I've been dealing with PCOS (and the metabolic syndrome that comes with it) since I was a teenager. The only time I was ever able to lose any decent amount of weight was when I went through boot camp. And as soon as I was out of the service it all came back on, and then some! I'm trying to get back on track right now, and…

A fried egg sandwich. Don't know why, it's just sounded really good all day! Must be my redneck showing...

For me? Therapy...lots and lots of therapy. My weight problem is part hormonal...but my lack of self-control and self-sabatoge are all in my brain. I've had to learn to understand WHY I eat the way I do, and why I don't feel I deserve to be healthy. Some folks can do that on their own. I had to pay someone to help me…

Don't feel at all bad...my husband and I have checked out every single cookbook they have in our local library. We've now resorted to ordering them from other branches, as well as hitting thrift stores and garage sales to find them.

Wow-totally forgot about the Dresden Files!! That's the one 'nerdy' show I could guarantee my husband would watch with me!

Firefly and Freaks and Geeks. I would say Heroes, if they hadn't jumped the shark in season 2.

Therapy is never a bad idea for anyone, honestly. It keeps me from murdering people. But honestly, it's time to ditch the nutritionist. Someone with such severe weight issues should NEVER be body shamed, especially by the medical personnel that is supposed to be helping them.

1-Get a referral to a couple of other orthodontists, there's gotta be someone out there who can see you sooner!! 2-Part of the reason there's so much pain is the exposed nerve. What helped me a little bit was getting a box of wax (the type you use for braces) and use a hunk to cover the hole in your tooth until you can get…

Jar Jar Binks was the coolest character EVER.

I'm absolutely addicted to sugar and carbs....bread, cakes, candy bars, pastries-you name it, I'd eat it without question! I just switched to a plant-based diet a little over a month ago, and I went through massive withdrawals. Headaches, shakes, moody, etc. I felt SOOO bad for my husband!!! It took a few weeks, but I'm…

To get completely off my meds for weight-related illnesses...blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol.

It's gotten better with time...I think they were definitely trying too hard to be funny in the beginning. Plus it seems that his nerves may have gotten to him a bit at the start. Definitely much better a few episodes in!!

Don't even keep a scale in the house! I've fallen into that as well....I resolved to only weigh in 'officially' on Tuesday mornings before my run, but I keep finding myself on there, sometimes two or three times a day! I'd completely chuck mine out the door, but dear hubby is able to control himself & only weigh once a…

I'll be blunt-that totally sounds like b**ch move to make you feel bad about yourself. If you're still continuing on your weight loss journey and she's either quit or stalled, she may be saying things to make herself feel better. Just ignore it-you know you're doing the right thing for you, and you're still making…

Reading: I just introduced my son to Stephen King's Dark Tower series, so I'm indulging myself in a re-reading of the entire thing. Currently halfway through book three. Also, since I'm between semesters at school, trying to play catch-up on Steve Berry's books. Playing: Nothing right now...I go through fits and spurts on…

I tried the whole eating 5-6 minimeals a day...didn't work for me. I'm better off with 3 meals a day, and I usually have a small snack right before bed. I eat a TON of food at my meals (recently began a vegetarian diet), and I seem to be more satisfied after a meal, and stay fuller longer. It took a lot of trial and error…

Hubby will be 43 next month, and he's STILL having growth spurts!!

Actually, for us bigger gals, swimming is the best way to go! You get an excellent cardio workout without putting a lot of stress on your joints. It was the first thing my doc suggested to me until I was ready to start running. http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/guide/fitness-basics-swimming-is-for-everyone

I've always been told-including by my dietician-that cheese is fine for someone who's watching calories, as long as you limit it. I have a piece of low-fat string cheese every day, and along with an apple or banana it makes a perfect sized and filling snack. There are so many rumors about what's good for you and what's…

The only downside I ever saw to this was that I could never work my neck, and couldn't do a lot of shoulder work...I'm a short, squat little thing and would get the dreaded 'linebacker neck' if I ever did any work in that area!! However, when I was lifting years and years ago, it was SO much easier for me to add muscle…
