Let's not start this debate. It's useless. Also, I'd prefer to not confuse MFP members by regurgitation of information.

I don't log my water, I just drink it because it feels good to me. I keep a liter sized bottle w/me at work. It is gone before the end of the day. Is it too much? I don't know, but yes, I certainly make many bathroom trips.

@destiny, thx! I try to remain as objective as possible...that's why I refrain from posting on most threads, and prefer to contemplate what people are posting.

I have found this to be the case also (at least w/my eating habits). It may be that if you are ill, and your illness stems from lack of proper diet/+ exercise, it is on average more expensive to 'eat unhealthy'. However, examing an average as compared to a single variable won't result in a very conclusive result. That…

I find that after about 15-25 min HIIT on the stationary cycle I am beat. I love the cycle (for when I choose to do cardio, which isn't very often).

I enjoy the leangains approach :)
-
After reading much of the leangains website, Martin recommends a 14 hour fast for women (due to client experience and their increased propensity to store fat when compared with men). It is imperative you supplement with BCAA's. I won't start in on the science because I haven't gotten through studying how leucine,…

I'm with Acg67 on this one. I second his opinion.

I use Turmeric for it's anti-inflammatory properties (yes i'm sure there's still debate about this). I'll throw some in a protein shake or add it to my chicken like you :). Generally speaking most spices are very healthy for the individual.

That's great news you're still losing weight! I would certainly cut the sugar out of your coffee. Maybe try using a sweetener, or training yourself to enjoy your foods natural taste. The same applies to sodium. Once you make the switch, you'll never return to adding sugar/salt to your foods. Also, try not to eat processed…

Doesn't Martin recommend sticking to the larger compound movements for the 3x workouts/week?

What is a 30 day shred? I'm not familiar with this fitness method.

Definitely going for an "almost extreme and muscular V taper". I don't pay attention to bodyfat% due to the fact that regardless of what bodyfat percentage you carry, it all comes down to how it looks in the mirror/ to others/AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOURSELF. Started at 6'4" 169 (march 2011) Currently 6'4" 192-195lb.…

It will lower the sodium intake considerably, however, placing a numerical figure in mg's would be difficult at best. In the rare cases I eat canned foods (usually tuna in water) I also rinse the food. I would go with lloydrt's suggestion of steaming veggies. I would also cook up some chicken to add in the mix. In addition…

I'm not too familiar with lower body bodyweight excercises, however, my two cents would be the incorporation of supersets/giant sets/ and circuit training. This should keep your HR elevated and sufficiently fatigue your muscles in an efficient manner. An example would be... 20-25 single leg calf raises (done on the edge of…

I don't pay attention to the MFP guidlines. I set my own diet proportions (protein:carb:fat). I realize this isn't for everyone, but it is imperative one listens to their body and what it likes/doesn't like. On my high calorie days for example I'll have over 3k calories, however, my fat intake on those days (and most days)…

Double Bump. Get your carbs in the morning upon waking (no don't go get ready for the day first, eat first) or get your carbs in postworkout (provided you feel that you've worked hard enough to have them). All other times stick to lean protein and veggies. Don't eat after 9pm. You can do it! P.S. Another quick way to drop…

Oh man..EAS Vanilla. I tried that a long time ago and couldn't stand it. After trying a many different proteins, i've found that for me, Optimum Nutrition's products mix+/taste the best. Additionally they provide the best amino acid profile that I have seen on the market. On a separate note, if you're incorporating protein…

Consistency is key for tracking weight over any given period of time. One should weight themselves.. Upon waking after going to the bathroom (if the need is felt) the same day of each week.

I'm not sure..but my favorite granola (due to volume vs. macronutrients) is hemp granola w/flaxseed (bulk foods, usually found in organic sections). Serving is 1/2C 5g FAT 20g CHO 6g SUG

Tasty indeed. I'm pretty sure I eat a little peanut butter and a banana every day..yum.

Rock on! I want a 25" waist..ok maybe not that small. Mad props tho!
-
props on the almond milk..that stuff is like candy to me (I like the unsweetened vanilla or chocolate). I've also mixed in protein. It's pretty good IMO.

bump*accountantboi*. Nice post. One must figure out your their specific needs. I'd just want to add that some studies show (in trained subjects (ie. atheletes) increased levels of sodium are acceptable basically due to the increased activity level. I myself lift hard and heavy and have found 2500-3500mg sodium keeps my…

I'm assuming they gym did the bf% test w/calipers? The only "true" way i've heard of is a displacement test..however..we don't have a facility w/that equipment in town. Most people grossly underestimate their bf%...22% is just fine IMO (and according to the charts) especially if you're consistently working out/working on…

Bump Erickirb* Calories in calories out. If youre goal is to lose weight, you should be creating a calorie deficit based upon how much weight you would like to lose over a given period of time. However, measuring your calories down to the single digits is very difficult and often, very inefficient. IMO, your calorie…

bump*emdeegan. Studies have been completed that seem to illustrate artificially sweetened substances interfere with your body's ability to regulate insulin. I won't speak to the other chemicals in diet soda due to my lack of background on them. IMO/Experience if you're trying to simply lose weight an occaisonal diet soda…

I use Optimum Nutritions Products daily..and I tend to stay away from protein bars as they usually contain many artificial ingredients...anyways Optimum Nutrition IMO is the best. 1. They have a diverse selection of products each geared towards a specific fitness goal (gain/lose/maintain etc.) 2. There aren't any unneeded…

Hey, thanks for the compliment. I'm am in no way qualified to give you medical advice, however, I would use diet and excercise before turning to appetite suppresants UNLESS you have another medical condition (usually hormone/metabolism related) requiring the prescribed medication. There are 'natural' ways to suppress your…
