  • Add me, ladies! I have a 2 month old baby girl and am looking forward to getting back into the wicked shape I was pre-pregnancy! It's going to be a journey, since I gained 50lbs while pregnant!
  • HEY! My name is Mariah. I live on the East Coast of Canada, and will be turning 30 in March! Height: 5'7" Current weight: 150lbs Birthday goal weight: 140lbs Ultimate goal weight: 130lbs All the best!
  • Personally, I think that THIRTY is a big deal for women because it's a real check-in point. In your 20's, there's no real expectations - you can travel, learn, grow, screw up, and fail spectacularly and, not only is it totally acceptable, it's very much expected. But somehow, when you hit thirty, there is this general…
  • Sounds dumb but.... sometimes I brush my teeth if I feel like eating something. Then I know that, if I do go ahead and stuff it down my gullet, I'm going to have to re-brush my teeth, which I am OCD about hating to do. Everyone else's points about herb tea, etc are great! Sometimes if the sugar craving is intolerable, I'll…
  • I feel your pain - I have a COLOSSAL appetite. My husband is still talking about the first Christmas I took him home and the sheer quantity of Christmas Dinner I put away - haha! But, I do find something that works well for me anyways, is watching the glycemic index. If I eat stuff like white rice, bread (in any form…
  • Hey, yeah! I guess we're all married now!! Congratulations, hope all your wedding days were as magical as you'd hoped! All the best for a lifetime of health and happiness :)
  • 30 in March!! Add me, people!! It's gonna be the best, fittest, hottest, year of my life! I want to start this next decade with record-level confidence and health.
  • I love, love, love, Vega. It's a bit pricey, but is completely vegan and natural and totally delicious. No sugar or weird crap! Vanilla Chai is my fave, but Chocolate it pretty damn tasty as well.
  • Thanks everyone! Lots of great ideas! Good luck :)
  • Learn how to cook! There is lots of recipes on the internet (I love allrecipes.com). As far as budgeting, I am trying something new right now which is making a WORLD of difference. We used to go to the grocery store and just buy whatever looked yummy, without really planning .We'd end up throwing out tons of food that had…
  • Yep have an FT7 and it worked like a charm the first 3 months or so.... now it randomly stops working, says "Check Heart Rate Transmitter" midway through a workout. Washing the strap in the washing machine helps - it'll work again for a workout or two and then back to crapping out on me. At least now I am able to make…
  • Awesome pics, ladies!! I can honestly say that, although I've been fit my whole life, until I started lifting weights I had never seen results like this before. I can eat an amazing amount of food on a daily basis, so cardio just doesn't work for me -- I might burn 500 cal but can eat back twice as much (and cardio makes…
  • Switch up your routine -- add some resistance. Doesn't have to be crazy, but I found that is what made the difference for me!
  • Are you absolutely 100 percent sure your treadmill is in km? Because it sounds to me like it is in miles.
  • I work six hours on, six hours off, 24/7, for 28 days in a row, and then have 28 off. It is nuts. It took me two years to really get a system in place that works for me and stops me from going on exhaustion carb binges. You can do it. Have healthy snacks packed with protein available to grab when you're hungry, and really…
  • I use water, but I find I really have to soak it or it'll stop working halfway through my workout... it worked perfectly for the first month then started intermittently saying "Check Transmitter" and randomly stopping. (I rinse it out after every workout and run it through the wash just like in the instructions, about…
  • Whatever it is, I love this class and regularly burn 400+ calories in an hour doing it. Judging by the soreness factor, and the fact that I am continually upping my weights, and that IMHO I am looking rather stacked, my muscles are working, HARD! That being said, I always put on the absolute MAX weight I can handle, and I…
  • Possible, but not likely. The 300 range (for me) is a good estimate for 30 minutes if I'm really going all-out. Of course when I pound a lot of coffee right before a workout, it elevates my heartrate and gives an artificially high calorie burn.
  • I used to get mad headaches because I'd workout in the morning before eating anything - when I switched it up and started having at least a smoothie or a banana or yogurt or something (and coffee, of course!) they went away. Pre-fuelling :) Nice work on the 10k by the way!
  • FANTASTIC!!!
  • Hey! I've used my Polar FT7 in the pool and it worked great after I figured out that the strap has to be SUPER TIGHT to pick it up. Once I got it snugged up properly it was bombproof. Highly recommend this one in general, too, very easy to use and haven't had any kind of problems with it. It was $120 but I've heard of…
  • Hey! I work on a ship, so I have similar kind of space restraints - I recently got really into Jillian Michaels' workouts, they only require enough space to do basic bodyweight moves (jumping jacks, pushups, etc). I started with the 30-day Shred which you can get on iTunes for about $10, and you only need a couple of light…
  • Shred it and steam it -- voila, "Spaghetti" with one-one millionth the calories and carbs!
  • I work 6-hours on, 6-hours off, for 28 days straight, followed by 28 days completely off (yeah it's nuts). I find that the extra "time awake" does not do me any favours, nor does the sleep deprivation which drives me to shovel down carbs like they're disappearing from the planet! I don't think that just "staying awake" is…
  • Doing JM Body Revolution and it's freaking awesome, I've never felt so strong in my life, even though I was formerly a competitive rower! I sometimes substitute running or another workout for the "Cardio" days just to mix it up a bit or get an extra burn. Haven't lost a ton of weight but feel amazingly strong and toned,…
  • Killer!! Way to go.
  • Who "LOVES" Burpees!!? You're on crack. That being said, here's a wicked Burpee workout: 20, 19, 18... 3, 2, 1. For time.
  • One thing: Your Words Create Your World. Look at the adjectives you use to describe yourself: your post title says it all "Fat And Lazy". You cannot hate yourself into happiness...
  • Yes - and even more importantly, I feel like counting calories and tracking nutrients has made me aware of the QUALITY of fuel I am putting in my body. Keeping at 1200/day is hard, but when I make good choices (high protein, avoiding carbs, wheat, sugar, dairy) then I don't even feel hungry even at such a low calorie…
  • OMG, I am laughing so hard at this thread.... not AT you guys, but in total commisseration... I've been there! Shift work does a number on your body, and makes me a crazy carb-o-holic. It's not uncommon for me to go down to the cafeteria and eat ten White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies, all in one sitting... washed down…
