  • 6 days a week. 5 days strength training, 4 days cardio.
  • Yep. I take flaxseed oil, CLA, a multi-vitamin, and another amino acid supplement and I log them all. Or if I don't put them in my food diary (cause it's kind of a pain in the *kitten*), I just tack on 50 calories or so to my daily total. They're only about 10 calories each, but that certainly adds up throughout the day.
  • Oh my gosh, I love pop tarts. LOVE them. The s'mores ones are my favorites. I never eat them anymore because they have no nutritional value whatsoever, but man... I could demolish an entire box in one sitting.
  • I actually took it a while back as a pre-workout supplement. It made me jittery as hell, dizzy, and I couldn't focus on my workout. Again, I didn't take it for weight loss, I took it to help my workouts.. but it was a waste of money either way. After 3 or 4 doses I returned it. I was already eating pretty well, but I…
  • Great tip!! This is SO important, and so often overlooked by people new to weight loss. Thanks for sharing!
  • It's smart to use one day a week as a total rest day. Even professional athletes generally don't train 7 days a week. I tend to take the day after my most strenuous workout off (usually legs day, I'm always unbelievably sore the day after). You don't have to lay around and do nothing on your rest day, though. Sometimes…
  • Anyone who thinks ANYTHING they're getting at McDonalds is healthy is fooling themselves. However, it's better to get an oatmeal than a steak, egg, and cheese bagel and hash browns. And it's better to get a salad than a big mac and fries. I never eat fast food, but for the people who do, at least there are halfway decent…
  • This cracks me up. That woman is so utterly average-looking.
  • It's all about balance. While some people may find balance in having a "treat" every single day, some people are fine with once a week, once a month, or never. The important thing is that everyone on this site (okay, for the most part...) is trying to live a healthier lifestyle. You can live a healthy lifestyle and still…
  • Peanut butter and bananas or chopped dates is my favorite. I also love it with protein powder, cocoa, honey, craisins & stevia, chopped apples and cinnamon, blueberries and a teeny splash of heavy cream, nutella and chopped pecans.. I could go on forever.. I love oatmeal!
  • I'd definitely throw a rest day in there somewhere. Your muscles need time to recover.
  • I *think* the OP is referring to plyo squats. Not entirely sure though..
  • I agree foam rolling will help a little... But I'm not much help on this topic. I love sore muscles. Really, really sore muscles. To me, it means progress.
  • Granted I haven't read the whole 7 pages of this crazy post, but.... IT'S AN EXPRESSION. An expression that is meant to convey that muscle is more dense than fat, which means that it has greater mass per volume, meaning that if you take the same size piece of muscle and fat, the piece of muscle will weigh more. Given that…
  • For some reason, MFP sets protein pretty low. If you're going to go over your recommended intake anywhere, protein is the place to do it. You can also manually adjust the settings, I have mine set at 40/30/30 carbs/protein/fat.

  • For a while, the mods were locking all HCG threads. I don't know why that's stopped. It's a very unhealthy way to lose weight.
  • Do what works for you and rock it. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look cute, just like there's nothing wrong with not caring how you look at the gym. And there's really no need to judge anyone on their gym "style." Although I will admit I side-eye pajama pants at the gym. That one just doesn't make sense to me.
  • Hi! I just started it yesterday. No cardio in phase one is freaking me out a little, but I'm excited to see what happens!
  • Peanut butter and cheddar sandwich.
  • I haven't read this whole thread, but I'd much rather do 20-30 minutes of HIIT cardio, burn a boatload of calories, and get on with my day, than schlep around on the elliptical for an hour. There are plenty of times I do cardio for hours at a time (I run marathons & half-marathons), but quick, high-intensity cardio will…
  • I sweat like a pig. I went for an easy 2-mile walk on my lunch break today (I run about 25 miles a week, to put it in perspective), and I came back soaked through my shirt everywhere with sweat (I had changed into workout clothes, at least). I guess I've just accepted it about myself... I buy clinical strength…
  • It's not for everyone. I threw out my scale a couple weeks ago and I know I've gained weight since. I can't wait to buy another one. For some people, it's a pretty reliable measure of their progress. I agree with you that measurements and how your clothes fit are the most important factors in tracking your progress, but…
  • I can't stand when people are sitting at a red light in front of me with no turn signal on, then the light turns green and they turn their left turn signal on, and I have to sit and wait for them to be able to make the turn because it's too late to go around them. Thanks for the heads up, d-bag. I also HATE HATE HATE…
  • It's not really a phrase so much as a grammatical error, but... "I seen," drives me absolutely bananas. No, you didn't "seen," you freaking "saw." Oh - and "should of." It's "should have." And St. Patty's Day. It's "Paddy." St. Patrick was not a girl.
  • Thanks for the burning info, Judgy McJudgerson.
  • I love peanut butter and prunes! My in-laws make peanut butter stuffed prunes every thanksgiving.. roll them in sugar and they make a fantastic dessert.. Of course, they're not as healthy that way.. but they're so good!
  • It can be if overly processed. Like reduced fat peanut butter, it's full of junk. Natural peanut butter with just peanuts or peanuts and salt is fine. The fat in peanuts is monounsaturated - that's the "good" kind.
  • Have you never had chicken with peanut sauce? It's delicious. I love PB and cheddar cheese also.
  • Do what you enjoy. If you enjoy lifting weights, but hate cardio, don't do cardio. Any type of exercise is good for your body and your heart.
  • I eat everything with peanut butter. Bananas, celery, pretzels, whole wheat crackers.. it's great on a low carb tortilla with banana slices.. like a peanut butter pizza! It's great on apples, in protein shakes, in oatmeal... Damn I love peanut butter. Forgot this one: It's AMAZING with cheddar cheese. I used to love peanut…
