Not a diabetic, but from everything I have read here -most diabetics manage carb intake, not try to eliminate them completely. Can you get an appointment with a registered dietician? Someone with medical expertise should be helping you through this. Keto is simply a very low carb diet to lose weight. It works like any…

This is an international site, so many entries are already net carbs. This is why you won't see a net carb tracker. The math is pretty simple.

I know that wasn't your question. Perhaps the website that sold you on the shake idea is where you need to ask it.

You don't need a shake day to "detox" your body. A healthy liver and kidneys already do that for you. Detoxes and cleanses are just diet woo (popular nonsense to sell stuff). https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/detox-diets/faq-20058040

A preference to whom? People selling shakes? This is a website where people log food, so most of us do that. Eat real food, log your portions. Yes, this takes work. But you will learn so much about your eating habits. Learning is a good thing because weight loss is going to be the first step. Keeping the weight off will…

I didn't click on the link, but weight loss is about a calorie deficit. Take in fewer calories than your maintenance. That's the easiest number to manipulate. Exercise is good for your fitness and health, so pick exercise you enjoy and do it for LIFE. If you burn a few calories exercising, then that's good too. But don't…

You are not building lean muscle while eating less the the default minimum for an adult male. You are more likely losing muscle, which means you aren't effectively lower body fat % as much as you can. Google skinny-fat. Recomposition is what you should be looking into. Eat maintenance calories and strength train…

It's just Michael Mosely's diet "this year." He comes up with some new twist (usually recycled ideas) to sell books. He's a publicist making a ton of money. I wouldn't count on this being anything life changing.

I disagree - most of these posts have been helpful. Just because the posts don't agree with your methods does not mean they aren't helpful. Juice has lots of MICRO-nutrients, macro-nutrients not so much. This is why posters above suggest real food. Juicing is a FAD from many years ago. Just log the calories from the…

A couple things. I used to snack mindlessly in front of the TV. This is a habit I had to break. It's easier if you keep your hands busy. I agree with other posters, save calories for a snack. Then pick the snack you've been craving. I think single portion packs are helpful.

I agree with this. Unless you are really short and sedentary, you should be eating more. I'm thirding (or fourthing) Jessica Smith.

I'll do this. ^ But you can do a lot from scratch. I make my own crust and roll it really thin. For regular pizza, turkey pepperoni has great flavor for 70% less fat. Red sauce is low calorie. 2% mozarella cheese (fat- free is disgusting) and lots of veggies. For white pizza, look for a low-fat alfredo sauce. Garlic…

The deficit depends on your TDEE - total daily energy expenditure. If you are 5'5" - female - 163 pounds - sedentary, that's about 1,800 calories. Choose a moderate weekly weight loss goal like 1/2 - 1 pound a week max. Then eat that many calories plus more if you exercise or are more than sedentary. Weight loss should be…

It's low impact so you should be okay. But, repetitive movements can still cause some people issues. I used to do Leslie Sansone videos daily but found I would get sore feet. I changed my footwear and socks and the problem went away. If you start to have a nagging (anything) take a break, or find a way thru it. Don't…

I've tried following someone else's exact meals and disliked the experience. Instead I focus on tweaking current meal choices. One meal, one snack, at a time. For example - breakfast was typically cold cereal with milk. This wasn't the best choice for me because it wasn't filling enough. I could do better. The usual…

Very few veggies are off the menu for me, but peppers, onions, and cucumber give me issues. Citrus fruits and tomatoes can be a problem.....oh yeah, and garlic (darnit!). I can only eat chocolate in very small doses. Too much caffeine can be a problem. The only soda I ever drink now is A&W Diet root beer. Eating before bed…

Here are a couple websites. I've liked everything I've tried from Skinny Taste. https://www.skinnytaste.com/low-fat-recipes/ https://www.myrecipes.com/low-fat-recipes

I don't have a calorie burn goal either. My workout choice for the day is about fitness or simply decompressing. Yoga days burn next to nothing (hatha) but relaxing while working my balance is still a good thing.

Increasing your calories won't speed up weight loss. Metabolism doesn't fluctuate that much. You won't gain FAT if you increase calories, unless you are eating more than maintenance. If you eat 3,500 calories over maintenance you gain a pound. If you eat 3,500 calories less than maintenance you lose a pound. Temporary…

Mmm.....for some. Intermittent fasting is an eating schedule. If limiting your eating time-frame (one protocol) or zig-zagging your calories (a different protocol) - helps you reduce your calorie intake naturally, then yes you will lose weight without counting calories. But I would guess plenty of people already have an…

Look for seated exercise videos on YouTube. There are a couple DVD series that feature seated exercise. Sit to Be Fit and Chair Dancing. Check your local library for these.

Why would you do separate meals? Smaller portions (than usual for you) and add a nice veggie side. Limit snacks. Move some more and you've got a calorie deficit. I can stick to a diet short term. For me the long -term....... maintenance has been the problem. What will your maintenance strategy be? Shakes don't change…

^This is so important. Light popcorn is a great snack, but I can scarf down half a big bag if I'm not careful. Quakes rice crisps are yummy. Not the full sized rice cakes. Quakes are thin and crispy, more like a chip. Cheddar is my favorite (can't find sweet chili ones anymore). But even these I have to portion out before…

Weigh the edible portion only. Bananas are pretty calorie dense IMO.

This^ You wondered if hot pockets and slimfast are healthy, yet you CHOOSE to under eat. Enough calories help you get macronutrients - protein, fat, and carbs. A varied diet will help you get micronutrients - vitamins and minerals. I eat hot pockets at times too, but I always add a serving of fruit and veggies for fiber. 1…

Wait....what? You need to eat fewer calories than your maintenance. Google your maintenance here: https://tdeecalculator.net/ 1200 calories is just a default minimum based on your weekly weight loss goal. Unless you are petite, sedentary and/or elderly it's likely that you could lose weight eating more. You don't have to…
