Mason jar salads look adorable (dressing in the bottom with hard veggies/protein, so lettuce on top stays fresh) but I do find them hard to eat. A decent, meal-sized salad is packed tightly into a pint jar, and the ingredients don't move when you shake it. The salad never really gets tossed. Packing it in a larger jar with…

Thanks for the response! That makes sense and satisfies my curiosity. I am going to continue enjoying my strength gains and fat loss, and try not to get too hung up on details. My goal is just to be healthy. Thanks again!

Awesome progress! Way to go! also: I have a Fitbit and I like it a lot. I got the Fitbit One bc I like to clip it to my bra, instead of wear a bracelet. It definitely motivates me to move more!

I have every size from 4 to 14. I'm currently size 10, and my goal is to be back in my size 6-8 clothes and maintain there. I donated all my 14's except one pair of jeans, so I can wear them for an "after" picture when I reach my goal weight. :) I plan to donate my 12's when I get to size 8 (currently I can still wear some…

Hi Vismal, Love this thread. I have read almost all of it -- very helpful! Thank you so much! I have what I suspect is a dumb question, but here goes :) I am currently in weight loss/fat loss mode. My question: If I'm not gaining muscle mass (and perhaps even losing some), why am I getting stronger as I continue lifting…

Here's me so far: 22 lbs lost, size 14 to size 10. I've got about 28 more pounds to my goal weight!

Way to go! Results like that are motivating, aren't they? :)

Ditto, to Vilmaes, thank you for your blog! I just discovered it thanks to NewLIFEstyle4ME mentioning it - somehow I missed your (Vilmaes) original post right above it. I relate to so much of your weight loss journey. Your 5 epiphanies address things that I have also struggled with, and your relationship with your trainer…

Short version of what worked for me: having accountability by meeting with a nurse practitioner every 2 to 3 weeks, whose area of expertise is weight loss to prevent/reverse disease. Longer version: I'm 46 and so far I've lost 20 pounds out of 50 that I need to lose. In the past I had never been overweight, and whenever my…

Mine is all over the place, otherwise I get bored! Gym, yoga studio, outdoors, etc. My Sunday and Wednesday workouts are classes, so those are pretty firm in my schedule. The rest is up to me, so I can sub things if I'm not in the mood, or I'm sore, or whatever. A typical week looks like this: Mon: Weight training (total…

Hang in there, and you will see a difference. You are on the right track if you have lost 7 lbs. in 4 weeks, but it does take some time to see results. I was SO frustrated the first 4 weeks of my weight loss, feeling like I was working so hard and not seeing any progress. Then it got easier because I noticed changes, but…

Weight goes on my midsection last, and then comes off first. My butt is where weight goes first, and comes off last. Gotta love genetics, huh?! ;)

I'm "in progress" on my weight loss too, but I'll offer my 2¢ anyway. I also feel discouraged by the pace of my weight loss. My #1 tip was "patience" but others have already said that, so here is my one (more) tip: • Counteract frustrated/negative thoughts with encouraging and inspiring ones. It could be hanging post-its…

You rock! Totally inspiring!

Way to go! Best of luck to you!

Thanks everyone! Sometimes progress feels slow, but pics really help, and so do your supportive comments. :)

I originally planned for a pampering reward every five pounds lost, like a manicure, massage, or pedicure. Then I realized that I was only looking forward to the massage, so I changed my reward to a massage every five pounds lost. It's so individualized -- I think that a good reward for meeting a mini-goal is whatever…
