoon per day maximum - you're not supposed to have too much of it. I use it on my coffee occasionally when I have my coffee cold (the heat will kill it). I put the coffee in the fridge with ice…
  • I really feel like this new. The first lbs went off easily, but the last vanity pounds are just...stuck. As I'm not big now my TDEE is low and I've been on 1200-1300 calories the past week, plus been walking a lot. Today: 200 grams lighter - less than half a pound. The scale might as well not be moving at all. I feel…
  • After another week of hard effort, I've only lost 0.2 kg / less than half a pound :( I feel like I might as well not be moving at all. Maybe it just takes a bit longer to show?
  • I've fallen off a couple of times and what helps me most is to recognize it the very next day, don't beat myself up about it and then undo it as soon as I can. For example, Friday night I drank too much and went over my maintenance calories. I felt like **** the next day but decided to go to bed early, drink some herbal…
  • Yes I've realized I can have some bad fluctuations. I once tried to weigh myself before and after I went to the loo and there was a significant difference. I might be containing quite a bit of food now - I don't go often and I eat a lot of fat/protein and not so much fiber. I might get a fiber supplement again like I used…
  • I usually walk or run at night, I live in London and it's too hot during the day now. I'm actually afraid of eating back my calories - I did for some time and I didn't lose so I suppose I overestimated the amount of calories burned and the margins are so small now. So now I just try to move as much as I can and not count…
  • I have never heard of, or observed, a method of birth control that will stimulate weight loss. If there was a type that actually did that, we'd all be on it. However I have used Nuvaring and it has not increased appetite or made me bloat, so I suppose that's a neutral option.
  • Attractiveness is a big part of it. But when I gained weight and was at my heaviest I hated it because it was a physical symbol of my lifestyle and my relationship with food. I knew that when I was slim I was healthy, happy and enjoying life. Extra 20 lbs meant I was reaching for food for happiness. For me, it's basically…
